Part 15
Making decisions
Sumaina Maharaj's room
Sia: Pitaji aap Bhoomi ko aise kese aagya desakte hai?
S.M: ab aise nimantar aaya hai ose ham mana kese karsakte hai
Sia: aap ko zara bhi andesha nahi ke is faisle se kitna nuksaan hone waala hai. Hum sab ko or sab se ziada to osee ko.
S.M: Sia, hum maante hai ke tumhe kitnee chinta hai lekin jab tak Bhoomi ko baahaar sab ke saamne aise ghoom ne ko nahi milega wo tab tak chain or sukoon se nahi bethegee
Sia: or aap bhi nahi samjh rahe hai pitaji (almost in tears) ke kese Bhoomi kee aisee nadaan or behuda harkato kee wajese kitnee badnaami hogi ham sab ke liye. Pehle to bohat ho chukee hai or ab aage bhi kitna hoga aapko andesha bhi nahi hoga
S.M: (surprised by her) hogayee hai pehlese ka matlab kya hai Sia? Kya osne tumhaare kuch dosto ko bhagaa to nahi diya? Ya phir yeh kahe ke kuch khaas dost? (she turns away irately upset with him) are Sia hum to aise hee keh rahe the, per tum aise jo kehrahee ho hume nahi lagta ke itnee bari baat hai
Sia: Pitaji (tears welled up) aap hamaree baato ka ghalat matlab nikaal rahe hai. Aisa kuch bhi nahi. Ham bus yeh kehrahe hai ke is parivaar ki izzat or aabru sab Bhoomi ke bachpana or utpataang harkatose dhoob jaaehgee. (she paused and looked at her father who didn't have much expressions on his face) hame maaf kijye pitaji ke ham aapse yeh kehrahe hai lekin agar aap ne abhi se Bhoomi pe lagaam nahi lagai to phir bohat bura hoga. Pure desh or raaj gharaane me oska wajood ek awara or bachalan rajkumari ka banjaaehga jiskee wajese oska pura pariwaar os saaza ko jhelega (the maharaj leaned back and took in what she said but Sia had more to say) aap jaante hai na ke Bhoomi or Sawri hamesha ek dusre ke jese hee harkate karte hai. To phir aisa hoga ke jaha bhi dono jaaenge log onhe geeree huwee nazro se dekhenge or onke wajese onkee dusri behne bhi aise hee dekhee jaaehgee or'.
The maharaj sees how distressed Sia has become so he gets up and comforts her by holding her hand and making her sit down next to him on the sofa.
S.M: Sia beta apne aap ko itna ranjeeda mat banao. Hame pata hai ke jaha bhi tum or Ananya jaaoge waha tumhe sab samaan or izzat se hee dekhenge. (she doesn't face him and makes a disagreeable face) is baat se tum dono kee zindagi ko koi farak nahi parega ke bad kismatee se tumhaaree teen teen bewacoof or nadaan behne hai. (she still isn't pleased with him) dekho Sia, Sumaina me tab tak shaanti nahi banee rahe gee jab tak ke Bhoomi is yatra pe nahi jaatee. Or phir Chitorepur ke maharaj or Rajkumari Priya pe hame bharosa hai ke wo Bhoomi ka bohat accha khayaal rakhenge.(he gets up and paces the room) or phir hamaree hasyat bhi itnee nahi ke koi Bhoomi ko apne chungal me phasade. (she is still displeased and wants to object) ab is baat ko yehi rehne do Sia'hame yakeen hai ke anth me sab bhala hee hoga.
She has no choice but to agree with him as he didn't leave any choice. Now she had to take his word on it and hope for the best.
Aryanagar
Minister: hum aap se phirse kehrahe hai maharaj ke aise yu akele onke ilaake me jaane kee yojna mat kijye. Yeh uchit nahi hoga
Dharam: ham jaante hai mantri jee lekin hame yehi karna hoga warna onhe sab kuch pata chaljaaehga or phir wo Veer ko wahase hataadenge. Hame kisee bhi keemat pe Veer ko wahase churaana hai
Minister: ham maante hai maharaj lekin hamaree baat maanjaaye or aise akele mat jaaye. Aap jaana chahte hee hai to kamas kam ek saina kee tukri saath lejaaye.
