Chapter 32

Manisha gets out of her car. She tells the driver to take the car back home. She walks up to Anurag's door. Anurag opens the door as she was about to ring the bell.

Manisha: (scared) you scared me?

Anurag: sorry what are you doing here? I thought you weren't going to talk to me.

Manisha: Priya convinced me to talk to you. I don't know why you brought the suit even when I told you not to. You know how much I want this anniversary to go well. If you wear a suit it will mess up everything.

Anurag: I'm sorry next time I'll listen to you. Ok.

Manisha: Anyways I was wondering if you could come with me to get the clothes that we brought yesterday. And while we're at it we can pick out your kurta.

Anurag: I'm sorry I wouldn't be able to come; I have to go somewhere.

Manisha: (mad) where do you have to go. You're always disappearing after 6p.m. what's so important that you leave us every time it turns 6.

Anurag: I tell you when the time is right. Right now I have to go. (Walking down the stairs)

Manisha: (walking down the stair with him. Stopping at the end of the step, yelling) But I sent my driver home.

Anurag: (getting into his car) call him back.

Pritem comes out from Anurag's house. Anurag drives away. Manisha holds on to her head. Pritem comes down the stair and stands next to Manisha.

Pritem: you want me to drive you.

Manisha: (with no attention that Pritem was next to her) Huh? Oh no I was about to call my mom, anyways.

Manisha takes out her phone about to dial her mom. Pritem lowers her phone.

Pritem: I'll drop you; I have the key to Anurag's bike.

Manisha: no it's ok

Pritem: (pulling her) come on.

Manisha and Pritem get on the bike and drive away. Pritem drive on high speed, zigzagging through the street.

Manisha: (enjoying the drive) Pritem slow down.

Pritem: (turns back to look at Manisha. Not noticing that a truck was heading their way) what goes faster.

Manisha: Are you crazy (seeing the truck coming towards them) Pritem truck!

Pritem turns around and quickly turns to the right. The truck drives by hitting the back wheel of Anurag's bike. Pritem and Manisha fall off the bike. Giving Pritem minor cuts and burses and leaving Manisha unconscious, bleeding from the head. Pritem runs to Manisha.

Pritem: (shaking her) Manisha. Manisha. Someone call the ambulance.

The ambulance arrives and takes Manisha and Pritem to the hospital. After a few minutes, Arjun, his parents, Priya, Mitesh, and Anurag come running up to Pritem and his family.

Arjun: where's my sister? How is she?

Pritem: she just woke up. The doctor is checking up on her.

Anurag: you ok

Pritem: yeah

The doctor comes out.

Vikram: how is she?

Doctor: she's ok. Nothing to worry about it's just a minor cut on her forehead which will heal in a couple of days. I just need you to sign some papers. But you could see her now.

Vikram: You go ahead I go sign the papers (talking to the doctor) chalo

Vikram leaves with the doctor. Everyone goes in.

Priya: (talking to Manisha) how you doing?

Neha: Kaisi ho beta?

Manisha: I'm fine. Just a scratch on my head no big deal.

Pritem: I'm so sorry if it wasn't for me you wouldn't be here.

Manisha: its ok it was just a minor accident… By the way how are you doing?

Pritem: I'm fine.

Vikram comes in with the cops.

Vikram: how are you beta?

Manisha: fine dad. Police?

Police officer: we need your report of what happen. Can you come with us? (Looking in his file) and Mr. Anurag Kapoor.

Anurag: yes

Police officer: you can pick your bike up at the police station tomorrow morning.

Anurag: thank you.

Pritem leaves with the officer.

Everyone continues to talk then takes Manisha home. Manisha mom and dad go to sleep. Anurag, Priya, Arjun, Manisha, Pritem, and Mitesh do to the beach behind Manisha's house. Everyone spreads a blanket on the sandy floor for themselves. Some are sitting and some are lying.

Priya: what are you going to do with the race?

Anurag: I don't know and I have no place to fix it either. My dad's repair shops are closed for remodeling.

Pritem: if it wasn't for me Manisha or you wouldn't be in this situation

Everyone except Pritem: its ok it happens.

Anurag: And by the way you know.

Pritem: yeah, yeah, yeah. (Talking like Anurag) you don't like anyone working on your bike except yourself.

Anurag picks up some sand and throws it on Pritem.

Priya: why don't you work on your bike at my Dad's repair shop? No one will be there to bug you cause after your dad signed the contract. My dad shipped all his workers to your dad shop. And everything you need will be there.

Pritem: there no need for the tools (talking like Anurag) he uses his own tools, too. (Laughing)

Anurag throws some more sand on him but this time some sand fall into Pritems mouth. Pritem begins to spit and runs inside to rinse his mouth.

Priya: but why?

Anurag: I know what's mine and I know what's not. So I don't give things that I don't own and I don't take things that I don't own.

Priya: But you still didn't answer my question.

Anurag: I meant -

Arjun: Anurag there's no need to answer. Nothing going to click (pointing to his head) in there, it allllllllll hollow.

Priya: yo -

Manisha: (cutting her off) why are you always picking on her.

Arjun: she easy like Juhi.

Mitesh: easy! Don't lie you use to get hustled by her everyday.

Everyone laughs.

Arjun: ok ok but she replaces her even if it's half the -

Priya: oh so I'm a replacement for Juhi.

Arjun: no that not what I meant.

Priya: I know what you meant. And like Juhi I'm going far from you.

Priya picks up her blanket and walks down to the shore. She spreads the blanket a foot from the shoreline.

Everyone hits Arjun and points to Priya. Pritem comes from behind and hits him, too.

Arjun: (holding his head) what was that for?

Pritem: everyone was doing it and it seemed like fun. (Looking at Priya) Why is she over there?

Mitesh: (hitting Arjun) cause this one said that Priya was Juhi's replacement. Moron.

Arjun: ok fine. I'll go

Arjun gets up and walks towards Priya

Arjun: hey I'm sorry for saying that I never meant it to go that way.

Priya: yeah like I'm going to believe that, you're just saying that because they forced you. I have ears you know.

Arjun: you're coming or not. (Priya ignores him) Fine.

Arjun Picks up Priya.

Priya: what do you think you're doing?

Arjun takes Priya into the water and drops her. Everyone begins to laugh in the back. Priya looks up at Arjun who's is also laughing.

Priya: (cleaning her face) oh so you think that was funny (Arjun nods) well I wonder what you think when I do this

She grabs his leg and pulls him down. Everyone starts to laugh. Priya and Arjun look at each other and then begin to fight. Everyone runs down to get them.

Pritem: (holding Arjun) oh no not again. These two are going to get me crazy one day.

Priya: I thought you would have man-up by now, but you're still the same loafer.

Arjun: why don't you become more of a girl?

Priya: And why don't you become more of a guy.

Arjun gets mad and pushes Manisha and Pritem. Manisha falls on top of Pritem.

Manisha: (pushing herself up) Sorry.

Pritem: It's ok.

Manisha and Pritem get Arjun off of Priya.

Manisha: Either of you stop, right now or Mitesh will start singing.

Everyone stops and looks at Manisha: what?

Manisha: it shut them up didn't it?

Priya and Arjun pull themselves out of the grip of Manisha, Pritem, Mitesh, and Anurag and continue to argue as they go into the house to change. Later come out and continue to talk and slowly fall asleep.
