Chapter 13

And then finally one night before the marriage, he'd been called on duty regarding a drug case.  After hours, they managed to catch the culprits in a hotel, but just as he was returning, he somewhat thought he saw Rohit in the arms of a girl. 

He followed Rohit, and finally saw them getting in a room.  Being very angry, he had knocked on the door till Rohit opened it.

"Bro, you and here?" Rohit said a bit anxiously.

Arjun entered inside and stared at the girl behind Rohit, "What is all this? Who is this girl?"

"Oh come on bro, you don't really think that I can stay with only one girl!" Rohit replied.

"And Sakshi?" Arjun asked angrily.

"What about her, she'd made a wonderful submissive innocent gullible wife," Rohit said with a cheap smile.

"I actually believed you! I thought you had changed! But you are just a scum!" Arjun said with repugnance.

Rohit started to laugh in an evil way, "Really! You refused to give me my own money! You took something which belonged to me! How does it feel when the same is done to you Bro!!! I snatched the girl you loved the most!"

Arjun couldn't believe his bro could stoop so low, and all for money.

"And bro, you cant do anything! Tomorrow I'll marry her, and she'd always be mine!" Rohit said with a snide.

Arjun closed his eyes, and saw Sakshi's face in his mind, her innocence, her happiness. No Arjun couldn't let Rohit destroy her, no matter what the price.

"I'll tell her everything, there's no way she'd marry you then!" Arjun shouted.

"And what break her heart? Break her marriage? And you think she'd believe you!" Rohit said laughing.

"She thinks you hate her, partly from your own behavior to her and the rest from my words!"

"Fine, what would you take to get away from her life?" Arjun asked angrily.

"I will give you everything just to get away from her, dump her from this fake marriage!"

"Not a bad idea, you are just waiting to jump in my place right!" Rohit asked.

"You better leave her and never come back! I'll never let you marry her!" Arjun replied furiously.

"Fine bro, everything has a price," Rohit agreed and said his price. 

"Now you know everything!" Arjun said and searched for any signs in Sakshi's eyes.  He didn't want to hurt her more, and bring back all the bad memories.

"Why didn't you tell me the truth before?" Sakshi asked, still trying to come to grasp with what Arjun told her.

She couldn't believe Rohit was so cruel, and yet she had no choice to believe Arjun, even she remembered a few odd things when Rohit was fooling her. 

Now she could see how Rohit has been fooling her, even his love proposal sounded very fake now to her. 

She turned to look at Arjun, and was happy that he broke her marriage, though she suffered a lot, still it was better than making a mistake which could have destroyed her life completely.

And gradually the truth of Arjun's love was starting to grow in her heart.  She was finally happy, she only had one final question.

"But Arjun, what about that call? The girl you loved?" Sakshi asked.

"It has always been you, only you!" Arjun said left with no pride now, and closing his eyes, leaned back on the sofa.

Sakshi looked at Arjun's profile.  She had been hurting so much just a few hours ago, and now everything was right, well almost she thought while staring at Arjun.  He had suffered a lot because of her. 

And wanting to heal him, just as he had healed her, Sakshi hugged Arjun with nothing back.  She rested her head on his chest and was happy.

"What are you doing?" Arjun asked surprised, but not unhappy at this gesture, since he hugged her back, bringing her closer to him.

"I love you," she said to him.

And then raising her head, she looked happily at Arjun, and said, "You saved me, why would I ever hate you?"

"I also gave you so much pain in the meantime!" Arjun said.

"But it was an important phase, and I'm actually happy that you stopped that marriage!" Sakshi said.

"Hain daar bahut hua, but in that meantime I also got you," Sakshi added gently.

"And we'll always be together forever!" she said and hugged him again.

Everything would work out fine now, she loved him and he loved her. She felt a kiss on her forehead and snuggled closer to him.

Because this was it. The real truth. It really was as beautifully, gloriously simple as that.
