Chapter 33

Previously

 

One of the spectators calls an ambulance, it comes and the ambulance assistants place Kripa into the ambulace, Angad also goes into the ambulance and holds Kripa's hand. Prithvi watches the ambulance trying to process what just happened

 

Machines beeped, doctors hovered here and there, cotton swabs covered in blood were being placed into a bowl, nurses handed the doctors various medical instruments and outside Angad paced in the waiting room, he had called the Sharma's and the Khanna's a while before and was waiting for them to arrive, he hears the door open and looks up and sees Prithvi, who has small plasters on his face and hands

 

P - is she ok?

A - ....I don't know, what are you doing here? haven't you done enough? and besides, all you care about is money, not Kripa, so if you wait until tomorrow, you'll have 10000 in your bank account, the price for you to disappear

P - I don't want your money Khanna

A - its money Prithvi, who cares who you get it from, better me than the Sharma's now get lost

P - Angad....

 

Prithvi sat by Angad and put his hand on his shoulder, Angad brushed it off

 

P - I.....I'm sorry

A - you're sorry? you're sorry!

 

Angad gets up and pulls Prithvi up and pushes him against the wall while holding his collar

 

A - you put Kripa in this state, you almost kill her and you say you're sorry! no..no Prithvi, you'll be sorry if anything happens to Kripa because I will not be blamed for my actions, understand

P - I never meant for anything to happen to Kripa.....

A - enough of your rubbish, listen up Prithvi, if anything happens to Kripa, I swear I will kill you, and don't think its a threat, mark my words, it is a promise

 

Angad hears the door open, he turns around to see Sujal, Kavya and Lakshya, Angad pushes Prithvi away from him and goes to his brothers

 

S - what happened?

A - I went to her house to take her away, but that....

 

Angad glares at Prithvi from the corner of his eyes

 

A - ....Prithvi..saw us leaving and decided to chase us, I thought I had lost him but I don't know how he came in front of us and the car crashed into his, Kripa had taken her seat belt off.....if I had told her not to then maybe she wouldn't....

 

Tears fall down Angad's eyes, Kavya puts his arm around him

 

Ka - don't worry Angad, she'll be fine

L - yeah bro, Kripa's strong, stronger than most guys, she'll be ok

 

Angad smiles faintly, Sujal stands up and goes to Prithvi

 

S - unless you want to be taken out of here on a stretcher I suggest you leave

P - but Kripa....

S - she has people here to worry for her, there's no need for you to be here, so leave

 

Prithvi gets up and walks to the door, he looks at Angad then leaves. A while later the door opens and Angad's parents and Kripa's parents come in

 

G - where's Kripa? Angad, where is she?

A - aunty....she's in the operation theater

D - Angad, what happened?

 

Angad tells them what happened

 

G - Prithvi....where is he?

A - he was here, but he left, aunty I assure you, Kripa will be ok

G - Angad if anything happens to my daughter, I will never forgive you

 

Gayatri sits down, Surya goes to her and comforts her while Angad hugs his mom

 

N - its ok Angad, she'll be ok

A - its all my fault mama, I should never have driven so fast

N - no Angad, don't think like that, you love her, I know you will never want her to get hurt

 

Naina comforts Angad, meanwhile inside the OT, the doctors place the oxygen mask on Kripa's face and bandage her head, the doctor exits the OT and goes to the waiting room

 

Doc - Mr Khanna?

 

Angad stands up and goes to the doctor

 

A - how is she?

Doc - we've managed to stop the bleeding, but she's lost a lot of blood, the ward boys are arranging for her blood group but if nothing matches we'll need a donor

A - test my blood, my brothers, anyone but she has to survive

Doc - don't worry Mr Khanna, have faith in God, we're doing the best we can

 

The doctor leaves and Angad sits back down until the nurse comes

 

Nu - excuse me

S - yes?

Nu - the doctor has requested for the blood tests to see who has the same blood group as the patient

A - test mine first

 

Angad follows the nurse outside and has his blood tested, then Sujal goes, then Kavya and then Lakshya. The nurse tests their blood and none of them match

 

A - but one of us should match

Nu - I'm sorry sir but we tested all of yours but none matched

P - test mine

 

Angad looks at the door and sees Prithvi, he follows the nurse inside and gets his blood tested which coincidently is a match. Prithvi is heading to the OT for the blood transfusion when Angad stops him

 

A - no, I will not let my Kripa have your blood

P - Angad....don't be stupid

A - no! There is no way I will let you give her blood

S - Angad....think rationally, Kripa needs blood and if Prithvi's matches then it matches, we can't do anything, if you don't let him give his blood Kripa could....

