"What happened after that?" An excited Purvi asked.
Taani had narrated the events of the weekend to Purvi on her constant persistence. Purvi was squeaking like a teenager on learning the same. Taani tried to maintain the decorum and act mature but her insides were screaming her happiness. She was having second thoughts earlier about their relationship due to Rey's aloofness and his closeness with Sharon. But, the time she got to spend with him over the weekend made her realize that she had indeed taken the right decision.
"Phir voh tujhe chodne aaya?" Purvi asked.
"Nahi." Taani answered.
"Kyun?"
"He was insisting, par maine hi mana kiya. Roads clear ho chuke the by then. Plus, he lives on the opposite end of the city. Why trouble?"
"How sweet!" Purvi teased.
"Dekh, tu bhi Arjun ki tarah bakwas karne mat lag ja." Taani warned her.
"Wah! Meri hi baate ho rahi hai. Were you guys missing me?" Arjun joined them. "Waise aaj Worli aane ka plan kyun banaya? Humesha toh hum Marines jaate hai." He further asked.
"Taani ko yahan aane ka mann ho raha tha. Toh hum yahan aagaye." Purvi answered and hugged him.
"Accha?" He gave a questioning look to Taani.
"Haan." Taani sneered.
"Waise, tu phone pe itna excited kyun tha?" Purvi asked remembering about his call asking their whereabouts.
"Are you guys serious?" He was stunned. "Tum dono apne mails check nahi karti kya?"
"Mail?"
They both opened their emails and screamed at the top of their voices.
"I don't believe it. They've called us for an interview!" Taani said with glee.
"Weekend pe aisa kya hua ki next day hi mail aagaya?" Arjun smirked.
"Arre bohot kuch hua." Purvi teased.
"Shut up Purvi. Aur Rey ko iss baare mein pata bhi nahi hai." Taani rolled her eyes at them.
"Reyansh se Rey? Yeh kab hua?" Arjun teased.
"It's getting late. We should leave." Taani got up and they burst out laughing at her expense.
Friday morning, Taani, Arjun and Purvi were standing at the reception of SRS Creations waiting for their interview session to start. Over the week, Taani had gotten many occasions to inform Rey about her applying to SRS but refused to do so as she didn't want to get the internship due to any influence from him.
"Aur kitni der wait karna hai?" Arjun sulked sitting in the waiting area near the reception.
"Jab tak hume bulaya nahi jaata." Taani stated.
"Waise madam, tu hume Rey se kab milwayegi?" Purvi asked.
"Kyun milna hai?" Taani asked tongue-in-cheek.
"Uske friends ko milna tha toh tu uske ghar tak gayi. And now it's our turn toh kyun milna hai?" Arjun taunted.
"Aisa nahi hai yaar. He was busy this week. Warna main milwati na." Taani answered.
"Abhi se usse defend karna shuru? Purvi, humari friend buri tarah se phas gayi hai." Arjun chuckled.
"Good morning." Taani heard the receptionist greet someone.
"Morning Zenia." Taani heard a familiar voice and looked up to see three people standing at the reception with their back towards her.
"Itne din kahan thi?" Rey asked Zenia.
"Meri di ki shaadi thi, so leave pe thi." She replied.
"Good to see you back."
"You all as well. Pichle do saal office bohot hi shaant tha due to your absence."
"Abh agar kaam karne wale log hi nahi honge toh office shaant hoga hi na." Swayam chuckled.
"That's true." Zenia giggled.
"Accha jokes aside, Paa ke assistant se kehke sab pending files cabin mein bhijwa dena." Rey instructed her and she noded.
He turned back to head to his cabin when he saw Taani and two others staring at him. He smiled at her and moved towards the sitting area to greet her.
"Hey."
"Hi."
"Tum yahan kaise? Aur yeh tumhare friends hai?" He asked referring to the two who were standing right beside her.
"Yeah, my friends, Arjun and Purvi." She introduced them to each other.
"Tumne bataya nahi, tum yahan kaise?"
