Yes I agree with all of that. They did show Laali participating in the race, helping her siblings, parents, but they had to move the story along. I guess her parents didn't give her the opportunity to prove her self, but everything happened so fast due the crisis in the family that they had no other option.

Please do not misunderstand me, but a "new entry" is not the solution for Laali's present situation (no matter how rich and handsome he is) 😉 😎

Yea I hope Laali fights this battle on her own, and becomes a strong character. But she will need someone's support to do that, and as of now it seems that support will be Shekhar.
