Chapter 1
First Sight
Who ever created formal parties should be killed. Kripa hated formal parties more then any thing in the world. In fact she hated it so much she could probably write a one thousand page books about it. As Kripa looked out of the stretched limo outside, it was raining like hell. Her father who was sitting beside her was talking on his cell phone covering up some last minute details.
God, how Kripa hated being rich, sometimes she felt as if prisoners had more freedom then she did. Everywhere she went flashes of cameras would be all around her. Every time she made a mistake the world would know of it. Kripa remembered when she tried running away from home and how it was a big flop. The guard's caught her before she even got out of her room. She remembered her first date when she was fourteen and how it was ruined with the pres surrounding her by seconds. The truth was she felt lonely and the sad part was she was never alone.
The gliding limo soon came to a stop in front of a traffic jam maybe it would be so bad that her dad would not make her go to the stupid formal party where every one around her put on a fake smile and pretended to like each other. All the people in those parties were always boring all they talked about was the weather and gossip. What a living hell.
Soon the heavy rain turned to a yelling hailstorm.
"Sir" The driver said from the front of the limo "The weather is to harsh, it will be nearly impossible to reach the party alive" Kripa was happy when she heard the driver say this to her father.
"Ok can you turn the car around towards home?" Troy, Kripa's dad said. Turning off his phone, just realizing the stormy weather.
"I do not think the limo can make it, there is a mall close by, we can park the limo there and take cover inside until the storm passes by." The driver replied in a nervous tone afraid that the storm would blow the top off the limo.
Kripa closed her eyes begging that her dad would agree to going to the mall and to her luck that is exactly what happened. "Ok take us to the mall" Troy said in a serious commanding tone, as if he was captain of a war ship.
Kripa tried to hide her smile. She was so happy! This was going to be the first time in her life she was going to be in a public mall! Kripa had never been in a public mall mostly because if she stepped inside one people would surround her by the dozens. Ever since she was little every one told her she is pretty, she is the best, she is the world, but the truth was she is none of those things. The only reason other people told her, she is the best was because they wanted a taste of her rich fame.
Kripa realized no one liked her. They just liked her money. Yes, she will admit she like the money and fame she was born with but she wanted an identity of her own. She wanted a name of her own. She wanted some one to like her for her.
The gliding limo stopped in front of the mall entrance, Troy and Kripa ran inside trying hard not to be hit by the little pebble hailstorm. Kripa used her coach bag to cover her head from the rain and hail. She did not worry much about having the bag being damaged after all she had a billion of them lying round in her home.
Inside the mall there were only a few people inside, most of the people were looking out side the doors waiting for the rain and hail to end. A lot of the people in the mall did not know what to do mostly because rain and hail was very uncommon in California.
The second Kripa entered the mall all eyes went on her. Every man and woman was shocked to see a trust fund like Kripa at a public mall. Kripa was not just an eighteen-year-old trust fund but also a model for Vogue magazines, Cover girl, Revlon, and many other companies. Kripa was used to having strange people look at her, mostly because this was going on in her life for the past eighteen years of her pathetic life.
Kripa look a seat in a sitting area of the mall that was made of a glass dome. When Kripa looked up she saw rain and hail hitting the dome hard and it frightened her to think that maybe the glass dome would fall on top of her. Her father sat beside her. He looked into his cell phone hoping to catch service but he knew that with the weather so bad no phone could catch signal even if the cell phone is the best money can buy.
Kripa really wished her father would not sit beside her. She just found it odd to have her father sit beside her at a mall where teenagers at the age of thirteen walked around by themselves while she, who was eighteen was not even allowed out of the house with out an escort by her side.
"Dad, I am going to the washroom. Wait right here I will be right back" Kripa said leaving the dome glass sitting room toward the washroom. Kripa usually would run away if she had a chance like this but she had no chance of running away today because the washroom was in her dad sight. If she tried to go any where but the washroom her father would surly see her.
Inside the washroom a few girls were also in there and upon seeing Kripa they started freaking out.
"Oh my god, you are Kripa Sharma" a few girls said excitingly almost screaming. "Can we have your autograph?" a few girls said in excitement and Kripa got a wonderful idea on her hands.
"Sure" Kripa said with a fake smile "but I need a favor from you girls" Kripa said with a grin approaching her lips. A few girls looked like they would die for Kripa at the moment.
"Yes, we will do any thing for you Kripa Sharma. We are your biggest fans!" One girl replied for the rest of the girls.
