Chapter 21
Once Khushi gained consciousness she was discharged asking to take rest for a day or two before getting back to the regular routine. The Raizada's left after taking assurances from both Payal and Madhumathi to call them if there be any necessary, while Payal smiled, promised to do so she was far away from thinking to ask for their help, help from the family whose member is the reason behind her sister being in this condition, Madhumathi was sincerely moved to see them being so considerate to the employees well being as a family.
...
"Khushi, If you would want I would draft your resignation and hand it over personally to HR tomorrow," stroking her sister's hair while Khushi lay on her lap she spoke what was in her mind from the time she saw Khushi lying on the stretcher in the hospital.
"Jiji!" she sat straight looking at her sister to have more explanation on the same.
"Khushi, I always wanted you to fight rightfully for what's yours, we came here to help Babuji, and you never had to face this type of environment so I always pushed you to take it as a challenge but it doesn't mean you would fight for your everyday survival, if something happens to you how would I..." before she could continue further Khushi hugged her as she saw the thin layer of tears forming in Payal's eyes.
"Jiji, why would you say that? Whatever has happened it was because of my stupidity..." and she continued to tell how she mistakenly pushed the door hard making it impossible for her to open it again in her anger over Arnav.
"Whatever it is Khushi, my heart skipped a beat seeing you in that condition and top of that he was never cordial with you in the past, see the audacity of him to pay your bills after sending you purposefully there..." and Payal continued to say about how she was escorted to the clinic without letting know her condition and her refusal to take the payment from their boss.
"Whatever it is you decide I'm with you, ok?" saying so Payal left to make some coffee, as it is she will not be able to sleep for the night why not make use of it by completing some work.
...
Khushi sat reminiscing about the incident, Arnav was the last person she expected who would come looking for her, but the moment she saw his face, maybe she was not in a condition to observe him carefully but it surely showed his concern on her state, it showed that he was genuinely worried for her. Her subconscious state was able to grasp the surroundings, she fell right into his arms, he held her close to his heart, alone carried her to the car all the nine floors down, his hurried hands secured the seat belt, her head was supported by his masculine shoulder. She was not able to respond to his frequent calls asking her to say something but was sure that he called her "KHUSHI" not Ms.Gupta but "KHUSHI". How good it felt to hear it from him, why does he call her Ms.Gupta while all the while her sister is called on her first name basis, even he wanted to be addressed as "SIR" by her instead of ASR as every other would.
"What's the delay? I was waiting for your call since long" her chain of thoughts broke when her cell rang, assuming it to be her father she didn't glance at the screen before speaking.
"Excuse Me?!"
"YOU?! I mean sir what is it?" the initial shock was covered.
"I just called to ask, ask, ask if, if you, you are...ok?"
"I'm fine," she waited for him to complete the sentence even if she understood what he wanted to ask and remained silent further allowing him to do the talk.
"Oh, ok, take care" after pondering for few seconds on what to be spoken, he simply asked her to take care and cut the phone before it becomes too awkward.
...
As much as he wanted to be away from her, he simply wanted to see if she was doing fine but Payal wouldn't hear the end of it and pushed the whole Raizada clan sweetly away from her sister. Disappointingly he returned back, from then he sat with a single file trying to concentrate but it was an unsuccessful attempt. Acknowledging his behavior of uneasiness in regards to Khushi's condition as humanity he felt good when he decided to give a call to know her condition on humanitarian grounds.
If Khushi's ringtone, a song on goddesses, startled him, her first words amazed him. Was she really waiting for his call was his first thought but hearing her shocked reply to his words cleared that she assumed the call to be of someone else's? His strong determination that there was nothing wrong calling her at this time of night vapourised the moment she asked the reason behind the call, with so much strong will he let out what was eating him since past few hours, her well being. After that, there was nothing they both could speak on, not that Khushi needs any topic to speak for hours together, he knew her vocal capabilities but as an unusual case, she remained silent forcing him silently to drop the call if he has nothing to say further and he had to abide by it.
Now that everything is clear he will be in peace to continue his work further, his family too surprised him with their sudden visit at the clinic and then their acquaintance with Gupta's. As he sat to complete his work, something struck him, Wait, Khushi spoke as if she was waiting for someone's call, who is it who would call her at this time of night and speaks to her with such ease? With that question churning his brain the work was left to be dealt with later.
...
Loneliness, that's what she felt sitting at home hearing Buaji's continuous prayers asking her NK to give her younger niece some much-needed brains. Khushi was blackmailed by her sister to take leave for two days if at all she still likes to continue working with AR, and there was no choice left with her when Payal took it upon her to be stubborn. The first day has passed in thinking about the previous day's incidents, her rescue by Arnav and then his late-night call, but from the next day she started feeling suddenly out of place, from the last one and a half month she was literally buried down under work and suddenly there is nothing to do other than hearing to buaji's hai re nk. She started missing her busy schedule, the meetings, and mostly Arnav's Ms. Gupta.
She somehow passed the second day and was looking forward to the next day where she can be back to the office when Payal made her realize it was weekend and she too made sure to stay back at home so as to spend some time with her little sister.
The weekend passed in rather slow motion than she thought it to be. It started with them visiting the temple to seek blessings for keeping her safe where they met the Raizada ladies who questioned about her well being and insisted upon them visiting Raizada mansion, if she thought Arnav is the most adamant person she met till date, she was proved wrong seeing his sister who would listen to nothing until they agreed and tagged along.
They were offered snacks and were grilled further on the family background until the family felt satisfied, making the sister's to wish for the presence of their respective bosses at the moment so as to escape in the name of work, the stars were not on their side and they sat for two long hours before running back to home promising a long extended meeting some other time. The other half of the day passed in meeting the neighbors who suddenly took interest in knowing the well being of the youngest member of the Gupta family. The night was left for helping buaji prepare dinner and then there was no energy left. Khushi hoped that at least Sunday would pass better than the last three days but Madhumathi made them remember that they have a function to attend in the neighborhood who gave invitation long back and she would hear no excuses from the girls for not attending. As it was a new place and them not knowing more than half of people they just kept moving here and there answering unlimited questions. The night went in the same way as before. Finally, Monday came and Khushi woke up earlier than usual.
...
Loneliness-that's what he felt waiting for the weekend to get over. Thursday when he was informed that Khushi would not be coming he understood the need to rest after the fiasco but the next day too she was on off, the girl made her presence known in the office with her colorful dresses and chirpy voice, and those were missing. The weekend was not what he was waiting for. She was hail and healthy to go to places and even visit RM but not the office, was the first thought which crossed his mind when he was informed of the Gupta's arrival at RM. At last, Monday arrived and Arnav woke up earlier than usual.
...
Unknown to these people even someone else was too waiting for the weekend to get over so that he can put his plan of action in course as it is it was delayed for too long and he was not the person who likes to wait.
