Chapter 10

Sakshi couldn't believe her ears, everything was crumbling down and she didn't even know what to do.  Inspite of everything, the only thing she felt was how she'd survive without him. 

"And to think I fell in love with you!" she said completely shattered, "You both brothers are..." and not having courage for more angry words or seeing Arjun laugh at her feelings, she ran towards the main door. 

But somehow when she reached it, despite trying her best, she couldn't seem to be able to open the door.  She checked the door handle, and the lock through the tears, and belatedly realised that a strong hand was against the door, preventing her from going away.

"What more do you want from me?" she said sobbing relentlessly, he wasn't even letting her leave now.  She felt his hands touch her shoulders gently and froze, and then he was turning her to face him.

She thought why she hadn't kept her mouth shut.

"What did you just say?" Arjun asked in a shocked voice.

But Sakshi had no intention of letting Arjun hurt her more, so she kept silent and stared down. She felt Arjun holding her chin, and forcing her to look at him.  If she had seen any smirks on his face, she would have hit him, but Arjun was watching her in a strange way.

She pushed his hand away, and tried to go from there, but Arjun blocked her by placing his hands on both sides of her.

"Sakshi, we'll stay here like this for as long as needed! What did you just say?" Arjun told her.

"I thought you couldn't wait for me to leave!" Sakshi retorted back.

"Not until I get the truth out of you!" he said in a determined voice, making her nerves sting, making her heart ache even more.

"Let go of me," she choked, "You want to take everything from me, everything, even my pride! Haven't you done enough? Haven't you played with my life enough?"

"No," he groaned, "I want the truth!" he insisted.

She didn't have any much to lose now, and just to get some distance away from Arjun, she shouted hoarsely, "I love you! Happy," she said looking at him angrily, "Can I go now? After all you don't want to ever see me again?!"

Arjun couldn't understand anything, he thought Sakshi didn't love him, then why was she crying and claiming to love him after he had released her.

Her next words brought him back from his thoughts.

"But why?" she cried. "Why did you do all this? When you know you don't really even love me?"

"'You don't know what I want," he derided with a contempt that actually managed to reach something miserably inside her, because he was right. For all his gentleness and patience since past few months, Arjun had always treated her well, but nothing more, unless she considered what happened yesterday night and his gift.

"But it's time, damned well past time, you found out what it is I do want,' he added grimly.

"And don't you just decide everything based on misunderstandings!"

"I don't want to talk with you anymore, in fact I don't want to stay with you anymore!" Sakshi lied, she couldn't deal with more lies and pity.

Arjun grabbed her arm, and dragged her to sit on the sofa, and when she tried to get up, he also sat next to her and held onto her tightly.

"You say you love me, but you will not let me listen to me!" he rasped out angrily.

"You mean more lies, right? Like why you forced Rohit to ditch me and all!" Sakshi accused him.

"God knows you have full right to distrust me, but at least hear me out! Afterwards if you want to go, you can go!" Arjun replied sadly.  But he hoped that maybe she'd forgive him, just the fact she returned here gave him some courage.  She could have easily walked away straight to her mum's place.

And the fact that she was already in love with him, helped him a lot in confessing everything.  If there was one thing he had learned with time, it was that true love never dies and it could heal the deepest of wounds.

It took some time before Arjun knew how to start, he didn't know how to proceed.

"Sakshi, do you remember when we first met?" Arjun asked suddenly.

Sakshi didn't believed why Arjun was asking such a thing, and she stared at him confused.

"Shayad you don't even remember, but for me that day was the most important one in my life.  There was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, and she was so nervous and scared, that I couldn't stop myself from helping her out! But before I could do anything, you had run away!" Arjun said and looked for any encouragement from Sakshi.

But she wasn't giving any signs, in fact she was looking at him as if he was lying.

As if to get more courage to speak, he took one of her hand in his, and wouldn't release it even when she tried tugging it back.  Finally Sakshi let it remain in his hands.

"Afterwards I tried so many times to see you," Arjun continued staring away, "but every time I tried talking with you, you'd run away scared or you didn't even see me! And then due to a case I had to go away."

He was getting frustrated, he couldn't seem to reach Sakshi at all, she was afraid of him.  It was all so frustrating, what was worst was that he fell even more for her each time he saw her.  And it was so obvious that he loved that all friends kept on teasing him, that finally the great ACP has finally fallen for a girl.

It was during one of those rounds, his friend Sam was teasing him about Sakshi, when Rohit came into his office.

"Sakshi hmmm," Rohit said mischievously, "so it seems my brother has finally fallen for a girl!"

Seeing Rohit in his office wiped Arjun's smile.

"Oh come on bro, you don't appear happy to meet me after so many months!" Rohit joked.

Sam excused himself and went away, and Arjun replied, "Maybe because you aren't trying to change at all! How much do you need this time?"

"Straight to the point!" Rohit said and mentioned a huge sum of money.  Arjun stared with disgust at Rohit. 

"Not this time! You have already spent so much on girls and gambling!" Arjun retorted back.

"Bro, you shouldn't forget that father left all his money for both of us, and you are merely a guardian for my part till I don't reach twenty-five years! So don't try to steal my part!" Rohit replied back angrily.

And then followed one of the most vicious verbal and insulting fight between these two brothers.

Arjun was adamant on Rohit trying to be more responsible, and thus refused categorically to give him more money.  And Rohit had stormed out promising to get him back for this.

Since he had an important mission, Arjun had to just go away for some time. And he was shocked on returning back when Rohit came back to visit him this time with his fiance.

Arjun hadnt wanted to meet the girl at all, but hoping that this girl might tame his brother a bit, he had accepted.  But he had been shocked when Rohit had presented Sakshi as his fiance.

That night after Sakshi went away, Arjun had wanted to beat everyone.  And for some time, Rohit behaved well and didn't play at all, so Arjun assumed that Rohit was definitely on a way to reform. And though he loved Sakshi more than everything, he thought Rohit and Sakshi both loved each other genuinely, so he had no choice but to just accept their relationship, but still given all the hurt, he had behaved like an ogre everytime Sakshi was there.
