Chapter 1
MayUr One Shot-
She stood there, shocked at her own plight. But she wasn't the only one! All the people who had come there for the wedding, were looking at mayank and nupur with a shocked expression.
Weren't they supposed to be together? Then why was mayank getting married to shambavi, nupurs best friend? What was wrong? How did they break up? And since when were shambavi and mayank together?
There were so many questions. But Alas, there was only one answer, mayank and his stupid ego! Once he decides somethings right, that was done, no more questions.
But today he had down rightedly duffled all extremes. he had proved to the world how disgusting he could be to leave the love of his life for a playful remark-'tumhe koi ladki nahi milne waali!'
And so he went ahead to show nupur that he could get any girl, even nupurs own best friend, shambavi.
***
And that was the main reason why today he stood today in the open grey cemetery, with a bouquet of red roses near the small head stone which said-
Nupur bhushan
1984-2004
He slowly knelt down beside the stone sliding his hand down the embedded text with a lump forming in his throat. He could still remember those days, those beautiful days he had had with this crazy talkative yet lovable girl who never missed a day off saying-'mayank mujhe kabhi akela mat chodna! Main mar jaoongi.' And he, he would give her empty promises of love, trust, and loyalty. All of it seemed so naive now.
He closed his eyes in surrenderance to the stone lying in front of him.
5 long years had come and gone, but this stone remained intact, just the way it had been when he had come here to burry her, her lifeless corpse hanging down the white logs, preserving the once lively sparkling eyes which he had throde with his own thorns.
Even after five long years, he could still recall perfectly what had happened afterneath. The day after the wedding he had broken off with shambavi, telling her she was a snorty pig to give away herself against her best friend. And delighted with himself he had gone to see nupur, maybe to just tell her it was just a stupid joke.
Alas life had never given him that chance.
He still remembered the nauseatic feeling he had got when he entered nupurs house that day. Everything was jumbled about in an array. A strange smell was dissolving into the air.
He slowly walked upto the wierd smell of flesh coming from nupurs room, and stood petrified at the sight that awaited him.
She lay there, a sharp butcher knife in one hand, and the other one lay numb with blood. Where the blood was coming through, he didn't understand, since everything was filled with blood, but he assumed it to be her wrists she had cut open.
He slowly approached her looking deep into those once lively hazel eyes, knowing only too well that he had lost her, lost her forever.
He called up the sanjeevani hospital before going and sitting beside her, taking her head upon his lap.
As she felt the load on her head, she opened her eyes to the one guy who she had once asked god to be able die for. Her wish had been fulfilled.
'mmm...uhhh... mmaayankk...'
Her voice stretched as she tried to speak in her pain.
Mayank- nupur.. nupur just relax. Maine hospital phone kar diya hai!
Mayank said out of plain panic. He couldn't lose her, he cant lose her, she was the only one. This wasn't happening!
'tum... shami ka.. kaah.. kahann hai?'
Mayank- main aur shambavi saath nahi hai nupur. Maine to bas wedding.. aise hi..
But he suddenly stopped mid way. There was an unusual coldness spreading through her head, her face had gone white, and her eye looked wavered, lost.
'nupur?.. nupur??'
He said trying to make her move, just one last time. But it was too late. She lay there pampered in his arms, a lifeless corpse, as the tears slowly started speeding down his eyes down her wounded wrist.

2 weeks later-
Mayank who was rummaging through nupurs study to remove all those books from there, in order to empty the house, suddenly found a note with the same stomach wrenching familiar petite hand writing..
He slowly ripped it open and read.
Read till the tears flowed down his lips down his throat. it said-
Dearest mayank,
mujhe maloom hai ki tumne ye shaadi apne marzi se ki hai. Isliye main tumhaare shaadi shudha zindagi mein hamesha ek unchaha kaanta banke nai rehne chaahti. Ye sirf shamu ki insecurity badayegi. Isliye maine aaj ek faisla liya hai. Mujhe tum sab se door jaana hoga. Isliye main jo kar rahi hoon wahi thik hai! Lekin jaane se pehle main tumse kuch baatein karna chahoongi, apne dil ko halka karne ke liye.
Tumse is dil ki ek sach kehne chaahti hoon mayank. Tum is dil mein aise bas gaye ho, jaise raj simran se, jaise kaajal aankhon se, jaise bhawren phoolon se. Ek mod tha zindagi ka mayank jab maine apne zindagi se apna sab kuch kho diya tha, meri maa, mera bhai, meri bhabhi! Wo is duniya mein mere liye sab kuch the! Unne mujhe chalna sikhaya, mera galtiyon ko maaf kiya, mera unkahee baton ko samjha. Par jab wo chale gaye, meri zindagi ek khora khagaaz banke reh gayee. 4 saal maine akele ek hostel mein bitaye. Bahut koshish ki maine unhe bhulne ki, lekin nahi bhul payee main mayank. Phir ek din baba ka phone aaya, wo aur gunjan mujhe Mumbai aane par majboor kar rahe the. Aur wahi mujhe tum mile! Meri zindagi ki sabse haseen galti. Tumhaare pyaar ne mujhe phir se jeena sikhaya mayank. Aur iska main tumhe jitna shrey doon wo bhi kum hoga. Tum na hote to aaj main ek asylum mein padi sad rahi hoti!
Mujhe pata hai mayank, shayad main tumhaareliye kabhi sahi thi hi nahi. Mera matlab hai mere jaisi ek chote shehar ki ladki, jisne sirf sapne dhekhe hai. Aaj tumhaare aankhon se is duniya ki haqeeqat dhekh rahi hoon mayank. Tumne bilkul thik kiya! Shambu smart hai, intelligent hai, aur bahut khubsoorat bhi. Tum dono, ekdum raj aur simran ki tarah ek doosre ke liye bane ho mayank, aur ye maine dhekha hai. Maine uski aankhon mein tumhaare liye bahut ankahee chahat dhekhi hai mayank!
Isliye aaj is chitti ke through main tumse ek last wish maangna chaahti hoon mayank. Please meri shambu ko hamesha khush rakhna! Uske aankhon mein kabhi aansoon mat aane dena.
Main tumhaari sada aabhari rahoongi mayank
Tumhaari(humesha humesha ke liye)
Nupur

As he sat there by the stone, a warm hand touched his shoulder bringing him back to the present. He turned around to see his wife, shambavi standing there.
Her eyes pale and sulken like his.
He had married shambavi for nupur. For fulfilling that last wish, for giving her that happiness he could never give her when he was alive.
But shambavi, he could never accept shambavi as a wife, he could never lead that love filled happy life that he had once dreamed of spending with his nupur.
But he had given her something she had never had her entire life, a friend, a comforting shoulder to cry on, and a memory to comfort herself, that there was still someone who cared.