"Milne aayi hogi aur Zenia ne appointment ke naam pe ruka diya hoga." Sharon commented and continued, "Taani, next time agar milna ho toh seedha cabin mein ghus jaana. Itna toh haq banta hai iska. Hai na Rey?" She smirked.
"Shar." He glared at her.
On the mention of Sharon's name, Arjun cocked his brows at Taani, earning her glare.
"Voh actually, humara interview hai." Taani answered.
"Interview?" Swayam asked.
"Yeah, exactly?" Rey furrowed his brows.
"Internship ke liye apply kiya tha. Ussi ki interview hai." She explained.
"Tum toh interior.. Wait a minute, Mansi ke under?" Rey widened his eyes at her as she nodded.
"Tum aise kyun puch rahe ho?" Arjun asked him.
"Cause it's weird. Manas kabse interns hire karne lag gayi?" Rey looked at Swayam.
"Woh baadmein soch, pehle yeh dekh ki inka interview voh leni wali hai." Swayam reminded him.
"Is she that strict?" Purvi asked.
"Kind of. Just don't try to impress her. Be yourselves in the interview." Rey suggested.
"Rey sir, aapke liye call hai. Cabin mein transfer kar doon?" Zenia asked from the reception.
"Zenia main yahin pe hoon toh tum cabin mein transfer kyun karogi?" He said with clenched jaws.
"Rey, orders follow kar rahi hai yaar voh. Tu kyun? Chod. Go attend the call." Swayam motioned him to go.
"Free kab tak hojaogi?" Sharon asked Taani.
"Pehle start toh ho." Arjun grumbled.
"Lunch tak hojayenge free." Taani answered Sharon, ignoring Arjun.
"Great. Canteen mein rukna phir."
Taani nodded and just then Rey rejoined them with a huge smile plastered on his face. Unknowingly, it got a smile on all their faces.
"Arjun, Purvi, Taani, please come this way." Zenia called them.
"All the best." Rey greeted them.
Zenia took them to the room where the interviews were to be conducted.
"Why the hell are you grinning?" Sharon asked Rey.
"Khatri ka call tha. He wanted to know if we are still interested in the deal."
"And?" Swayam asked.
"Well, we both have to go for inspection."
"Why only you two? Main bhi aa rahi hoon." Sharon said.
"Aur Delhi kaun jayega?" Swayam reminded her of her trip to Delhi.
"Main office mein kya karungi?" She pouted.
"Woh files send karne bole hai na, arrange them on priority basis. That'll make it easy for us to start next week."
"Fine!" She sulked
"Bye." They both left.
"Hello guys, I'm Disha Sharma. I'm from HR. So, basically I'm here to have a talk with you before we start with the interviews." She smiled at them.
"Hi." They responded back.
"You guys comfortable with English?" She asked.
"Yeah." They responded.
"Let me introduce you to SRS. Our company is primarily a construction company started by CEO Mr. Rannvijay Singhania, along with his partners, Gautam Rai Prakash and Rishi Shekhawat. At this current day, we are dominating the Indian market with branches in all the major cities. Internationally, we are well acclaimed in Australia and London. And recently we have entered the American market as well. We don't just build, we create and hence we have architectures, builders and interior designers under one roof. Now, coming to your field of interest, what do you know about the interior designing department of SRS?"
"That SRS introduced it some ten years back." Arjun answered.
"Fifteen, actually." Disha corrected him.
"Yeah, and the interior designing of all the construction projects of SRS is done by this department itself." Purvi added.
"And in addition to that, we take up external projects as well. What else?"
"That Mansi Roy heads this department." Taani stated.
"Yes, she is the head of the west and the north zone. Anything more?"
The three looked at each other and wondered what answer she was expecting. On getting no answer from them, she herself answered.
"We have recently tied up with a foundation and we are helping to improve the infrastructure of the primary public schools and make them a better place for the students to study."
"Oh yeah, I read that sometime back." Arjun said.
"Good. So, let's discuss about your job. Since you guys will be interning here, you will not be getting any direct assignments. You will work under supervisors."
"What about the working hours?" Arjun asked.
"Yeah, we haven't completed our college yet. So, what would be the exact schedule?" Taani added.