Dharam: (thought over it) theek hai lekin sab ke sab bhes badal ke aaenge taake on daakoa ko onkee banakh bhi na ho.
Everyone agreed and Dharam prepared to leave for Chathrapur with his guards who all were disguised as daakoos.
Chatrapur
Veer is sitting in his cell still thinking about what had happened earlier with Rajkumari Ananya but by now he had figured it out that it was only part of his imagination. She really wasn't here. But why did she keep doing that to him? On one side she sent him the rejection letter of how she never had such feelings in her heart for him and on the other side his thoughts kept decieving him that she still loved him. Why couldn't he remove her out of his thoughts? Was it because he knew that no matter what happens he'll always love her? Whatver it was he knew that he would be spending rest of his life with that agony.
Daakoo: Chalo utho, sardaar ne tumhe bulaaya hai
Veer was still involved in his thoughts to react so he didn't move. The daakoo came inside and grabbed hold of Veer aggressively and then dragged him out with him to the compound where the sardaar was sat on his throne. The daakoo threw Veer onto the sandy ground and all of them laughed at Veer's pitiful state. That brought Veer back to his senses and he realised what was going on. He slowly got up and looked up at the sardaar.
Sardaar: to yehi hai wo bahadur yodha Rajkumar Veer (cackling) jisne mujhse takkar lene kee jurrat kee?
Veer: tujh jese rakshas ka anth mere haath hee likha hai
Everyone laughs at his comment
Sardaar: yeh to waqt hee bataaehga ke koun kiska anth karta hai. Wese teree himmat kee daat denee chaaheeye ke mere hee ilaake me aake mujhe dhamkee deraha hai.
Veer: yu kaayaro kee tarha bil me chupa kya rehta hai. Agar tujhme himmat hai to aake mujhse lar, phir pata chalega ke kisme kitna dum hai
Sardaar: (cocks his eyebrow) acha? Chalo tujhe yeh ek moka bhi de dete hai. Lekin osse pehle tujhe mere aadmiyo se muqabla karna hoga
Veer: tere dus aadmiyo ke barabar yeh akela Veer hai. Jitne aadmi lagaane hai lagaale (he lets out a roar)
All the daakoos begin attacking Veer one by one and Veer fights with them all courageosuly outwitting them all. The sardaar is worried as to what will happen now but just then one the daakoos manage to attack Veer from behind which makes him loose balance and he falls to the ground. Then all begin laughing at his state again.
Sardaar: bus itna hee hai dum? (laughs) itnee hee hai bahadur yodha Rajkumar Veer kee taakat? Agar aise hee dusre nikle to phir hame koi waqt hee nahi lagega, aise hee hamara kaam pura hojaaehga
All of them join in the evl laugh making Veer even more angry.
Veer: (lying on the ground and struggling) jab tak yeh Veer zinda hai, tum apne kaam me kabhi bhi kamyaab nahi honge
Sardaar: acha? Tu roke ga mujhe? Ha ha ha ha, pehle seedhese do kadam chal ke to dikha tab dekhenge
Veer tried to get up but he couldn't and became even more of ridicule for everyone else.
Sardaar: ab mujhe wo ilaake pe kabza karne se koi nahi rokesakta. Koi nahi!
Then someone from the dark spoke out loud
The voice: tumhaara yeh khwaab kabhi pura nahi hoga!
All of them became stunned with that voice and began searching for where it came from. Then a shadow emerged out from the dark and then the figure was clearly seen. They were displeased to see that one of their own kind was challenging them and the sardaar was also furious.
Sardaar: koun ho tum? Or tumhaaree itnee jurrat ke tum mujhe aise lalkaaro
The voice: tujh jese chue ko lalkaar na koi bari baat nahi. (he walked up in the centre and lowered his hand to pick Veer up. Veer looked up and was alarmed to see who it was) tere liye to bus ek vaar hee kaafi hai
The sardaar is outraged and he summons his men to attack both Veer and the intruder but all his men have been held back by another group of men. Then the intruder reveals that he is infact Dharam and challenges the sardaar to fight him on one and one.
