I don't live in India and so whenever I hear ab Krishna's bdo house I always get confused coz in my country government employees previously could apply for a lump sum (subsidies) to buy/built a house for themselves and they are now given a monthly homing allowance so when I hear that Krishna she going to be given a house I am totally confused and wonder what does this mean. So my questions are how is this whole process going to happen is she simply going to be given a state house to live in and since she is a woman what happens when she gets married and has to go and live in her husbands house is that bdo house taken away coz she is no longer in it. More generally if she where to be transferred to another state would that house be given to her replacement or does she simply keep it. If she later buys her own house can she give the bdo house back to the state I have heard of some companies giving their employees company cars until they get their own. Furthermore why in the world does the Indian government give their employees a house don't they pay them enough for them to buy their own house or is it an incentive to become a bdo. And is this not like bribery in such a high powered job won't they want a person who has a desire to do the job and not want employees who are simply there for the peaks of being a bdo?

I feel that because krishna's office is near to her home she is living in her home. Also if she transfers to another block then she will shift into a new BDO house. I sent a message on AB Facebook page and that's how I found out this. But Shri can give a very detailed one about that , I feel😃

Sandia,

Here is my response.

Government Officers in India merit a Govt provided Living Quarters (Living accomodation) as long as they are employed in Govt Service. Govt provides the accommodation wherever such facilities are available. The Private Sector will call such residential accommodation to its employess as perks (perquisites). So we can say the Qtrs allotted to Govt employees are also perks.

The process of applying and allotment for Govt Qtr
The Dept under which the employee is working, it should be eligible to grant accommodations for its employees. Then Employee interested in getting the Govt Qtys, will apply for it in his Dept as administrative procedure. And after getting approval, I think the application is submitted to the Govt office taking care of the Qtrs. If there is vacant qtr, it is immediately provided, else one has to be in queue to have the allotment.

Govt houses for UPSE/S PSE qualified personnel of high ranking:
Govt employees are all categorized in the hierarchial manners. And accordingly, IAS, IPS, IFS and some other high level posts, have a house attached to their post. Reasoning is that these high ranking officials are to serve the Govt in all dedication and have to be always mindful of the call of the Govt Duty. They can be posted anywhere at random to remotest parts of the country, with or without their choice. Because of such conditions on their professional life, the Govt tries to accommodate their personal life with all other benefits, like the house, school admissions for their kids while they are getting transferred etcera etcetra...

Krishna Raj comes under the last category of officer of high ranking.
Krishna is entitled for the Govt Qtr as long as she is employed with the Govt.

All Govt servants pay rent for the Govt Qtr to the Govt. This rent is not necessarily the applicable market rent but a rate determined by the Govt. Generally it is subsidised as most have guessed.

When a woman officer gets married and decides to stay at husband's place or her own accommodation, she will have to surrender her Qtrs to Govt.

When a Govt officer gets transferred, then he/she has to surrender the current Qtr before leaving. There is proper paper-work involved which finally relieves you from the place before joining the new station. So obviously the replacements will get the Qtrs!