"We'll discuss that after you clear your interviews. Now, can I have a copy of your resume?"
She went through the resumes and arranged them in order. She then told them the order for their interviews. First was Purvi, followed by Arjun and last Taani. She told them to head to the adjacent room, one by one, where the interviews would be conducted by Mansi Roy and Chetak Shah, the HR head.
...
Arjun and Purvi were done with their interviews. It was Taani's turn. She had had a talk with Purvi and had inquired about the questions which were asked to her. She was nervous but Purvi boosted up her confidence. Purvi told her to follow Rey's advice, as that did help her. Taani walked into the interview room.
"Good morning." She greeted the two interviewers.
"Morning. Have a seat." Chetak greeted while Mansi smiled at her.
"Taani, tell us a little about yourself." He said going through her CV.
"I'm Taani Raichand, currently studying in INIFD. I've done my schooling in Jodhpur from Elite High School. I always wanted to be an interior designer. As a child I loved to decorate my room and as I grew up by hobby became my passion." She said with a smile.
"You mentioned that you moved from Jodhpur to Mumbai. Any particular reason for that?" Mansi asked.
"I wanted to study at INIFD as I had heard a lot about it." Taani answered.
"In your resume, you've written that you like to sketch and paint. What sort of paintings do you make?" Chetak asked.
"Nothing fancy, just random abstract paintings."
Mansi's phone rang and her assistant Kiya, who was standing behind her said, "it's Sharon ma'am."
"Cancel it and remind me to call her back." Mansi instructed her.
"Taani, tell me why did you apply here for internship?" Mansi continued with Taani.
"For some work experience, as it would be helpful in the future." Taani answered and was about to continue when Mansi's phone rang again.
"Rey sir." Kiya informed and Taani's head sprung up at the mention of his name.
"Tell him that I'm conducting interviews and will call him back."
Laughing at something that Rey said, Kiya disconnected the call. Mansi glared at her for her unprofessional behavior and she quickly composed herself.
"So, where were we? Yeah, you were telling why did you want to work here." Mansi gained back Taani's attention.
"For experience ma'am." Taani answered, a little distracted.
"I guess that's it." Chetak said looking at Mansi, who nodded at him. "Lastly, before you go, you must know that interns do not receive any stipend. Are you okay with that?" He asked Taani.
"Yes." Taani answered.
"Thank you. Please wait outside, we'll let you know about the result." He dismissed her.
"Thank you." She left.
"Dude, this place is amazing." Swayam said scouting the location.
"I know, but ek problem hai. It's pitched at a price too high and Khatri isn't ready to negotiate." Rey informed him.
"Toh abh?"
"Dusre locations bhi dekh raha hoon main aur isko hold pe rakha hai. But this idiot wants to finalize the deal. He has another party who is willing to pay the said amount."
"Can we not manage?"
"Fifty ka difference hai. Manage ho sakta hai, but.."
"Yeah I know. Toh kya kare?"
"I was thinking ki one on one baith ke negotiate karte hai. Twenty-five bhi kam kiya toh we'll be able to manage."
"Try karte hai. As this location is the best I've seen so far and if we get it, humare liye bohot beneficial hoga." Swayam agreed.
"I'll call him abhi." Rey was about to dial his number when he got another call.
"Manas!" He answered.
"Kyun mere naam ki band bajate ho tum log?" Mansi said from the other end.
"Itna accha nickname diya hai teko. Kya burai hai usme?" He chuckled.
"Call kyun kiya tha?" She sighed as she knew it was a never ending argument.
"Sharon ko kuch kaam tha. Uska call nahi uthaya toh she asked me to call you."
"Mujhe samajh jana chahiye tha. Aur tum kya jokes crack kar rahe the Kiya ke saath? Pata hai na ki interview chalu tha. And that Kiya, she just cracks up anywhere." Mansi reprimanded.
"Joke kahan? I just said ki Manas ko bol to go easy on the interviewees." He chuckled.
"As if I was torturing them." Mansi rolled her eyes at him.
