Happy Diwali all here’s a moment to add a sparkle to your festivities
A moment like no other ..
Picture books, teddies and other toys only ever kept Sneha entertained for so long. There was something about them that just didn’t quite satisfy her curiosity for life.
She liked nature!
Lady birds, rain drops and people. People who were always different in some way or another. Some big some little. They all looked different, got up to different things. Sneha loved to watch and learn from them and most of all of all they all paid her attention.
Her favourite person of all being her father. Every time it sounded like there might be someone entering the house her ears pricked up and she trundled over to the entrance hoping it would be her father.
Stood in front of the door Sneha waited patiently, the door would soon open and maybe just maybe it would be her Da.
She could hear a voice, the sound of shuffling and footsteps which were all very exciting for little Sneha but soon everything went silent.
“Da?” She mumbled looking up at the door still hopeful.
.. but all had gone quite.
Stepping a little closer to the door onto the door mat Sneha heard an unexpected clang of the letter box opening and shutting and felt whole heap of letters shower over her just like rain.
“Oops” it was the Post man with the morning post and now there was letters all over the floor. Sneha had letters stuck in her dungarees.
…
Later that afternoon Shena again heard a key turning in the lock and the door being opened again and this time she was sure it would be her Da. Scooting over into the hallway dragging her teddy along with her this time for company she stopped in front of the door again.
Staring at it in anticipation her little face soon fell from a adorable excitement into confusion when George entered the house. Looking down at a growing Sneha he preached to his knees and popped his head over from behind a brown paper bag of groceries. Now if anyone could work out why Snehas was stood at the entrance at this time of the day with a frown on her face it was George.
“Not yet buttercup”
He said caressing Sneha under the chin where it tickled. For what it was worth it did make Sneha smile just that little bit. Charming George was able to distract Sneha for some time after that. At first with the items he’d purchased, then shapes and boats made out of the grocery bag and then baking but not for long!
…
It was almost time for Rishabh to come home when Prerna walked down from her study top up her cup of coffee. It was the aroma that had caught her attention.
“Something smells good” she smiled
“Cookies for the girls, George replied warmly.Prernas eyes searched for Sneha.
“She’s waiting for her father.” Pointed out George from under his half moon glasses and Prerna looked over to see Shena stood near the entrance, just in front of the door.
It wasn’t something she’d noticed before probably because she normally worked from the office.
George’s explanation was intriguing and made Prerna wonder.
“I think she takes after Miss Kuki she’d spend hours staring out of the window waiting for her father when she was a toddler. To think of it all of you young ladies in fact.
At first I’d assumed Kuki was just bored with my company and couldn’t wait for Mr Bajaj to return now i realise well Georgie is the same
..And Sneha
…Ive found Mary stood at the doorstep for for me on the odd occasion come to think of it.”
It really did fascinate Prerna and before she could ponder on this words George had to break away.
Break away at the sound of Mr Bajajs car park up in the driveway it seemed
“Excuse me Mrs Bajaj” .. he said in his gentlemanly manner and she watched wipe his hands walk over to Sneha who held his nand in excitement and follow George outside onto the porch.
Prerna sipped on her coffee watched from the window with a smile. Sneha stood by George’s side hand in hand watching Mr Bajajs car park up into the drive way.
As soon as little Sneha laid on her da the biggest most adorable smile took to her face. Prerna watched Mr Bajaj sweep Sneha into his arms it was the most adorable of moment’s to watch.
..
As George stepped back into the house .
“What do you think it is George?”
She asked curiously
“I’m not sure Mrs Bajaj I guess it’s difficult to say, different things for us all I imagine.
I’m sure Georgie just after my toffees at times, sometime it’s just a a cuddle.
You must let me know if you ever work it out Mrs Bajaj. He smiled the way George did with his sparkly eyes and Rosey cheeks.
“I will” smiled Prerna.
…
The next afternoon a rainy and sleepy day for Sneha, Prerna comes down into the kitchen and as per the day before she hears Mr Bajajs car approach the drive way.
George catches Prerna glancing towards the door as she makes her coffee and he goes about about caring for his plants in the kitchen counter.
“Would you like me to accompany you Mrs Bajaj?” he suggests with a smile catching Prerna by surprise.
…
A few mins later and Prerna is stood under the umbrella George holds out for her whilst they both wait.
In the few moments that it takes for Rishabhs car to park up George takes this as his cue to return into the house and give the couple their privacy.
Before leaving George offers up the umbrella. “Thank you George but I’ll be fine” she smiles.
Of Course nods George not forgetting Prernas love for the rain.
…
Although it was unusual for Prerna to be stood waiting for him this way it did somehow please Rishabh.
He’d always felt a relaxation and ease wash over when he first lay eyes on his wife at the end of a busy day.
Prernas sensation was more like butterflies maybe because this was unusual.
She’d never thought such an arbitrary moment could feel so special but acting on a whim meant she had no idea how to react when he would eventually be stood in front of her.
And he was, in seconds.
By the time she could figure out what would appropriate he’d passed her a very charming gaze and kissed her on the lips before staring down at her
“Prerna, Is something the matter?”’she heard him say.
She looked up at him nodding a no but
Wasn’t this a nice feeling, it was attention and concern and love all wrapped in one.
“No,
..I was just curious that’s all” she mumbled the last bit realising her words might not make much sense to him.
“Senha kaha hai? (where’s Sneha) he asked looking round Prernas side to see if she was hiding but it seemed not.
“Shes asleep”
“It’s raining shall we go inside?” He asked with a raised eyebrow and she smiled yes.
“It was true thought Prerna.. there was no way to describe such a moment it was a moment like no other she wanted to experience time and time again.
