PART-12

 

Rajveer and Huda went through long discussions that lasted for hours. It was a closed door meeting. At the end of it they agreed that their opinion on the entire matter were poles apart and apparently they could not change the other's view. They both were stuck up with their respective viewpoints. The only way they could figure out to avoid a major showdown was to undergo a truce period, which was supposed to be a month. They decided to undertake their individual investigations after dividing the entire issue in two parts largely. All this while they were not supposed to blame anyone without evidences. Huda had to investigate the missing ammunitions with Naina and Rajveer and Alekh undertook the two kidnappings case.

 

Both of them were allotted individual cabins. Huda and Naina interrogated the entire staff, cross checked the entries of entrance and exit of the staff members to and from the Ammunition Room and all the issues made there from. While Rajveer and Alekh interrogated the people residing in Major Rastogi's neighborhood. They also checked and re-checked Major Rastogi's apartment. Both of the teams crossed each other's ways a couple of times when Alekh was interrogated by Huda and Naina was interrogated by Rajveer. But this time there wasn't the same degree of animosity, not at least on the evident levels. 20 days went by smoothly. Both the teams hardly had any clues but they carried on the work.

"I know it was my idea to wait but don't you think you have made me to wait for a bit too long."

"Long.... I told you I'll need 15 minutes to finish my work and then I'll join you for the discussion and I think I have made it in time, without having to keep you waiting."

He shook his head and looked at her with a little disappointment.

 

"Don't tell me that you have forgotten."

"Huda... Come clean. What have I forgotten?"

"You really want me to remind you that?"

"Oh come on Huda. I can't talk about something I don't even remember."

 

He smiled and got up from his chair. He came across the table and stood next to her chair slightly adjusting himself on the table. He took her hand and made her stand in front of him. She still could not figure out what he wanted to talk about. She was completely occupied with the workload and the stress of the ongoing investigations. She gave him a bewildered look.

 

Thereafter he didn't give her any chance to make another attempt of recalling things. He was already on her lips. His body brushed against her. Though she wasn't prepared she responded instantly. She herself stepped closer to him. He removed the clip that was holding her hair back in a pony. His mouth feverously kept her lips inside stirring her passion to come out while he played with her beautiful tresses. She was holding his face with one hand while the other tracked down to his neck sliding down slowly to his chest. Naina was being turned on. As she tried to increase the fervor of their kiss and their tongues started playing vehemently inside their mouth, Huda retreated. He parted leaving Naina bemused. She was enjoying the kiss and the passion inside her has been ignited. She was taken aback by the sudden withdrawal from Huda but he was in a playful mood. He smiled seeing her looking bothered.

 

"Now don't you dare tell me that you are not falling for me unless, of course, you are already in love with me! And mind you, if you deny, I'll switch sides and join Raj."

"What?" She was dumbfounded.

"Don't look surprised. You don't expect me to believe a woman who kisses a man she doesn't feel anything for."

"I didn't kiss you... You kissed me!"

"Right and all this while you have been trying so hard to ward me off. Isn't it?"

"Well....Ammmm....." She was at the loss of words.

"So tell me Captain Naina Singh, what is it that didn't let you stop me from kissing you?"

Naina smiled at him with mischief playing in her eyes.

"It's just the possibility that you might change sides."

"Really?"

"Yup."

"In that case I would never let you take your lips off mine."

 

He again took her lips in his mouth. He kissed her passionately. The vigor of his kiss drew Naina out of all her worries. She enjoyed his passion and allowed herself to be taken over by a similar passion. They were pulling each other closer into themselves because they knew that they have a tacit approval and an undeclared admiration for each other. He shifted to her cheeks and showered her face with incessant kisses. He returned to her lips and planted a peck on it. He brushed his lips against hers and in a soft whisper confessed what his heart has always told him.

"I love you Naina."

 

She looked up directly into his eyes with a fondness for him. Their faces were just a breath apart and she was more than willing to volunteer to curtail that distance. A short but passionate kiss followed before she answered him.

"I love you too."