"Waise, tu kabse freshers ko hire karne lag gayi?" He asked her.
"Meri choice kahan thi."
"Matlab?"
"See, with the new tie up already in play, bohot work load hai. Upar se tum teeno wapas aaye ho toh main samajh gayi ki mera kaam double se triple hone wala hai. So, we needed some extra hands. And these three landed in at the right time. Inse help bhi milegi and we won't even have to pay them." Mansi smiled widely.
"Why so? Six months internship ki toh stipend hoti hai na?"
"On paper, yeh teeno part time kaam karne waale hai. So, the working days come to about three months. And according to our policy, no stipend."
"Smart!"
"Woh toh main hoon hi!"
"Accha sunn interview hogaye na? Shar ko call karke puch le ki kaam kya tha. I have some work to do."
"Deal with Khatri?" Mansi asked.
"Yup."
"He's shrewd. Don't forget that." She reminded him.
"I won't." He sighed.
"Good luck! You'll need it."
"Thanks." He ended the call.
"Hum usko aise call karte rahe na toh one day she is going to stop answering our calls." Swayam said once Rey disconnected.
"I know. But usko irritate karne mein maza bohot aata hai." Rey chuckled.
"That's true." Swayam too joined him.
"Lunch ke liye kahin jaye? Bohot bhook lagi hai. Uske baad uss Khatri se bhi meeting fix kar lenge." Rey suggested.
"Chalo." Swayam agreed.
...
"I'm surprised ki tu Sharon ke saath Delhi nahi ja raha." Rey told Swayam after they were done ordering food.
"Woh apne parents se milne ja rahi hai. Main wahan jaake kya karta?"
"Tu bhi unse mil leta. After all, abh toh sasural hai voh tera." Rey chuckled.
"Tu apne sasural kitne baar gaya hai? Aaya bada meko bolne wala." Swayam retorted.
"Point toh hai. But, at least main unhe shakal dikha chuka hoon. Saale tune toh voh bhi nahi kiya abh tak."
"Meri shakal dekh chuke hai voh kai baar."
"Haan par abh tu official damad ho gaya hai toh baat alag hai na." Rey teased.
"Jitni chahe karle bakwaas, time aane par main bhi lunga teri class!" Swayam grinned victoriously at his attempted rhyme.
"Bohot ganda tha." Rey reprimanded.
"Oh please, terese toh kaafi better tha." Swayam argued.
"What rubbish!"
"Exactly, rubbish hote hai tere attempts to rhyme."
"My rhymes are not shit. Why don't you accept it?"
"This was definitely shit!"
After they were done with lunch, the waiter got their check and placed it in front of Rey. Still arguing with Swayam, Rey pulled out his wallet.
"Mera card kahan hai?" He panicked.
"Treat chahiye toh seedhe bol na. Aise naatak kyu kar raha hai?" Swayam commented.
"Main naatak nahi kar raha. I seriously don't have my card."
"Last kab use kiya tha?" Swayam asked giving the waiter his card.
"Shit!" Rey cursed remembering something.
"Kya hua?"
"Shar ke paas hai. She was ordering something and uska card accept nahi ho raha tha. Damn! Uss se lena bhool gaya. Bloody she even knows my pin." Rey slapped his forehead.
"Good luck!" Swayam chuckled.
"Ugh, why are we waiting here again?" Purvi asked Taani.
Purvi was clearly bored of the waiting. The results of the interview were out and all three of them were selected. They were supposed to celebrate yet, they were seated idly in the canteen.
"Sharon ne kaha tha to wait. Usko bina bataye chale gaye toh usse bura lagega." Taani told Purvi.
"Meko sachchi bata, yeh Sharon sautan se saheli kaise ban gayi?" Arjun asked.
"Seriously?" Taani gave him a disgusted face.
"Yeah, that was bad. But this change? How?" He was persistent.
"Hey guys." Sharon joined them.
"Hi." Taani greeted her.
"Bohot time se ruki ho kya?" Sharon asked her.
"Nahi, just a little time."
Arjun rolled his eyes at her lie and Taani kicked him under the table.