 

Angad looks at Sujal and shakes his head

 

A - no...nothing will happen to Kripa.....if it means this jerk has to give his blood....then fine

 

Angad moves out of the way and goes into the waiting room while Prithvi goes into the OT. He comes out later with a bandage on his arm, with the doctor following him

 

A - doc, is she ok?

Doc - the transfusion was successful, Kripa is stable now, she still needs to gain conciousness which should be during the night, so don't worry anymore Mr Khanna.

 

The doctor places a hand on Angad's shoulder and leaves, Angad sits down and sighs, he looks at Prithvi

 

A - if you think I'm going to thank you for what you did, you're mistaken, you owe Kripa since it was because of you she was in this state in the first place. Now that she's ok, get lost and don't come back

 

Prithvi opens his mouth to say something but thinks against it, he turns and leaves, the Khanna's go home but Angad stays, he sees Gayatri and Surya sitting in the waiting room and goes to Gayatri

 

A - aunty you should go home and rest

G - no I will stay with Kripa

A - I'm here aunty, there's no need to worry. I know you may hold me responsible for Kripa's condition but I assure you I never meant for Kripa to get hurt, if I could change the situation and swap places with Kripa, I would in a heartbeat.

 

Gayatri looks at him and puts her hand on his head

 

G - I trust you Angad but she is my daughter, let me stay

A - ok....uncle you should go at least

 

Surya looks at Angad and walks off, Angad frowns and goes to the doctor

 

A - how many people are allowed to stay with Kripa?

Doc - just one Mr Khanna

A - is it ok if me and her mother stay here, I know its against the rules but I can't talk her out of going home and I'm not going to budge until Kripa is out of this hospital

Doc - but Mr Khanna....

A - please doc, just this once

Doc - ok Mr Khanna, one of you may stay in the waiting room while the other stays in the patients room

A - thanks....

 

The doctor begins to walk away when Angad holds his arm

 

A - and thanks for saving her life

Doc - please Mr Khanna, I don't do this for thanks

 

Angad smiles and goes into Kripa's room where she is lying with wires on her arms and the oxygen mask on her face, he sits by the bed and takes her hand in his, tears drop onto her hand

 

A - I'm sorry Kripa....this is my fault, I should never have driven so fast, please wake up...I need you Kripa, more than anyone, if you leave me then I'll die Kripa. If there's no Kripa then there's no Angad, my life is incomplete without you, please come back to me

 

Angad closes his eyes and rests his head on the pillow by her head. Gayatri stands by the door watching with tears in her eyes. She opens the door and goes inside and puts her hand on Angad's head

 

G - you should get some rest Angad, I'll stay with Kripa for a while

A - ....ok aunty

 

Angad leans forward and kisses Kripa's forehead lightly then leaves the room, he goes to the waiting room and sits down and puts his head back, he closes his eyes hoping to get an hours sleep but when he wakes its morning. He blinks his eyes and stretches, he goes outside to see Gayatri feeding Kripa, he smiles and runs to the room and hugs Kripa, Gayatri gets up and leaves them alone for a while, he pulls away and smiles at her

 

K - what? you got scared?

A - I almost died....when did you wake?

K - I don't know, but when I did, I saw mama here, she told me you were resting in the waiting room

A - I'm glad you're ok

 

Angad kisses her forehead

 

K - yeah....mama told me Prithvi gave me blood

A - yeah...

 

Angad sits by her and feedsher soup

 

A - I didn't want him to but I had no choice

K - its ok

A - I think he's learnt his lesson...he knows not to trouble us anymore, and I have a sneaky feeling, Gayatri aunty will allow us to get married

K - I hope so....you didn't get hurt did you?

A - no just a few scratches thats all. Now stop talking and save your energy and have your soup

 

Kripa smiles and obeys him, Gayatri smiles while watching from the door.

 

coming up - Angad takes care of Kripa while she's in hospital. Gayatri realises Angad is the only one for Kripa and promises them both she will get them married