"Thank you" Kripa said at then lead the girls toward the washroom door and opened it a little. Kripa pointed towards her dad. "You girls see that man in the black suit" Kripa said waiting for the girls to reply so they do not get her father mixed up with another person.
"You mean the old guy" One of the girls said. Kripa laughed inside of herself to hear some one call her dad an old guy.
"Yes the old guy" Kripa said trying hard not to laugh at the words. "I need you girls to distract him while I make a run for it." When Kripa said this some of the girls were confused as to why someone as famous as Kripa would have to run away from some old guy. None of the girls questioned Kripa's help mostly because they thought that you should not question famous rich people.
A few of the girls went to Starbucks grabbed hot coffee and pretended to drop it on Troy's clothes. Troy jumped up in surprise, the hot coffee caused him to yell from the burn and then he started to yell at the girls for spilling coffee on his expansive suite. As soon as Troy's gaze left the washroom door, Kripa made a run for the other side of the mall giving the girls a thank you thumbs up sign.
Kripa was having a hard time running in her high heals so she got to the stairs and took them off. Kripa ran up the stairs like her life depended on it, she would look back her shoulders once in a while to make sure her father was not following her but she knew by now he must have found out she was making a run for it.
As soon as Kripa reached the top of the stairs she ripped off the bottom of her black, long dress so now it seemed as if the dress was a normal outing dress that came up to her knees. Kripa now started running towards the other side of the mall on the second floor. She noticed a few people looking at her as she ran past them. She could tell what they were probably thinking is that the girl from the billboard Cover girl or something around that line of thought. Kripa turned her head back again to make sure her father was not behind her, as soon as Kripa looked back she slammed into something very hard in front of her and fell to the ground. As Kripa looked in font of her expected to have hit the wall or a rock she saw she had hit a man.
The man had a motorcycle helmet in one hand and in the other hand he had coffee, which he dropped on the floor after she hit him. The man bent down and gave out a hand to help the girl which he was surprised to she was Kripa Sharma, famous trust fund rich chick.
Kripa took the hand that was offered to her and stood up with the man's help. Kripa's leg was in pain from the fall.
"I am so sorry, I did not see you, I am Kripa, Kripa Sharma" The man just folded his arms across his strong chest looking at her in amusement. Kripa noticed the man had a different type of eye color between blue and brown. He was wearing a black leather jacket with a royal blue T-shirt with light blue faded jeans. He was one hell of a built man and Kripa knew this from when she knocked into him thinking he was a wall.
"I am Angad, Angad Khanna. So who is going to pay for my spilled coffee?" Angad said with amusement and seriousness in his tone. This was the first time Kripa had some one angry with her. In a stupid kind of way Kripa felt good about it, she felt like she was a normal person!
"How much will that be?" Kripa asked rubbing the back of her head in awkwardness. She really did not know how much coffee would cost because she only carried around credit cards and a few twenties with her.
Angad knew these trust fund kids never knew any thing about the real world and thought he could rip her off. He was kind of low on cash as it was. The coffee was originally five bucks but instead said "twenty-five bucks" Angad said holding out a hand for the money.
Kripa noticed that Angad was wearing motorcycle gloves with the tips of the fingers cut off. Kripa opened her bag to pay him but saw she only had twenties so she took out forty dollars. " I don't have any fives," Kripa said innocently. Really unsure that coffee would cost so cheep. Usually when she had coffee it would cost like hundred and twenty to two hundred dollars but then again those coffees were designer and made by professionals.
"It is ok, I will take forty dollars, the extra fifteen dollars can be from the pain you caused me from knocking into me." Angad said sarcastically and took the forty dollars out of Kripa's hand and then turned to leave.
As Angad was walking away Kripa thought he was so cool. He talked to her like a normal person showing her that she was not the best and hottest girl in the world. Kripa did not want Angad to leave and was not about to let a guy like that leave so quickly.
"Mr. Khanna!" Kripa called out to stop him from leaving.
Angad turned around and walked right back up to Kripa. "How may I help a rich ass princess like you, now?" Angad said sarcastically well aware that girls like miss. Sharma were nothing more then rich spoiled brats.
Kripa decided to ignore the last comment that Angad had given her and did the stupidest thing any normal girl could do, but then again Kripa was never normal. "Mr. Khanna I need your help in running away." Angad did not like the thought of this one bit. Rich girls like Kripa did not just run away from nothing.