"That's really sweet of you. But please, next time if you're lying make sure that your friends are in with you." Sharon suggested seeing Arjun and Purvi's sullen face which clearly told that they were waiting for a long time.
They both corrected their faces and greeted her.
"Waise congratulations." Sharon lauded them.
"Tumhe kaise pata chala?" Taani asked her.
"Manas se baat hui thi meri, usne bataya." Sharon told her.
"Manas?" Purvi asked.
"Mansi. We call her Manas." She chuckled.
"Tum yahan akeli hi aayi?" Arjun asked Sharon.
"Akeli matlab? Dusra kaun chahiye tha?" She retorted.
"He meant Rey and Swayam tumhare saath nahi aaye?" Taani explained Arjun's statement.
"Missing him already? Not bad." Sharon teased.
Taani flushed at her comment.
"What the hell! Hum tease karte hai toh tu humpe chad jaati hai aur isne kiya toh yeh reaction!" Purvi was astonished.
"Very bad Taani." Sharon giggled at Purvi's complaint.
Sharon's phone rang and Taani was thankful for the distraction.
"Okay, now I get it ki isko itna jaldi tune befriend kaise kar liye." Arjun whispered to Taani. "She's damn friendly. I mean we just met and here she is joking around with us." He added. Taani smiled warmly at him.
"Bol Rey." Sharon answered the call.
Taani looked at her from the corner of her eyes keeping a straight face. She didn't want to show that she was interested in their talk.
"Nahi office mein hi hoon. Kyun? Mere paas? Nahi toh. Accha hold, let me check." She went through her wallet and pulled out a card. "Oh yeah, it's with me." She said sheepishly.
"Are you planning on returning it?" They all heard him as she kept her phone on speaker mode.
"Abhi kaise karu? I'm leaving in like an hour." Sharon told him.
"Do one thing leave it in my drawer. Main ghar jaate time pick kar lunga."
Sharon was about to agree when she glanced at Taani and smiled widely.
"Don't worry Rey. Your card will be in safe hands." She had a smirk lingering on her lips.
"What the hell are you planning to do?" Rey asked sternly.
"You chill na."
"Shar, don't you dare mess around. Hum dono abhi meeting ke liye ja rahe hai, please don't land into any trouble."
"Yeah yeah bye. Aur deal sign karke hi aana." She disconnected the call.
Taani, Arjun and Purvi looked at each other and tried to guess what was coming their direction, while Sharon had an evil smile on her face.
"Chale?" She announced.
"Kahan?" Taani asked.
"Tum teeno ko job laga hai. Treat toh banti hai!"
"Uski kya jarurat hai?" Purvi tried to avoid as it was awkward. They had just met Sharon.
"Of course, jarurat hai. Abhi chalo as I have a flight to catch in three hours."
"Exactly, why rush now? Hum restaurant pahuchenge and then you'll have to leave." Taani pointed out.
"Don't worry about that. Airport ke paas Grand Hyatt hai wahan chalte hai."
Arjun, Purvi and Taani looked at each other and gulped thinking about how expensive the place is. It was surely going to burn a hole in their wallets.
"Sharon, hum kahin aur bhi jaa sakte hai. Grand Hyatt is too expensive." Taani tried to reason.
"Tu tension kyu le rahi hai? Treat toh tere boyfriend ki taraf se hai." Sharon showed her Rey's credit card.
"Listen, I don't think that's right. Especially for the two of us to tag along." Arjun said referring to Purvi and himself. "You two girls can carry on." He added.
"Hush it. All four of us are going and now!" Sharon dragged them out to her car where her driver was waiting with her bags.
...
"Sharon, credit card use karne ke liye security pin ki jarurat padti hai na?" Arjun asked tongue-in-cheek.
"Do I look that dumb to you? Pin pata hai meko." She retorted.
"Peace." Arjun showed her the peace sign.
"Chuck all this, mujhe tum yeh batao ki uss din hum mile the tabhi tumne iss interview ke baare mein kyu nahi bataya?" Sharon questioned Taani.
