...I am sorry, Mom!
Shobhit
When would he stop being a child? When!? Why couldn't he learn something from his elder brother!?
Rajvee sighed, rereading the letter word by word. Doubts enveloping her, did Shobhit really think I wouldn't have heard him? If he told about Charmi, I would have scorned and left it there? ...And everyone else knew? Everyone... even Darsh.
The pressure built up between her brows, still how could he runaway from his own marriage? How!? Didn't he know, it wasn't only about him?
No, he never could do that. Mrs Parekh did so much drama at the wedding, it was so hard to convince her to let Nandini marry Darsh. So, so, hard. Rajvee was about to turn to her businesswoman antics when it came out... Gun was missing, leaving a letter behind she had also escaped.
At least, it sewed mouth of Parekh family for the marriage ceremony. But the guests... The guests, they asked, they talked, they mocked, of course, as always the world took it upon itself to question how she managed the Rawal house, how she brought up her children.
"Why Shubh?" She asked aloud to no one in particular.
Though, someone answered from the door of her room, "Because beta you forgot him."
"No bapuji, he made a mistake and I just wanted to-"
Keshav stepped inside, "To do what? Make him realise, he made a grave mistake? He knows that, everyone in the family loves Darsh and Shobhit, he always idolised his elder brother, we all love him but he respected Darsh, and you think he wouldn't have held himself responsible?"
He sighed, "Do you have any idea, how traumatised he was after the accident? He convinced the family to not share anything with you or Darsh, because he was himself struggling and so were you Rajvee because Darsh is you son. But, what about Shobhit? His nightmares? ...He hasn't celebrated his birthday for past three years, he doesn't even stay at home on that day!"
"Unwanted," he shook his head, "we made him felt as if he was unwanted."
Rajvee stood up, mumbling to herself, "No, Shubh is not unwanted."
"Happy mother's day!"
Three years old Shobhit extended the card ahead, grinning, breathing heavily, sweat beads glistening on his forehead. Darsh behind him, with flowers in his hands. As Rajvee accepted the presents, she was hugged by her sons. Precious. Precious children.
Precious. Not unwanted.
"Maa! Papa! Come out!"
Darsh's voice?
Rajvee along with Bapu ji made their way over to the main hall. Frowning, she reached out for Darsh when her hands stopped. Shobhit... With quite plausibly, Charmi standing beside Darsh and Nandini respectively.
His hands found Rajvee's, "Maa, please, listen him out once."
"Yes Maa, he didn't want to come at all but it doesn't happen that way, does it? If there are issues in families, they need to be sorted by sitting down and talking," Nandini followed up her husband's request.
She, however, shook her head.
Shobhit turned around to smile at his brother and sister-in-law, "It's fine, she's angry at me. Mom should be, anyways, Charmi we should go now. Your brother must be waiting for us."
"My daughter-in-law is not going anywhere, Darsh, tell him he can leave if he wants to but Charmi is now daughter of Rawals and she's not leaving," Rajvee stared at Charmi the whole time.
A scrutiny might not be favoured by her family members, but she wanted to ensure her instincts give her green go. It wasn't as if, she wouldn't enquire about her anyways. Shobhit, being the youngest in the family never needed to grow up and learn worldly manners, unlike Darsh who refused to acknowledge those. Still, if no one else had any objections Rajvee could take Charmi in the family. After all, her son did marry her.
Her son.
Tears gleamed in her eyes as she turned to gaze at Shobhit, "You are not leaving?"
He shook his head, perplexed.
Rajvee left a long breath nodding, "Good, it's quite late now, and everyone is tired from the functions. We should rest. Darsh, Nandini, both of you should retire as well."
I am sorry, Shobhit.
***
As the title states, it's wishful thinking on my part. For Rajvee to think about forgiving Shobhit, let alone think about apologising. I have been itching to write something along those lines for sometime now and here it is. Originally, I wanted to end it with Rajvee embracing Shobhit and, maybe later, kissing his cheek which could be considered both, forgiveness and apology. Then, it struck me, it wouldn't be as easy for Rajvee or any parent to comprehend their negligence. Let alone admit it, even by gestures. That's why she ignored Shobhit and addressed Darsh.
Honestly, I haven't been a fan of Rajvee's behaviour with Shobhit from the first episode. Long before we knew, he caused the accident in which his brother lost his eyes, yet I remember my reaction was, 'Rajvee, look at him. He's hurt.'
Her anger at Shobhit or Shubh, as Rajvee used to address him lovingly before accident in my universe, is justified. At the same time, harsher than needed. What's the purpose of it, in the end? Would Darsh's eyes return?
Still, it's justified, and yet I again am going on loop to say it's being too harsh. Stay angry for the whole life, but don't forget he's your son as well.
Charmi is a doctor (I don't remember the specific position though), and that's how she met Shobhit here. His nightmares induced by trauma landed him in the the hospital where he ran into her, quite literally. As expected from Shobhit.
Charmi's brother... According to wiki, Arjo's brother's girlfriend did have a brother, Charu even stayed with him for a leap time.
Yes, lastly, if you found typos or errors I would be grateful if you notify me. Proofreading, as soon as I finish writing is not my forte.