The sardaar accepts the challenge and jumps in the centre where both the brothers fight wih him and eventually over come the sardaar and put their swords on his neck. Dharam gets angry at him for perfroming such an act and that too with his brother and is about to kill him when the sardaar throws sand in both of their eyes which makes them blind for a few seconds. They are enough for the sardaar to run away and by the time Veer and Dharam get their eyesight back he has escaped and so have the other daakoos too after fighting with the Aryanagar guards.
Dharam: Veer, tum theek to ho na? (holds him and examines his wounds)
Veer: (smiles at his brother's concern) tumhaara bhai itna kamzore nahi Dharam ke chun daakoa ke vaar se admaara ban jaaye
Both the brothers hug with joy as it had been months since they had met and then leave that den and return back to the village.
Chitorepur
Sia, The Maharaj, Maharani Nivriti and Bhoomi have travelled to drop Bhoomi off and to meet with the maharaj and Rajkumari Priya before they leave on the yatra. Sia is surprised to find Agni there with his bunch of friends and was told that this was one common point where all the yatris met before setting off on the journey.
Nivi: Ham aapke abhaaree hai Maharaj ke aapne hamaree Bhoomi ko is laayaak samjha ke ose apne saath le jaarahe hai. Sach me wo bohat hee khush naseeb hai
Maharaj: khush naseeb to ham hai kyu ke hamaree betee Priya to her waqt Rajkumari Bhoomi kee hee baate kartee rehtee hai. To ab wo khush to ham bhi khush.
Nivi: sahi kaha aapne.
Meanwhile Bhoomi and Priya are busy talking to each other and laughing out loud at practically anything. Sia is observing and is just hoping that all goes well. Just then she is graced with an unwanted presence.
Agni: itne mahino ke baad aapse mulaqaat huwee, behat khushi huwee mujhe. Aap is yatra pe nahi aarahee mujhe behat afsos hai kyu ke aapkee kami kaafi mehsoos hogi
Sia: (fake smile) ha per kya kare is kami ko ham dono ko jhelna hoga. Tum hoge os mele me or hum dhoore Sumaina me honge. Koi bhi tarha kee mulaqaat phirse nahi hogi.
Agni: sach me (is unaffected by her cold behaviour) to maine suna tha ke aap Avdhi gayi thi? Kesa laga aapko Maharaj Dayavardhan ka mahal?
Sia: bohat hee acchi or khoobsurat jaga hai. Maharaj Dharam bhi waha aaye the or phir hamaree mulaqaat Rajkumari Anjali se huwee. (looked to see his reaction) kya tum onhe jaante ho?
Agni: ah me onka sirf naam jaanta hu or sirf onke baare me suna hai. Aap to jaantee hai ke kesa raha hai mere saath to phir'(sighs) jitna me jaanta hu osse yeh pata hai ke wo bohat hee jald logo se dostee karletee hai. Kya aap ko pasand aayee?
Sia: Bilkul, hame wo bohat hee pasand aayee
Agni: onka sobhaov or charitra onke bhai se bilkul alag hai
Sia: ha (bites her bottom lip and wonders whether to rebuke back on that) per ab hame yeh lagne laga hai ke Maharaj Dharam ka logo se milne ke dhung me thora thora badlao aaraha hai
Agni: (surprised) acha? Kis hisaab se yeh kehrahee hai aap? (sarcastic smirk) Kya onke baat karne ke andaaz me insaano jesee ada aagayee hai? Warna hame nahi lagta ke baaki koi bhi cheez me kuch bhi badla hai. Wo abhi bhi wese hee hai
Sia: sahi kaha tumne, wo abhi tak wese hee hai (lower tone) jese hamesha the.
Agni doesn't say anything and just keeps staring at Sia as he could sense something was different about her now.
Sia: ham yeh nahi kehrahe hai ke Maharaj Dharam me jo badloa aaya hai wo acha hai lekin ham yeh zaroor kehsakte hai ke ab jab hamne onhe or kareebse or theek tarhase jaana osse ab hamaree onke baare me rai bhi badal gayee hai
Agni: (certainly displeased) to yeh baat hai'(his friends call him from behind) ab mujhe aagya dijye Rajkumari Sia.
