CHAPTER 20 (PART-B)
"Out of all the sweets in the world, why do you want this particular one?" Arnav pouted in irritation looking the shapeless thing. "as if, if i had asked for any other sweet, you would have cooked it immediately! Accept your defeat Arnav. You suck at cooking." Kushi said in victorious tone.
"Anyone in the world can say that but not you. Being an Indian girl, you don't even know to cook anything. Shame on you!" he said in pitiful and mocking tone before seriously asking "why didn't you learn to cook?"
"i had no interest in it, Arnav. And there was no necessity for me to cook. Don't forget that i am only daughter of billionaire. Even my mom cooked rarely that too when i asked her to do." She elaborated to him and smiled when she heard her husband say "i am glad that i am just a millionaire. I hope that at least that leaves our daughter without any choice except to learn cooking."

"That's it. I am not going to do it anymore. If you want to eat jelabi then go to shop and buy it. I am done with this stupid thing." Arnav declared gritting his teeth making Kushi to jump from the counter in excitement. "Then accept it. Even Arnav Singh Raizada can't do certain things." She shouted enthusiastically.
Arnav looked at her in amazement wondering how such a small thing made her happy. If his defeat make her happy, then he would have accept it at the beginning itself. He nodded approving that he was defeated. "Accept that you are a bad cook." She said clapping her hands in joy. "okay...i am a bad cook." He said enjoying her antics.
She included "and very bad husband." He nodded and said "and very bad hus...wait, why? Just because that i dont know to make jelabi, i became bad husband?" his voice explained his shock. "no,not because you dont know to make jelabi. You are bad husband because you were not able to satisfy your pregnant wife's cravings." Kushi pointed out.
"i am sorry kushi." kushi enthusiasm evaporated noticing the seriousness in his tone. "Really sorry. When you asked me to make jelabi, i really wanted to make it for you. But as usual i failed. Today I again failed as a husband. I am so sorry." He said his eyes already filled with tears. Kushi replied "Arnav i was just making fun. Not that..."
She stopped abruptly as Arnav held her hands in between his, like pleading her. "Trust me Kushi, the day you came back to me, i promised myself that i won't hurt again. When i married you, i promised that i will be a good husband. Every single time i tried to make you happy. But i failed miserably, kushi. Every single time i ended up hurting you more. I am so sorry." He rested his forehead on her joined hands and cried silently.
Kushi got worried seeing him cry like that. He didn't even cry when he told about his past or when lavanya was hospitalised. The sincerity in his voice welled up her eyes too. He raised his head before continuing "yesterday in hospital when you said that i am your only problem, i couldn't have agreed more to it. You were happy and content before i came into your life. Look at you now."
He pointed towards her tears which where flowing uncontrollably. "i didn't want anything in my life except to see you people happy. But no one is happy with me. You, di, nani, lavanya, no one. And worst part is i am sole reason for all your sufferings. I feel like i am spreading sadness everywhere. I don't why the hell is I am still breathing. It would have been better if i had..."
Kushi plunged herself into his arms unable to control herself. "Arnav please don't say like that. Please don't ask sorry. Please." She cried clinging more close to him. He too hugged her back crying out all his misery which was deeply buried inside him. They stood there like that finding solace in each other's arm for some time when she heard his voice again. "Leave kushi."
Unsure whether she heard it correctly or not, she pulled away from the hug and looked at him searchingly. He was looking down and not at her. "Just leave me and go Kushi." he said rolling his eyes from ground to her face. Kushi dropped her hands from him in disbelief. "Why are you talking like this?" she asked him.
"Because I don't deserve this happiness and you don't deserve this sufferings." He said in very firm tone. "Don't be stupid Arnav, we..." she tried to hold his hand but he shrugged it off and screamed "when i say leave why can't you just leave, damn it. You wanted to leave right? What's the big deal now? Just go away from my life."
He ran his hands though his hair calming him down and looking at her he pleaded. "Please leave, Kushi. I beg you, Kushi. Please." But Kushi stood resolutely glaring at him. "Why do you want me to leave Arnav?" she questioned.
"Because i am scared, Kushi." he shouted at top of his lungs. "I am scared that if you stay with me you will be never happy. I am scared that all my attempts to make you happy will just remain as attempts. I am scared that this hurt, pain and sufferings will become part of your life. Try to understand Kushi. I don't want anything other than your happiness. Just le..."
He couldn't finish his sentence as his lips were taken in a kiss. Kushi adhered to him, shifting her one hand from his chest to his waist and then looped it around him pulling him closer to her. Her other hand slowly moved towards his face before gripping his hair. She sighed when she felt him to respond by cupping her cheeks and kissing her back. Kushi felt tears falling on her cheeks and not sure whether whose tears it was, she kissed him more vigorously trying to soothe his pain as well as trying to share her pain.