"Tabhi interview ke liye call nahi aaya tha. Isiliye kuch kaha nahi tha maine." Taani defended her actions.
"You guys still have a semester left na? Toh job kaise?" Sharon asked.
"Humare classes ka schedule is three days a week. So, baaki ke days office." Purvi explained.
"You mean part time?"
"Yeah."
"And for how long?"
"Roughly, six months." Arjun answered.
"And stipend kitni hai?" Sharon asked.
"Actually, we aren't getting paid." Taani told her.
"Really? As far as I know, three months ke upar sabko stipend hai." Sharon wondered.
"All three of us were informed during the interview that we won't be getting any stipend." Purvi said.
"Stipend or no stipend, I'm sure you guys will enjoy working. Yahan ke interior designing department mein sab madcaps bhare huye hai." Sharon laughed.
"Par maine suna hai ki Mansi ma'am bohot hi jyada strict hai." Purvi said.
"Strict toh hai, but she gets the better out of you. Toh uske under kaam karna ek curse ke saath ek boon bhi hai."
"It seems like you've worked a lot with her." Arjun asked.
"See, I'm working in the company for the last three, three and a half years. In all these years, majority of the projects ussi ke paas gaye hai for interior. Hence, itna pata hai." Sharon explained.
"I can't wait to join." Arjun commented.
"Kab hai joining?"
"Monday." Taani informed.
"This?"
"Yup. The thing is college if off for a week. So, this entire week we are asked to come to office to know the functioning and stuff." Taani told Sharon.
Their food arrived and they relished the feast. Sharon kept telling them to not be shy in ordering. Taani tried to negotiate with Sharon as she was about to order more, but couldn't win against Sharon. She somewhere felt that it was because she was around, that Sharon decided to take a dig at Rey.
"Humne itna order toh kar liya treat ke naam pe, but what if he changes the pin?" Arjun asked after they were done.
"Rey aisa karega toh nahi. Par agar kiya toh meri pocket khali hojayegi." Sharon made a sad face.
"Sirf tumhari?" Taani asked.
"Yup! He'll kill me if I let you pay!" Sharon exclaimed.
Taani gave an awkward smile to Sharon and they continued eating their lunch.
"Anything else ma'am?" The waiter asked.
"Check please." Sharon called for the check.
"I'm weirdly excited to see ki kitne ka phatka pada hai." Arjun chuckled.
"Honestly, me too." Sharon agreed.
The waiter arrived with the bill and they were astonished to see that the bill had come to around twenty thousand.
"Rey is going to kill me!" Sharon said after making the payment.
"Maine kaha tha ki kahin aur chalte hai." Taani said out of guilt.
"Pagal ho kya? Usse lootne ke mauke jyada nahi milte. Aur jab milte hai toh unhe use karna chahiye." Sharon retorted.
"I'll just be back. Mujhe washroom jana hai." Purvi excused herself.
"I'll join you." Sharon said.
"Excuse me as well." Arjun too left.
"Welcome Mr. Singhania and Mr. Shekhawat."
"Hello Mr. Khatri. Humari phone pe baat hui thi."
"Yeah yeah, please have a seat." He offered them to sit.
"Actually, hume aapse kuch baat karni thi iss deal ke baare mein." Rey started.
"Right Mr. Singhania, aapse baat hui thi iss pe and I understand ki aapko yeh jagah chahiye but the amount that you've kept forward is really low. I mean this is in the heart of the city. And don't get me wrong but people are willing to pay much more than you are offering. Phir bhi aapne kaha toh maine hold karke rakhi hai yeh jagah."
"Thank you for that. But the problem is that it is a little over our budget. Aur yahi main aapko uss din samjhane ki koshish kar raha tha." Rey told him.
"Aapko budget ki problem? Yeh kya mazak kar rahe hai aap Mr. Singhania? Aapke dad ki company ki valuation itni hai ki aap aise pachaas places khareed sakte hai. Maybe, uss se bhi jyada." Mr. Khatri said smugly.
