Chapter 12
PART-11
All the four met in the morning to discuss the issues. Their eyes showed that they all have had sleepless nights. Everything was way too complicated and their brains had already stopped working. But the problem was that they could not just give in. They didn't have that option.
"So Raj, I believe you don't trust what Naina told us last night."
"That's right. I don't think I have any reason to believe her."
"What do you think Alekh?" Huda turned to Alekh
"Sir whatever she told us is too difficult to believe or even understand, but as far as I know her I think I will stand by her. She has no reason to lie."
"But I still beg to differ." Rajveer was adamant.
"Raj remember that day you asked me which option would I go with and who would I blame for the current circumstances. I think I have made up my mind. I'll go with the last option. We are being deliberately misled."
"And what makes you think so?"
"Of late we have spend a few days thinking about nothing else than the two kidnappings. We have strayed from the main issue.... that of missing ammunitions. May be because that was something someone wanted us to do and we did it."
"May be you are right Huda but I still fail to understand why everything has to ultimately find a connection with Captain Singh."
"May be because you are just not interested in thinking anything beyond that." Naina snapped.
"What do you mean Captain Singh?"
"I mean that even I don't understand why you are trying to make me the scapegoat."
"What rubbish? Captain Naina Singh let me make one thing very clear... if you are in trouble that's all because of the mistakes you have made."
"Exactly.... Those were just mistakes and not crime."
"Who knows?"
"Okay, stop it both of you." Huda intervened to avoid the fight getting intense.
Naina was fuming with anger. She couldn't have stopped herself from saying more so she left the room slamming the door.
Huda looked at her in dismay and turned to Rajveer.
"If you can't believe each other or for that matter cannot even stand each other just stay away then."
Saying this he left after Naina.
He checked the entire base but couldn't find her. He presumed her to be in her quarter and went to check her. As he neared her quarter he could hear some sounds coming from her place.... Sounds of things hitting the ground and smashing. He rushed there.
As he stepped inside a vase fell almost next to his feet. He saw Naina throwing things around blindly. She had lost her temper completely and was trying to take out her irritation by breaking down everything she could find.
"Naina Stop it!" He yelled.
She became all the more furious with his attempts to stop her. She took a paperweight from the table and threw it near him.
"Just get out of here." She screamed.
"Naina have you lost it? For god's sake, just stop it."
He reached her and snatched another showpiece from her hand that she was about to throw. He put his hands on her shoulders and shook her.
"Naina... Enough! Raj ke kuch bhi kehne se koi fark nahin padta. It doesn't make any difference till he actually has a proof against you."
"Then he'll find it or better still.... he'll create it." She was almost in tears. Her apprehensions flooded her eyes.
"No Naina, he won't. He won't do anything like that ever. Trust me."
"I trust you Huda but I don't trust him. He won't let me go away with my mistakes so easily. He'll ruin me."
"No he won't be able to do that ever. I am with you."
"And what do you think you can do... Nothing. I know you cannot do anything here. It's all over."
"Naina...." he could not find words. He was getting a bit hyper himself to see her shouting like that. He wiped her tears and took her face in his hands. He was trying to keep his temper in control.
"Just GO!!" She screamed again.
"No Dammit... I won't."
Saying this he tightened his grip and pulled her face closer taking her lips inside his own. Initially she tried to free herself but could not resist the warmth of that tender kiss. She gradually started enjoying the wonderful feeling. She stopped her retreating attempts and kept her hands on his chest. He held her by waist and pulled her closer and tighter into himself. The feeling of being held by a man and kissed somehow eased her. She closed her eyes and finally responded. They stood like that tasting each others lips and holding each other firmly for about 15 minutes. They parted.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes." She answered but that wasn't anything more than a soft whisper.
He took her hands in his own and made her sit on the sofa. He kneeled down next to her.
"Naina... I will do everything I can for you because I trust you and you'll have to trust me on that."
"I do."
"Good. Then just keep your temper in control and avoid getting into any kind of argument with Raj. Don't infuriate him. I'll handle every thing else. Okay?"
"Yeah."
"Fine then. You just calm down. Get a grip over yourself and I'll see you in office."
She simply nodded.
Huda got up to leave but he had hardly reached the door when she called out his name to stop him.
"Yeah." He turned back.
"I want to ask you something."
"What?"
"Why did u.....ki...kiss me?" She was stammering.
He chuckled.
"Why did you respond?" He questioned her back.
She lowered her eyes.
"Okay... lets be fair and honest. Since you asked me first I should answer you before I ask you anything."
She looked at him. He was gazing at her with a mischievous smile on his face. He took a pause before he answered her.
"I think I am falling for u. Is it the case with you as well?"
She didn't had an answer. It was almost a confession of love for her from a man who has just kissed her. But the problem was even she had enjoyed the kiss without giving herself a satisfying reason for that.
"I am not in a rush. I think I can wait for your answer."
He kissed her on the corners of her lips and walked out. Had he turned even for once, he could not have missed those rosy cheeks and that little smile. She was blushing. She liked him and didn't need a second thought about it at all.
