EPISODE-37

 

 

Naina preferred to look outside the window than turning to the other side and face Rajveer. She didn't even realize when her boredom drew her to a nap. She had been without a wink of sleep for last more than 24 hours. Rajveer saw her sleeping with her head leaning against the window. With every jerking the bus made, her head would bang against the window and her sleep would get disturbed. Though she didn't wake up but she could not even sleep properly. Rajveer slipped his hand behind her neck and kept his palm between the window and her head. One more time the bus jolted. But this time Naina's head struck something soft. Finding it something unusual she turned to other side and without realizing rested her head on his shoulder. Rajveer found himself in a very difficult situation. He could not have woken her up nor could he let her be and especially after all that had happened. He looked at Navin who was also sleeping. Rajveer decided not to wake her up. To support his hand that was stuck behind her neck, he opened the window and held the rod.

 

Almost an hour later Navin woke up. He was feeling a bit tired sitting in one position. He moved himself a little bit in an attempt to change his position but before he could, something caught his attention. A big smile ran over his face. He watched that scene with great interest for a while.

 

Naina's head was still over Rajveer's shoulder and his head was tilted over her head. His one arm was around her shoulder and Naina was holding his other hand tightly with both her hands. Both of their faces had a smile and they were in deep slumber. Navin shook his head and slept again. But he was happy to see them together and close.

 

As Naina opened her eyes he found herself in Rajveer's arms again. She wanted to free herself but his touch was again making her go weak in her knees.Suddenly the bus stopped. Conductor asked the passengers to get some refreshment for themselves from the road-side food joints. They had reached almost half the way.

 

Rajveer also got up from the conductor's voice. Even he was equally shocked to see Naina in his arms. Naina looked up. Rajveer could feel himself drowning in those beautiful deep eyes. But Naina lowered her eyes. Both of them were feeling uncomfortable. Naina tried to get away but she could not. Her hair was entangled in the button of his jacket.Both of their hand reached for the button but Naina was quicker. She reached first and instead of holding the button Naina's hand came in his hand. He removed her hand and took out her hair. Two of them quickly separated.

 

He turned to Navin who was still sleeping. His face showed that he was in pain. They both got up to check on him. Naina touched his forehead to see his temperature.

"Bhaiyya ko to fever hai."

"Woh to hona hi tha. Kafi exertion ho gaya hai."

"But we are just half the way...Abhi to kafi journey baaki hai."

"I know. Main khaane ke liye kuch le aata hoon. Uske baad ise medicines de denge. That should help. Waise bhi isne kaafi der se kuch nahin khaaya hai."

"Okay."

While talking also they hardly looked at each other. Naina woke him up. He got up but he looked fragile.

 

Rajveer came back with some food and water for all of them. Navin couldn't eat much but Naina forced him to eat as much as he could. But he ate very little. Naina gave him his medicines and under the effect of those strong medicines, he slept again. Their journey restarted in 10 minutes.

 

Around 4 pm they reached Raiwind. They were the last ones to get down from the bus. Navin's fever had increased tremendously and he was on the verge of loosing his consciousness. As they got down Abdul came to them. He looked at Navin who was looking very unwell.

"Inki tabiyat to bahut zyada kharab lag rahi hai. Aap dono inhe le kar yahan rukiye, main gaadi le kar aata hoon."

 

He hurriedly brought the car and they set out for their hide-out. But on their way, Navin passed out. Navin's condition was worrying them. After an hour's drive they reached outside the same building. They carried him inside the basement to a room which was well furnished with almost all kind of amenities.

 

They put him on the bed. Rajveer took out an injection from his bag and injected it to Navin.
