Chapter twelve
Life makes its own plans as we are busy making our own plans.
Rajveer and Naina had it all smoothly, no problems and an awfully understanding relationship, but they did forget one thing that when you live together there have to be sacrifices, and that's where they faltered.
"Raj……."
Naina screamed on top of her voice
"why are your socks lying here?"
Raj gave her a questioning look and answered
"Naina c'mon yaar I was tired, I didn't have the time to put it in its right place"
"Raj even I am tired, I worked the whole day and I cant tolerate coming back to a messy house"
Raj didn't retort back to that, but was on the verge of telling her to go and stay where she liked to but just kept quiet
He ran into his workroom and slammed the door
Naina on the other hand just went into the balcony and started weeping, this was not what she had planned, she had dreamt of a house which would be like a palace and where raj would be with her and would be understanding, she loved him and she knew that he loved her too then why was that not enough for them??? Why was the love falling short for them to maintain a healthy and peaceful relationship, Naina felt many a times to just walk out straight of the house, but she knew that she would be heading to nothingness, to lonleness coz she knew that Raj was the only one for her and the one made for her
Raj on the other hand was shocked at what had happened, something beyond expectations, they were so understanding to eachother before they had started living under one roof, what had happened suddenly??? Whenever he tried telling her that she had changed she would scream back at him and tell him that he had changed and he should try to get back to his old self, but Raj knew that he hadn't changed and if naina had claimed that she hadn't changed too then what had changed…
Naina on the other had was so excited when she had moved in with him, finally company after so many years, she had been that happy for 2 months after that but soon the differences between them started coming out. What had gone wrong?? She wished she could have just dialed her mother and poured out her heart to her but that was besides the point, she didn't even know if her mom was alive or not, at such time she missed having an elder at home and in her life, she wished if Raj had his parents, they would hav helped her at least
At times Raj and Naina would feel sorry for themselves would make up, sleep together and come back to square one in no time….
Being successful individuals in their own respective fields they had failed to understand a very important rule of relationships…
The one thing that had changed in their life was the relationship they shared
It had taken the next step, when they were not prepared for it, they had failed to understand that when you start living with someone you have to accommodate the other persons thoughts, their desires and their way of life…
Without a mutual effort from both sides it is very difficult to save a relationship
And Raj and Naina knew that their relationship was going to the dogs and there was nothing they could do, when one tried to be nice the other one would turn hostile, this was often the problem of big cities, where people adopted modern lifestyles and where ego and pride messed up everything.
Naina would think that she was such a big designer why did she hav to tolerate Raj's nonsense but she failed to realize that if a person truly loves u, u have to adjust with the person, if you are rich and successful you can get any tom dick harry to love u and who will dance according to your wishes but that will not be true love….
Naina and Rajveer both broke out from their thoughts when they heard the doorbell ring
Naina passed Raj a dirty look when she saw him coming out of his study but raj just avoided, naina opened the door and sonali came in
She greeted the two of them and looking at their sunken faces realized what musthv happened……
"Guys, sit down, another pep talk is what you need"
Obeying her the two of them sat down, not really wanting to but they didn't want to offend Sonali, who had always been kind.
"What is wrong with the two of you???? Having fights every other night, is this really what u guys want??"
"No"
That's what the two of them said together not meeting eachothers eye
"I have told u both a thousand times, you'll have to understand eachother and have to be there for eachother"
Raj interrupted
"Sonali it wasn't me, its Naina she starts about my socks my plates my clothes, there is a limit to everything, I cant change myself completely for her, if I do that then ill not be Rajveer"
Naina gave him a deadly stare.
