I have mixed feelings on this subject. It's a nice idea, that we all get to express our thoughts. But my experience has been that if I am mostly enjoying a show, and want to express that, I will inevitably be told that I am not critical enough of the social issues. Sure, I can see the underlying problems, but I can also see why the characters are often written in such a way that they don't take active steps to resolve them. I don't think that makes me an unthinking person, just someone who is wearied by constant confrontation, and doesn't care to seek it out in every online interaction.

It would be one thing if those critiquing the show just said Well, this is my opinion. And I think most people do that quite nicely. But if they dissect everyone else's posts to say why they are not on the right path, or not as able to see the subtext, well, I find that patronising, and will certainly decline to engage.

I have no real dog in this fight, as I don't post much on this show's forum. This is just my two cents based on past experience. It has led me to post very little, and just read updates.

It's good to discuss stuff like this, though. Knowing what people think about how a forum should be can only enhance the experience of belonging,😊

Mahika.

serial is like a real life where problems are endless if you solve one problem another one is on the horizon.
Not every one has same fate. Some are born with easy life and others are with harshest. And as it is explain in shashtra ppl enjoy their life or suffer based on their karmas. That is why when we see evilest person is having a great life and nicest one is suffering every moment.
Like in this show anita anuj and Nitu Mr T are having a great life
while abhi simi RS OMi are suffering,
Yes it is lots of melodrama at times but that is what make us watch more.
At times nothing make sense but isn't that true aboutat real life too.
Some times everything bad comes at same time.
In gujarati we call it aabh fatyu tyan thigdu kyan daiye. Means the whole sky is pouring how can we fix so that it stops pouring.
I too am enjoying the show yes many things does not make sense
like what abhi is doing at Dhaba when simi is working out for living?.
Why can he find some odd job and start working till he gets real paying job?.Why he refuses hand out from his mom and accepts hand out from Omi,?
If suppose he moves in with simi to KB why shouldn't he get help from his mom and get a place accepting a loan from her an paying it back later?.
I can come up with many points,
But then we are the one who want abhi to be so nice and that is the abhi we all have fallen in love with.
If abhi stays out longer hours who will help simi?.😆😉
If abhi is away all the time then who will simi rely on and call if she needs him?.🤣 Who will protect simi from insults?😆
If abhi spends so much time helping simi would n't he loose job just like anuj.😉
First simi has to grow up and learn to solve her maika problems by herself only than abhi can concentrate on his work and give her nice home and other stuff.
Despite all I love and enjoy the serial and I too don;t believen in disecting any one's post. we all can agree and disagree. by all means and we are doing that is why we have filled up most pages in short period of time.
If any one wants numbers I will gladly provide it
We have some wonderful writers in the forum. But if we use simpler language every one can understand then every one can participate in discussions . Wouldn't it be more fun?
I think we do argue on points positively and -tively every single day,
So why don;t we get on discussing issues,
One of you can make a post about every single thing they see wrong about serial character issues and I will gladly make a sticky so it won't go off first page and we all can argue as much as we like we can even send a link to creatives to let them see what they are doing wrong. and what we like to see or our expecatations..
We can change this every week and discuss wirh fresh post may be posted by same member or other. This way every one gets the turn and what matter is that our voices get heard and I hope they take action on it and meet our expectations.

Don't you think Simi has barred teeth and changed faster than a speeding bullet
At this point, I'm the choir being preached to ... I have belly-ached about this ad nauseum ... I have also waxed lyrical on the 'air-headedness' of what appears to be an ever-changing 'writing' team - the primary reason behind all the inane vacillation and vomit inducing vertiginous roller-coaster rides ... I have always lauded instances where Simi steps out of her carapace to show badly needed gumption so as to take on the powers to be ...
let the marketplace decide.
If we confine ourselves to the largely piycaune, then the 'marketplace' can institute its favorite self-regulatory mechanisms ... people can enter & exit posts at will (and they do) ... if however, discussions take on a more somber hue, then I'm not certain that the marketplace is informed well enough to be able to vector the topic in a more suitable or stimulating direction ... if I might cite an example from your list of undesirables of where I feel the marketplace is ill-informed : 'religious slurs' ... I feel no compunction about bowdlerizing 'theology' in all its myriad forms & will not tolerate being discouraged from doing so (I consider, and have labelled Manju's Matarani to be a total incompetent, underworked, and overpaid)... not every discussion is deserving of 'respect' (I might, then, ask not to be scoffed at when suggesting that I believe in fairies and leprechauns who have set up house at the bottom of my garden from whence divine light emanates ... in our present times, while discussions about 'religion' are exceedingly exceedingly important, I see little in Indian serials that would elicit anything more than a snort, so we may have little cause for concern that 'slurs' will raise their heads) ... in a similar vein, perhaps you can elucidate on this: 'libelling the artistes' ... libel is a legal concept upheld by a fairly complex edifice of rules ... the 'marketplace' is never in any position to adjudicate such matters (it's rather fortuitous that a rather interesting feud is underway in the UK where the British Chiropractic Association - soon to be extinct one hopes - has brought a case of libel against Simon Singh - mathematician and author ... read his stuff if you have the chance) ... ditto for 'sedition' (I'd be shocked witless if this ever came up) ... 'exposing members' personal details' - would you be shocked witless to learn (and I have this from an extremely reliable source) that this has happened at the hands of IF's admin. staff - and that too with total disregard and absolute impunity??!!! So ... what does that leave from your list? 'adults only' & 'abusive language' - I had already suggested against these ... we're in violent agreement ...
I will inevitably be told that I am not critical enough of the social issues.
You will?!! This causes me concern ... are you being overly sensitive perhaps? Maybe you haven't seen those of my posts where KB has offered ample opportunity for uninhibited hysterics ...
I have no real dog in this fight, as I don't post much on this show's forum.
Ah ... I now have something to sink my teeth into!
First, I will put on my well loved 'curmudgeonly' hat and ask that metaphors that encompass 'other animals' (the last time I looked, I was not a plant ... nor were other homo sapiens) brutalizing each other in order to satiate human perversions, be excised from the popular lexicon ... hence, I am delighted you have no dog in 'this' fight ... however, one hopes that a requisite degree of passion exists for you to recognize the need for freedom of speech ... passionate enough to post (which is what this fight is all about ... but here I am again ... going down the path that Bana thinks is stifling the fun ... shucks!) ...
Second, you have posted inspite of your past experience and surely that feels good ... I should never have known you existed ... inaction benefits almost no one ... welcome. .. keep at it!

