Chapter 33
He drove aimlessly for miles. His mind was empty of all thoughts. There was a burning pain in his heart which he needed to soothe.
Her angry face haunted him.
Her words singed at his thoughts.
'Just go back to your life.
Go back to the world where you belong.
Go back to the many women who are happy to jump at your every word.
Go back to living life at your terms.
I never asked you to follow me here.
And I will never stop you from having the life you want'
Was that all he was worth to her?
Was he the one imposing the relationship on her?
If he had meant something she would have never asked him to go away.
Again, the pain felt unbearable, and he increased the speed of his car to avoid the thoughts.
The roads were deserted anyway as this was a stretch leading away from the man city.
He did not know where he was going and what he was doing. All he saw was the agony in his mind
All he wanted do was shut out the world. He switched off his phone and continue to drive, as the speed gave some release to his throbbing pain----
He did not come back.
Would he ever?
Could she go after him?
Did she have the courage to face one more rejection like what happened 7 years ago?
Though he loved her, would he forgive her?
Would he think beyond the differences and go back to the old Arnav, loving her and wanting her?
She felt lonely and confused.
As she huddled in the couch, the old familiar feeling of cold loneliness seeped into her heart.
She did not know when the tears came again or when she drifted off to sleep
'
The anger and pain drained him.
He was exhausted.
He lost all interest in the thing called life.
It stretched ahead of him again without the one person he wanted to spend it with.
Was he destined to be alone in life?
Or would he get a second chance?
And that too with her?
He knew he could go back and ask.
But did she want him back?
Again he increased the speed of his car and drove like a man posessed---
It must have been the wee hours of the night, when Khushi was disturbed by the sound of her mobile ringing.
The voice on the other end said 'Are you Khushi?
Mr Arnav Singh Raizada has met with an accident
Can you come to-----'
The rest of the things passed in a blur for Khushi.
All she knew was that her heart had stopped beating.
Her world had stopped.
And she did not have the strength to move.
But at the back of the mind, she knew she had to.
And another part of her mind chanted,
May be it was someone else?
Or may be it was Arnav pulling one more sneaky trick on her?
And as she raced towards the hospital,
All thoughts went out of her head
Only one prayer reverberated her entire being
God. Let my Arnav be safe.
I won't live if something happens to him---'
