PART-13

Those footsteps suddenly stopped outside a closed room in the corridor that read Conference Room. A voice was audible. A telephonic conversation was going on behind that door and a voice at this end was too familiar. Infact it was so familiar that no one could have ignored the voice that was completely lost in the conversation going on post midnight. Something was fishy and to know what was that, eavesdropping was the perfect and also the only option.

"For how long is it all gonna continue?"

"Very soon... I have been hearing this for quite sometime now. But when actually this very soon thing of yours gonna happen. It's getting problematic now. If it goes on like this we'll surely be caught very soon."

"How can you be sure that we won't be caught?"

"Listen you...."

"Yes I know."

"I am running out of patience and it's getting on my nerves now. You better do something really fast or I'll have to take some drastic steps. And let me assure you if I get down to doing something you are definitely not gonna like that."

"Calm down... You are kidding me. I can't. You can escape out of this but I don't stand much chances. All they need is just one proof against me."

"I know you are doing all you can, but looks like it's not enough. You better think of something real fast."

"Okay fine. By the way, what about Rastogi? Did you think what should be done with him? He is of no use for us now."

"Wait..."

After a small pause the conversation restarted.

"Sorry... It's a mobile phone. Looks life someone forgot it here. Anyways chuck it! You tell me what's to be done now."

"Hmmm..... I guess you are right."

"Don't teach me patience. I have been very patient all this while and I know how much patient I'll need to be."

"I think I'll have to hang up. I should be in my quarter right now and not at the base."

"Okay bye. Goodnight."

Only one way conversation could be heard from outside. Though it wasn't anything less than a big success but the bigger question was 'Who was on the other side and how to find it out?'

But that had to be done anyhow and there was one sure shot way to do that.

"Lieutenant Sharma." Huda stopped Alekh.

"Yes sir."

"I am expecting a very important document today. Please make sure it's delivered to me and no one else."

"Sure sir."

"Thank you."

Later that evening, Naina saw an envelope in Alekh's hand.

"Lieutenant Sharma, what's this envelope in your hand?"

"It's for Captain Huda. He has been expecting a courier since morning."

"For Huda! Show me."

"Sorry ma'am. He has instructed that this envelope should be delivered to him and no one else."

"Oh! Fine then... You go ahead."

"Right Ma'am."

******

"Good evening Captain."

"Naina.... Tum yahan?"

"Yeah. Didn't had much to do. By the way what was in that courier you received?"

"Why?"

"Nothing... Just asking. Alekh said you have specially instructed him that he should make sure it reaches you only."

"Captain Singh..." Saying this Huda took her hands and pulled her towards himself and she landed in his lap. "Spying over me... Are you?"

"Yes.... Kya kar loge?"

"Tumhein treason ke charges mein arrest kar loonga."

Naina was taken aback because Huda had said that very seriously.

"Tum to serious ho gayi. I was just joking." He laughed.

"But good that you are here. I was about to call you."

"Why?"

"I have to you show you something. That envelope that I received. Check it out."

She took out the document from the envelope and read it. It was some report.

"This is some blood report. Whose report is this? And why do you want me to see it?"

"Because it's the report of the blood traces we found on that vase at Major Rastogi's place."

"So?"

"It says that the blood sample we found there was B+ while Major Rastogi's blood group is AB+.I cross checked that from his bio data in his personal file."

"That means we were wrong and it's not his blood. Then may be he hit some one with that during the struggle."

"Possible. But I have another theory."

"And what is that?"

"Remember I said that I believe we are being misled and now I think Major Rastogi can be the one misleading us."

"What?"

"It is quite possible. Don't you think so? I mean he was kidnapped but there is no clue about him. You were kidnapped and then released in 5 days. Doesn't it look like someone wanted the entire suspicion to fall on you and it did. No one can buy that abduction story of yours unless they believe in you completely....Like me."

"And you think it was planned by Major Rastogi?"

"Why not? Possibly he was the one who wanted you to be the scapegoat and not Raj."

"Please Huda. I don't think I want to talk about him."

"Then change your mind. This blood test was his idea, not mine."

"Fine but still... I don't think it proves anything. It's nothing more than a theory."

"But this theory has a logical base."

"What logical base?"

"Sorry Captain Singh But I think some things don't come so easily. You have to pay for them."

"Pay for them... what exactly does that mean."

"That means... bribe me."

"Bribe? Sure and what should I pay you with."

"Not much... I think I'll manage with a dozen kisses only."

"Shut Up Huda."

"As you wish."

He started at her impishly for a while.

"Come on Huda... Please tell me what makes you think that Major Rastogi is the one misleading us."

"Nope... My bribe first."

"Huda... Please. I want to know. You know how important it is for me and my career."

"Okay fine. Listen... Remember when we went to check his place that day, we found it open."

"Yes... So?"

"It had been 10 days of his abduction but even after 10 days the place looked too clean. There was hardly any dust over things. And it is absolutely impossible to have a dust free home after keeping the house open for 10 days. But that place looked like it had been ransacked just a day before we went there."

"You have got a point."

"Though I haven't discussed this with Raj but Now I think we should. What say?"

"Let's go." She got up from his lap all set to leave.

"And my kiss?"

She turned around and laughed. He looked like a small kid who has been denied his favorite toy. She went closer and gladly obliged.