Oops forgot to add that one in my suggested list of no-nos for moderation ' abusive references to our 4-legged (or 2 or 6 or 8) planet-mates😆😆!
Very nicely expressed post, Mahika. I am positive (pun intended!) most members would be in agreement with this one.

Freedom of speech is truly what a forum is about and bring your thoughts and to share your view points on a podium like this what better can i ask for !!

Om Shanti Om Freedom of Speach is a constitutional right. Thank you very much for pointing this out😃. That's what this forum is all about expressing yourself. I may not agree with all posts but I respect everyone's opinion. This forum would be boring if all we did was join hands, sing Kum Ba Yah, and praised Neil.

Well said Laila - If someone does not like the age difference between Abhi and Simi, they should be allowed to say it. If someone doesn't like the relationship between Omi and Neetu, they should be allowed to say it. That's what forums our about and if people are too thin skinned to handle it, then the issue is about them and not the comments posted about the show.

why couldnt they show them going around the fire for real with a priest chanting mantras even after the guests and Manju etc had left?

<font color="#cc3366">'Cause the priests had taken off as well ... however, the ritual of marriage is just that - a ritual and hence, eminentlydispensible ... having an officiating 'priest' makes not an iota of difference to the outcome ... their commitment to each other was necessary and sufficient for a union (and that they had already pledged at the temple ... although Simi suffered from inconvenient amnesia, which I believe was the result of hack writers) ...besides, given that they were soon to be reduced to penury, a good decision from a financial standpoint to not have to employ a shastri ... I have yet to be convinced that priests are even the least bit necessary ... if you think about it, just what do they add to life anyway?!</font>

<font color="#cc3366">Watch the show ... there's plenty to revel in ... </font>

Yayy, Simi finally slapped Anita! 😃 👏 I have been itching to do that for a long time! Its great that the worm is finally turning, Simi is baring her teeth finally to protect her loved ones, especially Papajee! 👏

I agree that where there is true love, priests and rituals dont matter ....but Im also old-fashioned and would have loved to see Simi-Abhi take real pheras around a real fire instead of going around an unlit pyre in a deserted temple, taking pheras in the opposite direction. 😆
The priest was still there, Anusha could have paid him to complete the wedding.

<font face="Comic Sans MS, Times, serif">My take on this is let the marketplace decide. Why regulate when there is inherent self-regulation in the form of how much and what kind of views/responses a post gets. If people are interested in what you say they will read and respond, if they don't they will counter-respond or ignore and your thread will die a natural death. If members feel your view is too negative and they don't agree they can simply overlook your post in favour of more positive ones and that will show you how little your 'negativity' is appreciated. If on the other hand your 'negative' post gets a lot of response, then obviously your view is shared by many and deserves to be aired. Either way the forum regulates itself.</font>

<font face="Comic Sans MS, Times, serif">As far as projecting the show as popular is concerned, I guess that is also an objective of the forum and it is best served by encouraging a large number of posts, views and responses rather than by limiting the POVs - whether we appreciate the show or criticize it obviously we are watching it and care enough to post, that's what makes it popular.</font>

<font face="Comic Sans MS, Times, serif">I believe moderation is required more for real offences - racist, seditious or religious slurs, 'adults only' stuff, libelling the artistes, abusive language or exposing members' personal details or similar stuff. Also for housekeeping - combining similar posts, duplicate topics, etc that makes the forum more user-friendly. On thesecounts, Ramas has been very effective.</font>

<font face="Comic Sans MS">With happenings on the show getting morefantastical and our beloved SimBhi under threat lets all get our brushes out now!</font>

Thanks Bana! Ive always been a rebel! 😆
Well said! 👏 The more the POVs, the more the posts, the more its popularity... debates make a forum thrive and hum with life. As long as the debates are healthy, express personal POV's without making personal, religious or ethnic attacks or abusive in any way!
Criticizing a character doesnt mean we are criticizing the actor or actress, rather the writers and director for taking the show on the wrong path.

Simi is baring her teeth finally to protect her loved ones, especially Papajee!
She can lighten up some more on the bawling ... I actually loved the scene where Mili grabs her hand in an act of solidarity ...
I agree that where there is true love, priests and rituals dont matter
They don't matter even when there's no true love 😆
The priest was still there, Anusha could have paid him to complete the wedding.
Given that her baby boy had just been thrashed and flayed to within an inch of his life, and his inamorata was nearly drowning in her own tears, an authentic wedding ceremony may not have been topmost on Anusha's mind ... something about shell shock ... whazzahellwazdat?!! 😆