"Sonali is it wrong to keep your house clean?" Naina continued
"Naina now listen to me, if u are sucha cleanliness freak why don't you clean up Raj's things, that way you guys don't need to fight"
Naina just stared at her, she wondered why it was always Sonali who came out with these ideas and not her, why was she always so adamant on fighting with Raj,
"Now make up the two of you, and if you don't want to, it ur decision, I am a no one to say anything to u'll, Naina I have just come to give u this, mr. shah's advance"
She left it on the table and walked off leaving Raj and Naina in silence to think
Finally raj started
"Naina we need to work on our relationship, or its going to break very soon"
"Raj don't say that, I love you"
"Our love is not going to save this relationship Naina, we need to work on it, we need to compromise"
"Raj, I love you and I cant loose you"
"I love you too Naina, never forget or never doubt that"
He walked up to her and wiped away her tears and took her into his arms,
That night the two of them slept in peace, they had talked a lot to eachother, they had truly missed eachother these past few days,
The both of them wished that it wasn't one of those patch ups which didn't last coz they had patched up a lot in the past and then fought again with eachother after a few days, but this time they had truly sworn that they would give it a try.
3 weeks later
Raj had been out for a week already, he had some fashion show to organize in Chennai and was due to return in 2 days time, they had seriously given their relationship a try, and to heir delight things were working out, it had been tough initially tough for both of them, Naina would flinch at the look of his dirty socks but yet control herself and go and clean up the mess, Raj had also improved, he would help Naina in the cleaning, and things did seems good, but things were not going to stay that way for long,
Naina answered the doorbell and was glad that her blood reports had arrived, she signed the delivery form and took in her reports, when she was was about to open the reports the phone started ringing
"Hello"
"Hi Jaan"
"Raj, how come you called me so early today, its usually onli in the nights that you think of me"
"Naina, babes I want to tell u something"
"And what is that"
"I am coming tomorrow night itself"
"Wow… but how come?"
"Actually my boss was quite impressed with my work and so he has decided that I will not be involved in the workforce anymore, ill just be supervising"
"Lovely, but then u should have extra work naah"
"Yeah that's there, but he wants the new comers to set-in first without my guidance and so he has told me to leave tomorrow itself, before the main event"
"So ill wait for u tomorrow"
"Naina I may not be able to call you till I arrive ok, I should be home by 8.00pm, my light lands at about 7.15 pm"
"Its fine with me sweety, I love you"
"I love u too"
Naina hung up and had a content look on her face and suddenly she spotted the letter in her hand and so she opened it to check if all was well, but it was not
As soon as she scanned through the reports she got an electric shock, the reports in her hand said tht she was pregnant, it couldn't be, she knew it,
She dialed the path lab immediately and fixed up an appointment with the gynac for the next day morning, this couldn't be happening, when things were settling down she couldn't let this happen, how could she hav been so careless, especially where these things were concerned.
The next morning she was restless, she couldn't drive and hence had hired a cab, she was so anxious in the clinic that she could hardly wait, and when it was her chance she just ran in……
"Doctor, please tell me that I am not pregnant"
The doctor gave her a reassuring smile and told her,
"You look young, it happens, I can understand but you cant turn away from the truth my dear, now hand me over your reports"
"Doctor, we use protection everytime and of the best quality available, I know nothing is 100% but I have always been careful"
"Ms.Naina, you have answered your own question, nothing is 100%, good quality or bad quality and it is confirmed that u are pregnant, the report is very clear, but for your satisfaction if u want me to do a test on the spot ill do it"
Naina nodded without thinking twice
And the doc did the test on the spot and within 2 minutes Naina gt the answer she was dreading,
"You are pregnant my dear"
"Thanks doc"
Naina looked as if she was going to cry but she controlled herself and as she was about to exit the room the doc said something that changed the entire picture
"Ms.Naina im quite sure that ill be seeing you soon for an abortion, it's a very common thing out here in these cosmopolitan cities, I have girls who are 16 coming here to have abortions but you look smart, before killing your child think it out, have a nice day!!!"
Naina just nodded and moved out, hired a cab and went home.
What would she tell Raj when he came home, she dreaded that moment but she had to face it and she decided that she would do it today itself.
She arranged a candle light dinner for the 2 of them and waited patiently for him to come home.
When the bell rang she ran and opened the door for her,
As soon as he came in she embraced him, he went and freshened up went to have dinner with her, and Naina braced herself to tell him, not knowing what the outcome would be……