"How about I don't help you run away" Angad said and turned to walk away from Kripa. She was not willing to give up so easily. Kripa had to get Angad to agree some way, her father will find her any second and she needed a place to stay.
"I will pay you" Kripa said. As soon as Kripa said this Angad stopped in his tracks. Angad was desperate for money, he had already shoplifted a few times as it was, and was almost caught a few times with it. "How much?" Angad asked
"Seven hundred in cash, that is all I have" Kripa said. Angad could tell from Kripa's voice that she was going to ask something more from him then just help from running away.
"What else do you want?" Angad said with suspicion "I need a place to stay…"Kripa said slowly unsure if Angad would agree or not "You got your self a deal." Angad had no problem with keeping a girl in his apartment as long as she did not go though his things.
"…And I want you to show me how to ride a motorcycle." When Kripa said this Angad knew for a face that his girl had gone mad. Angad always knew that too much money could make any person go crazy and right now, Kripa was talking crazy. There was no way he would ever teach her how to ride on his is black Suzuki motor-sports bike S15.
"No, no, and no! There is no way I will ever let you ride my Suzuki" Angad said strictly "I will help you run away, I will give you a place to stay but there is no way I will teach you to ride" As soon as Kripa said this she hear her fathers voice from far away
"Kripa!" Kripa turned her head to see her father running towards her.
"You know what, we can work on the last part of the deal later, how about we make a run for it, RIGHT NOW!" Kripa said in a hurry. Angad grabbed Kripa's wrist and puller her with him and both took off running. Angad pulled Kripa to a corner pulling her into Dillard. Kripa saw a few of her pictures on some of the Dillard posters as she and Angad ran through the shopping center.
"Gosh princess, you are very loved in this store" Angad said noticing all the pictures of Kripa on the posters. He continued running with his hands tightly griped on Kripa's wrist.
"You think" Kripa said sarcastically.
"Hide in here" Angad said pulling Kripa in to a dressing room with him. The dressing room was quite small and Angad took up most of the space with his large body. Angad pushed Kripa to the wall of the dressing room with both his arms on both of the walls locking her to the wall. Angad gave Kripa a sign with his face, not to say anything.
Kripa did not make a sound; she could hear her fathers footsteps pass by. Angad opened the dressing room door after hearing the footsteps leave. Angad took Kripa's soft hands in his strong hands and both made a run for it again.
As Angad and Kripa were running they passed another domed glassed sitting area. Kripa looked up to see the weather had cleared up. Kripa knew her father to well. Her father mostly already called the cops and maybe along with it her bodyguards.
"Angad, my dad probably called the cops by now. We have to leave the mall," Kripa said while running almost out off breath. Kripa could tell Angad was also out of breath from running because he was breathing heavily while running.
"Come follow me" Angad said as he let go of Kripa's hand and now started to run towards the doors of the mall and Kripa did the same. Angad pushed open the heavy doors of the mall and let Kripa passed through first and then continued running.
If he were not so desperate for money at the moment he would have never agreed to baby-sit a rich trust fund kid. He knew from the moment they started running that he probably made the stupidest mistake as to agree to give a rich trust fund a place to live in a shacked up apartment. Angad just knew, when he showed Kripa Sharma his apartment, she would probably go running back to her rich daddy. Angad knew trust fund kids like Kripa really well and he knew that Kripa would not last one day as a low class citizen of the United States of America with out crying for her rich daddy. All Angad cared about was to get his seven hundred dollars and getting out of Kripa Sharma's life as soon as possible.
When Kripa saw Angad's motorcycle outside of the mall she knew for a fact she was in haven. Angad Khanna rode a black Suzuki motor-sports bike S15. Kripa had wanted that very same motorcycle for her sixteenth birthday but never got it because her father thought it was to dangerous for a rich girl like herself to ride such a fast motorcycle.
"You ride an S15" Angad was shocked when Kripa said this. Angad expected Kripa to be the last person to know any thing about motorcycles.
"Yes, how did you know this was an S15?" Angad asked still unable to believe that Kripa knew something about motorcycles.
"I wanted an S15 for my sixteenth birthday but daddy said it wasn't suitable for a girl like me" When Kripa said this she saw Angad looking at her a bit differently from before. It was almost like he was looking at her in shock and surprised.
"Come on hurry, we better get out of here before the cops show up" Angad said getting on to the bike, putting on his helmet. Angad handed Kripa his spare helmet and as soon as Kripa put the helmet on, they drove off in full speed.