He walks off and Sia lets out a sigh of relief
Sia: ha jao jao Agni. Ab ham kabhi nahi chaahenge ke tum waapis aao.
Then all the yatris are ready and are boarding their carriages, horses and palaquins to start on their journey. Bhoomi is also going towards her palaquin waving back to her family especially Nivriti. Nivriti was very emotional and kept telling Bhoomi to take care of herself and to enjoy to the most. Bhoomi is so excited that as she is entering the palaquin she slips and nearly falls. Then she laughs about it and makes a scene. Sia has just had too much. Then Bhoomi did her final farewells and she was off. Nivriti kept staring at them all leave until they had all disappeared in the far distance.
Chathrapur
Dharam: itna saara kaam tumne akele kiya hai Veer? (looks at the construction of the temple and is really impressed)
Veer: maine kuch bhi nahi kiya Dharam. Jo kuch bhi kiya hai wo sab in gao waalo ne hee kiya hai. Inkee hee mehnat or lagao kee wajese yeh sab huwa hai
Dharam: (looked how Veer's eyes were really sad) kya huwa Veer? Tum itne udhaas kyu ho?
Veer: (doesn't look at him as his eyes have welled up) kuch'kuch bhi to nahi huwa. (sniffs and wipes away his tears) bohat thak chuka hu isliye. Ab yahase jald se jald jaana chahta hu
Dharam: ham bhi wahi chahte hai Veer ke tum jald se jald yeh kaam khatam karke waapis hamare saath Aryanagar chalo
Veer: ha Dharam.
Dharam: (stands up) to phir theek hai ham tab tak tumhaare saath hee rahenge
Veer: (turns around) nahi Dharam, aisa tum nahi karsakte. Aise tum Aryanagar chore ke aa nahi sakte. Ose oske maharaj kee sakth zaroorat hai, or khaas karke is waqt.
Dharam: Is waqt? (perplexed) kya matlab hai tumhaara Veer, kya koi aisee baat hai jo tum jaante ho or ham nahi?
Veer: (puts hand on Dharam's shoulder) tum waapis jaao ge to khud ba khud pata chal jaaehga. Me yaha theek hu Dharam. Tum jao or bohat jald me bhi waapis aajaaonga.
Dharam agrees with Veer and takes a promise from him that he'll take care of himself. Dharam decides to tell Veer about Ananya and the misunderstanding between them but then decides that first he'll handle the situation himself and then reveal the truth. So he leaves for Aryanagar and Veer is left with nothing but remorseful memories of Ananya.
Aryanagar
It has been two days since Dharam has returned and he hasn't rested until he has found out what Veer was trying to implicate. He did a thorough search throughout all the political reports and made several surveys of the current situation in Aryanagar. They all seemed fine to him so he decided that he needed to go out and see for himself as to what was going on in his kingdom. But he couldn't go out as the maharaj so he disguised himself as common villager who is passing by and went off without informing anybody in the mahal, not even his minister.
In the village he browsed around and was shocked to see the people's conditions. Many were suffering from poor housing and less food. Many were suffering due to illness and some were just too poor to provide their families with decent food to eat. There was one common thing going on amongst them which was that the taxes they had to pay were too high and with the wage they had it was just not enough at the end of the day. Dharam kept his eyes and ears open to everything that was going on and he noticed one of the guards beating up a rather old man just because he had been unable to pay his taxes in time. This was horrible. Something which he had never been awared of as he had never gone out to see what was really happening. He had always only known what he had been shown by his ministers. As he passed through he kept thinking of how for so many years he had been kept in the dark about the reality of the kingdom. How everyone had manipulated all the information for such a long period. Then on the otherside he remembered Sia's words,
"Ek raja apni praja se hee banta hai. Jo insaan dusro kee izzat nahi karta oskee izzat koun karega."
He decided that it was time he changed things around. And he retired back to the mahal making plans for the betterment of his kingdom.
The next day he called the assembly addressing all his ministers.
