Khushi yawned, she could sleep no more. They had hit the bed early, at around seven owing to the tiredness after returning from Vishaka, her cousin's, marriage reception. She sat up and looked sideways to see the time. Three in the morning. She sighed and turned to her husband who was sleeping. His abdomen was against the mattress. She smiled sinking low and wrapped an arm around him. Although, her touch made him move, it didn't wake him up. She gently started caressing his hair, when she was convinced he was in deep slumber.

She lazily lay beside him caressing his hair or his stubble occasionally. Year and a half back, she never knew love could be so powerful and consuming. Now she couldn't think of a day without him. Although, at times bitter, their relationship was sailing smooth. It had been five months to Anjali's marriage. Of course the two of them missed her around. But they both knew she was in a happy place with Deep. Her engagement with Vikas had broken more than year back. They had differences. Khushi knew it had hurt her. But she was glad that her friend chose Deep. He was their classmate in school who happened to join Anjali's workspace. Anjali slowly became cheerful again. And eventually decided to give love another chance.

Khushi was lucky that way. She smiled remembering the first time they had confessed their feelings to each other. She wouldn't ever forget it. In short, life was good. He took a deep breath and yawned and Khushi looked at him. Her attachment to him had only grown over the past few months. It was like with every passing day her love for him grew deeper. "Good morning!" She whispered when he opened her eyes. "What's the time?" He asked in a sleepy yawn. "Ten minutes to four." He stretched and turned settling his head on the pillow looking at her. "That's too early." He spoke his voice a hoarse whisper. She smiled laying her head on the same pillow beside his. "It is, but that's what happens when we sleep early."

He pulled her closer and she placed her hand on his chest. "Are your feet better now?" He asked referring to the aching feet she had yesterday due to the new heels she had worn since six in the morning.

"Much better." She replied making patterns on his t-shirt with her fingers. "Someone seems to be wide awake." He commented glancing at her. She blushed understanding what he was trying to imply. "Yes, let's go for a walk. How about witnessing the sunrise today? "

Arnav grinned and in seconds he was over with her underneath him. "We can see stars together you know?" He winked. Khushi giggled. "That's a good idea too."

An hour later, the two of them were ready. After indulging in some love making they had decided to actually go out and cherish the early morning. Being on the west coast of India, Mumabi had close to null points from where sunrise could be witnessed. So they decided to visit the Juhu Beach.

"Khush?" He called when he didn't find in the room. He shut the door of the bathroom and headed out, thinking she would already be downstairs. "Let's go!" She said softly emerging out from the kitchen with a bag in hand. "What's that?"

"Some coffee and butter bread." She grinned. He smiled as she slipped her arm around his. He glanced at her lovingly, she knew what that look meant. Before he could make a move or say something she brushed her lips over his. "I love you!" She beamed as she said those three words. Immediately after, a kiss landed on his cheek. "I love you too!" He whispered kissing her forehead.

"I think we should sleep early every day!" She spoke as they reached the car. He grinned, "I like the nights." He winked and she blushed laughing. Life was good. Togetherness had healed them so much. They smiled as their car headed out of the gates. No matter what road, if they made the journey together, it would always be worth it.

Also, leave your feedback about where I could improve. I am sure at certain points you would have felt things could have been better. DO mention them so that with my next short story I can do better.

Also, if emotional angst stories filled with little quirk, romance and peppered with steamy scenes here and there, are the kind you like to read I would ask you try out my book "Kissing Away Insecurities". It's too detailed and long to give you all an Arshi version hence I am recommending the original book!  The book is one of my most loved works, do try reading a few chapters!