Rey was infuriated with his smugness. He clenched his jaws to calm himself. He did not want to lash out as this place was of real interest to them. And even though Mr. Khatri was right, this place was not for the company so he couldn't ask for his father's favors. Swayam saw Rey struggling to hold his composure and hence decided to take over.
"Mr. Khatri, I'll get straight to the point. We really loved this place and we were hoping that you would be ready to negotiate with us." Swayam said.
"I'm sorry Mr. Shekhawat, I don't think that will be possible." Mr. Khatri stated. "There is another party who is willing to pay the said amount. If you really want this place, you'll have to pay more than they are willing."
"I'm afraid, we can't do that." Swayam replied.
"I guess, that's it then." Mr. Khatri concluded with a light smirk.
"Thanks for the time you took out." Swayam said and got up to leave followed by Rey.
...
"Yaar yeh phone pe toh ready tha negotiate karne ke kiye. Abh kya hua?" Rey snarled once they were outside the meeting room.
"Rey calm down. This isn't the only place left in Mumbai. We will find a better place. Trust me." Swayam tried to calm him down.
"Kaise yaar Swayam? Yeh location kitni perfect thi. And it didn't need a lot of work to be done. How are we going to find another place and soon?" Rey was frustrated.
Mr. Khatri walked out of the room and smirked seeing the two.
"You know, aap dono negotiate karne aaye the aur shayad main maan bhi jata. But you tell me, agar tumhe pata chale ki koi Grand Hyatt gaya hai sirf lunch ke liye aur yahan aake yeh kahe ki budget problem hai usse aur negotiate kare, toh kya tum agree karoge? That's so double standards." Saying so Mr. Khatri walked off.
"Sharon!" Rey immediately cursed her.
"Rey don't react, please."
"Swayam, main abhi aaya." Rey walked off.
Rey dialed Sharon's number and as soon as it got connected he lashed out on her.
"Sharon, I had warned you not to mess around. Kya jarurat thi Grand Hyatt jaane ki? Aur agar ja bhi rahi thi toh ek baar bata deti. Do you know yahan kitni badi problem ho gayi hai? We've lost the deal, all thanks to you. And you know very well what this deal meant to us. Kitni baar kaha hai ki jo bhi karna hai voh soch samajh ke kar. But nahi, you have to always act impulsively! Aur do logon ka lunch itna expensive kabse hone laga? Iss se better toh tu mera card leke Delhi chali jaati. Yeh deal toh humare haath lagti! Ek toh uss Khatri ko bhi pata nahi kaise pata chala iske baare mein. Negotiate toh durr, he wanted to raise the price even more. Aaj tu lunch pe nahi gayi hoti toh abhi hum deal sign kar rahe hote. We've lost the deal Shar, we've lost the deal." Rey's voice broke down by the end.
"Rey, yeh kya kar raha hai tu?" Swayam snatched the phone from him and disconnected the call.
"Swayam, phone de. I'm not done yet."
"Rey, hosh mein aa. Tu acchi tarah se jaanta hai isme Sharon ki koi galati nahi hai. Khatri never wanted this deal to happen and he was just looking for a reason to call it off. Please just calm down. Hum iss se bhi better place dhund nikalenge. Please abhi yahan se chal."
Swayam made Rey sit in the car and drove off.
"Taani kisika call toh nahi aaya tha na?" Sharon asked.
Taani turned around and Sharon noticed that her eyes were moist.
"What's wrong babe?" She asked her.
"Nothing, just eyes mein kuch chala gaya tha." Taani made up an excuse.
"Sure?"
"Yeah."
"Chale guys?" Arjun and Purvi too joined them.
"Yup. Let's leave." They all left.
...
"Kya mujhe Sharon ko Rey ke call ke baare mein batana chahiye? He was clearly angry on her. Agar Sharon ne unhe call kiya toh? But main Sharon se kya kahun? Rey is blaming her, when clearly, I am the one at fault. He sounded so hurt. I shouldn't have agreed to come here in the first place. Interview ke baad nikal jaati toh yeh sab nahi hota. Meri wajah se Rey Sharon ko iss sab ke liye responsible maante hai. I should meet him. But, how will I face him?" Fear gripped Taani's heart.
