Why couldn't they make just one serial on Zee that is relevant to modern India? Simi is educated and bright. She has a successful career. She can take care of herself. Also, she is not even fat! She is very cute and pretty and has an average figure.

Why can't they show a heroine who has a little self respect and courage to go against society's stupid, outdated, and ancient norms? Most Indian women I know of in big cities would rather be single than committed to a worthless loser like Rajiv and their parents would want the same. And can we please move on from this idea of a "marriageable age"? 30 is young! As Indians, we cannot continue doing wrong in the name of tradition. It is wrong to make a woman feel like a hopeless failure due to her marital status or her age. I know there are real girls who go through this kind of mistreatment, and that makes it even more important to have shows which communicate to them that what is happening to them isn't right, and more importantly, that they can do something about it.

Television has the power to pull a culture forward yet for every step India takes in the right direction, these serials insist on pulling it back. It's so frustrating. I was hoping after the train wreck that was GKLB, something more palatable would take over the 10:00 slot. Since the show has only just started, I am really hoping that things improve, and there will be a positive turn of events, but for now I just feel disappointed with this show. Sorry if I sounded angry. I just get so frustrated that there are almost no shows that truly embrace the progress India has made.

I agree with you on this, I was hoping that they show stronger women characters. Though I admire Mili for her bravery and expect her to go against the norms of the society but with the show starting on Simi's track and showing the same helpless girl again on TV, I think this will draw away many viewers.

But producers sometimes have to keep things moderatre sometimes, if Simi wentt against her parents decision, talked back to them and didn't thinking about her brother people might start thinking of her as negative. Because she doesn't listen to her parents.

I agree too. But I believe that Mili will exploit Rajiv!

I think they could have shown expressing doubts over the guys character to her parents. I find it hard to believe any parent would marry their daughter to such a lecherous person, no matter how desperate they are.

Besides that guy looks like a peacock to me.
