Dr. Rulz (and you are an MD), there is NOTHING wrong with Omi. The writers wanted to create a character that would appeal to women who like mushy men, so they made Omi. A guy like him that resembles a lap dog has some appeal to the people on this forum and those who are linked to Ravi Dubey's profile on Facebook.
Omi is one of the worst characters I have seen created in television. People like him have never existed in real life. The writers first suggested he might have Asperger's Syndrome (they were riding on the waves of My Name is Khan). When that did not work they decided to change it something traumatic that happened to him at the age of 7. Talk about a load of rubbish. I have worked with trauma cases and NEVER seen this in my life. I have seen trauma where kids have been used in satan worship (severe sexual abuse) and I didn't see ANYTHING of this kind. Then, the writers decided to have Nakul give him some medications that created his "wierdness." Dr. Saab, aaj tak I have never seen ANY medication that could create such symptoms. I know that Adderall can create psychotic symptoms in people, but Omi is not psychotic, he is just some guy who has a wimpy voice, bad dress sense and looks more like a nerd and nothing else.
So basically, Omi is this character that women will find cute and not even question or wonder. His stupidity appeals to everyone and since he acts so wierd and odd people think, waaah, kiya actor hai. What does she do but talk in a feminine voice, smile like a goof ball and nodd his head side-to-side and of course act extra nice.
The more Omi I see the more I want to barf. 🤢

well kiran even high working patients of autism require extensive therapy to make thm communicate with others..bt in omi's case he has never had any therapy at all i think..all he gets are the pills which by nakul's admission are not therapeuitc at all...and he is very cool talking to strangers, dressing up and going out and very change adaptive basically which autistic people are not..remember antra even after growing up used to wear the same kind of clothes and live by a fixed time table..not so in omi's case..

Goes to show the talent of these writers - they had Anu with some unknown illness they made up, then they had Abhi electrocute himself and nothing happen, numerous car accidents and everyone came out alive, Simi have some traumatic break down only to recover moments later, and the worst/best, RS suffer a nasty fall, receive major brain surgery and then get discharged 24 hours later and recover from taking asprin and juice. Seriously, these guys have rewritten textbooks on medical history!

You're a doctor to me 😊 Wishing you the best in your studies. The problem Anu is that writers in India take ZERO time in doing any research. Many of them are just friends of the director or producer and are some rich kids who come up with these ideas. Few of much in the way of life experience in my opinion. Really talented writers have a research team that takes out the time to do some work. One of my friends in the UK went to Vegas just to get a "feel" of the place when she wrote a short story - that's how much time is spent in making something authentic.
Another writer friend lived the life of someone for a short period of time just to get the idea of what these characters when through. Another writer friend that writes science fiction is well read in the field and so his stories (hobby) are immaginative and creative. True writers take the time do research because that makes the story both interesting and authentic. A believable story invites in the viewer. Unfortunately the writers think over the top drama and acting is the key.

Now why would I have an issue with the actor himself? He might be the nicest person in the world. However, the character of Omi is still poorly written and developed and is quite an insult to the intelligence of anyone who has worked in the field of mental health. Very little effort was made to develop this character on the part of the writers. Perhaps your right, in defence of the actor's performance having been given so little to work with the best he could do was create a meek and feminine voice, a goofy smile and the excessive nodding. Perhaps if Ravi is given a part of play that would challenge is skills we might see him excel but right now the character of Omi doesn't do it. Sure Omi does some nice things, but that's about it. I find very little purpose to his character in the show and the excessive adulation given.