They broke their kiss in need of oxygen. Resting his forehead on hers, he breathed heavily wiping the tears from her cheek while she chose to keep her eyes closed enjoying the moment. "That was my technique." He complained in very offended tone. She smiled remembering that this is the exact way he used to shut her mouth when she talked non-sense.
"I am glad that it worked on you too." She said while opening her eyes. He stared into eyes caressing her cheeks and said "Kushi, do you really want this? Don't you think you deserve ..." she pushed him away angrily and warned him "oh, Arnav. Please don't start from first." He nodded thoughtfully before saying "still I leave the choice to you! Your decision will be final."
Kushi sighed as he kissed her forehead and then stepped back to wipe his face with back of his hands and took a heavy breath. "What are you doing?" Kushi asked in astonishment. "Going to make jelabi!" he exclaimed once again adding all ingredients necessary to make mix. "oh no no...arnav. it's already four. I want to get some sleep before everyone wakes up. Please let's go and have some sleep." She tried to pull him away but he stood determinedly. "You have asked me something for first time! So today i wont sleep until i make these jelabi for you."
"What the hell, Arnav? Why are you doing this? i have no mood to eat jalabi now. Even if you make jelabi now, I won't eat it." She warned him but a wicked smile was the all response she got. He gave her 'really-did-you-mean-it' look and made her to fume in anger. "You know what? Go to the hell. I am off to sleep." She said in annoyed tone and left the kitchen.
Arnav smiled seeing her retreating back and rubbed his palm together before starting to blend the mix together. His smile grew more when his wife returned to kitchen within three minutes giving him deadly look. "If you had finished smiling, then can you please make it quick?!? Because I don't have any intension stay here whole night." She gritted her teeth and flared.
Kushi dozed off leaning on the wall. She jerked up hearing some sounds and noticed that Arnav was washing the bowl. She got worried when he said that jelabi got over burnt and now he is going to do it again. She asked him that how many times he is going to just try? He replied "until i make them perfectly fine." seeing her pout, he added "at least until that flour gets over, i will try."
She checked the container next to her. "Arnav, what will you do if this container falls down and flour goes waste?" Arnav stopped washing the plate and turned immediately to notice that Kushi was about to push down the container. "Don't do it, Kushi." he shouted before plunging towards her making her to jerk back and drop the container.
Kushi closed her eyes in an instant and when she opened it her jaws got dropped down witnessing the sight in front of her.
"i am sorry Arnav..." she managed to say observing her husband who looked like he had flour bath. His whole body was covered with flour except his eyes which was extremely red. "i didn't do it wontedly!"Her explanation was responded with mock smile and angry gaze. "i know that you did it wontedly. Now you are going to get punishment for it!" he said to her.
"Oh really? And what will you do for this?" kushi exclaimed grabbing a hand full of flour before throwing it on her husband's face and ran from there giggling. "kushi, i am not going to leave you today!" that was the last thing she heard as she ran from kitchen to living room. Leaning her back on the pillar, she looked behind her shoulders to locate her husband. She closed her eyes and her breath stopped as she realised that her husband had already pinned to the pillar.
"What are you going to do?" she asked in between her breaths. He replied showing his face and tee shirt full of flour. "Exactly what you did to me!"
"No, no, Arnav, you can't do it. Please don't do it. I am allergic to flour. It gives itchy sensation to my skin. That's why i never touch it. Please. Please let me go. It will hurt me." She pouted making different faces. "kushi, It's just flour. Stop acting like its chilly powder." He grimaced nearing her ignoring her constant pleas. Knots started to form in her stomach as Arnav looked at her intensely.
She shut her eyes as he came close to her, her breathing totally ragged. She felt his hot breaths on her shoulder and that's when she realised what he intend to do. She held her eyelids more tightly when she felt his cheek so close to her cheek. She waited in anticipation for his hard stubble to touch her soft one. But it never happened. Even she didn't feel him close to her.
Opening her eye in suspicion, she noticed that Arnav was standing to steps away from her, his hands folded against his chest and smile adoring his face indicating that he was admiring her reactions. Kushi frowned seeing his way of action. "Arnav..."
"You really thought that i will do it even after you said many please's?" he asked cheekily raising his right eyebrow. Kushi first frowned, then smiled and moved forward to hug him when he stepped away from her surprising her. She gave him a confused look.
"before coming near to me, first look at my condition. I am in total mess with this flour all over me. You will also get messed up if you come close to me." He said causally. "or in your words, you might get hurt!" Arnav mimicked kushi's voice while she just stared at him.
Then grabbing the round neck of his tee shirt, she said "if it means that i will be with you, then i really dont mind getting hurt..." she hugged him settling herself in his arms and included a word "again."
He too hugged her wrapping his arms protectively around her while quietly praying that 'again' should never come in their life 'again.'