Dharam: Aaj hame khud pata chala hai ke Aryanagar kee kya haalat banee huwee hai. Itne saalo se hamse yeh sacchai chupai jaarahee hai or wo bhi hamare apne logo se'aaj hamne faisla kiya hai ke pure Aryanagar me sab jo hamare raj ko apni mehnat kee kamai se ek hissa sarkaar ko detee hai ose ham aaj kam karte hai or dusre taraf ham onkee kamai ko ziada barhaate hai
Minister: (displeased and shocked by his decision) Maharaj yeh kya karahe hai aap? Is tarha to sab kuch barbaad hojaaehga or aap ka yeh raj bilkul kamzore parjaaehga
Dharam: (gets up from the throne) hamne yeh faisla bohat soch samjh ke liye hai mantriji. Kya sochte hai aap ke hame hamare rajye kee koi parwa nahi? Yeh mat bhool ye ke Aryanagar ke utal adhikaari ham hee hai or bach pan se lekar aaj tak hame sirf or sirf Aryanagar or oskee parampara ko jaaree rakhne kee chinta rehtee hai. Lekin aaj hamne yeh jaana hai ke sirf yehi sab kuch ek insaan ko acha raja nahi banata. Ek raja apni praja se hee banta hai or wahi ham karahe hai. Agar Aryanagar me koi khush nahi hai to phir hamara farz banta hai ke ham hamaree praja ka khayaal rakhe. Ab yaha ke kanoon or parampara me badloa laane ka waqt aagaya hai. (goes and sits back down on his throne) ab hamne yeh nirne le liya hai
Minister: Lekin Maharaj'
Dharam: (raises his hand to shun him) bus! Ab hamare aadesh ka palan ho
No one argues any further and bow down to their king's orders. From that day all the taxes were reduced and people's wages were increased. All of them were pleased and began blessing the maharaj for bringing such revolution. For the first time in his life Dharam felt so elated that he felt good from the inside. He did a good deed and he felt really proud of himself with true heart.
When Veer got the message he was also really surprised at his brother's actions and he couldn't believe that he actually changed everything. He was impressed and felt as if his brother was finally changing for the better. The temple was near completion now and he couldn't wait to return back to Aryanagar and congratulate Dharam himself on his new victory amongst the common man.
Two weeks later
Sumaina
A message has come from Bhavanipur
Ananya: Pitaji kya likha hai? Sab kuch theek to hai na?
S.M: nahi Ananya, phirse tumhaaree chachi Pari kee tabiyat bohat kharaab hai or phir Bhim ne kaha hai ke pura Bhavanipur ka mahal ose tayaar karna hai kyu ke Maharaj Dharam waha kuch dino me pohoch ne waale hai or onke saath bohat saare yaatri bhi honge.
Ananya: is haalat me kese karpaaenge wo? (thinks over) Pitaji hame lagta hai ke hame waapis waha chalejaana chaheeye
S.M: nahi Ananya is waqt tumhaaree tabiyat bhi to theek nahi
Ananya: Lekin pitaji, Bhim chacha ko bhi zaroorat hai to phir'koi to yaha se jaa sakta hai na onkee maddat karne
S.M: Ha to Sia ko bhej dete hai. Ham jaante hai ke wo is kaam ko puree tarha anjaam degi or wese bhi kahi din hogaye hai ose mahal ke baahar jaate huwe. Istarha oska mann bhi behel jaaehga
Ananya: Theek hai pitaji ham ose abhi kehte hai
Sia's room
Sia: yeh kese hosakta hai Ananya? Ham waha nahi jaasakte
Ananya: Kyu, aakhir kya baat hai Sia?
Sia: Tum jaantee ho ke kya baat hai or phir bhi hamse pooch rahee ho. Tum jaantee ho na ke ham Maharaj Dharam se nahi milsakte or phir'
Ananya: (turns Sia towards her) dekho Sia, ham jaante hai ke yeh sab mushkil hoga lekin tum waha Maharaj Dharam se nahi milne jaarahee ho, balke tum waha Pari chachi ke liye jaarahee ho. Agar is tarha Bhim chacha ka sandesh nahi aaya hota to ham tumhe aise kabhi nahi kehte. Or phir tumhe waha Maharaj Dharam ka intezaar thori karna hai. Jese hee kaam khatam hojaaeye tum waapis laut aana. Seedhee see baat hai
Sia thought over it and finally agreed.
Now she set off for Bhavanipur not knowing what instore was for her.
