Chapter 10 - Date fixed

It was Saturday evening. Geet and her family were at Khurana Mansion. They were discussing the engagement date that was fixed to happen after 15 days. 

Geet felt heavy at heart when she saw everyone was so happy. Dev had an all time big smile plastered on his face. Logically, everything seemed correct, the deal was done, both families were on good terms, they were Khurana’s, Dev was fine with her not being able to give much time. But her heart was trying to find a reason where this does not materialize and  she knew this wish was all due to her adventure with the professor. Had she not met the professor and had she not been addicted to that man, she would have been very fine with the alliance. It was all due to the professor. No this is fine, she will be settled in life and eventually fall in love with Dev just like most husband and wife do.  She didn’t believe in love, then why would she advertise love marriage? This arrange or say deal marriage was good for person like her, who worked with brain and not heart.

But, professor's consistently stating that he will not touch her once she is engaged to Dev was haunting her. And why had he proposed to her that day. Then Geet explained herself that this is temporary and things will fall in place eventually.

Happy dinner was going on, on the ground floor of the Mansion. Geet was every now and then stealing glances and looking upstairs, in hope of getting one glimpse of her professor. How ironic, she could never think of Dev as her Dev but the professor was always her professor. He must definitely be aware that she was down here, could he not make one appearance to give her his glimpse. Dinner was done. As time passed by Geet restlessness was increasing. Was he fine? Hope so? but her heart cried and shouted at her, how could he? Why would he not be fine? Its just casual between them? her brain shouted back.

Everyone was planning for a family drive and have ice cream at a famous ice cream parlor and celebrate the date fix. But all the time, Geet’s mind was scheming a plan to get one glimpse of Professor.

As the whole family walked out, Geet quietly left her purse and cell on the couch. Dev walked beside her. She gave him her standard plastic smile, he gave back the same. Ragini and Sanjeev were trying best to include Geet as would be Daughter In Law but Geet would just give smile, no not so soon from her.

When they reached the parking lot

“Ohh Dev, i think i have missed my cell and purse inside. I will run and get it. You guys proceed”

“You go get it, I will wait.”

“No Dev, actually it will take a bit longer as i just remembered to call my friend, it was urgent. Also I will reach there with my car.” Geet somehow got rid of all and sent them off to the ice cream parlor. 

The moment Geet heard all of them left, she took her steps towards the first floor. Her heart was scared to reach his room but she tiptoed towards his room. But as she peeped in his room, her eyes widened to see the state in which he was. He reminded her of the person she had met in their first meeting, even worse. The bottles were thrown on the ground and there he was sitting on the ground with the support of a bedpost, almost in no sense. He was blabbering to himself. If she would have not known him, it would have been impossible for anyone to convince her that he was the senior professor in the Management institute, had his own private chamber, and he was author of her most favorite book. This man had so many personality traits, she did not know which one to consider the real him. Or was there more to him, to confuse her further. Only if Geet would have considered joining the dots and if dots are not joining why. 

“Professor” she ran to him “Inspii…raa….tion” he said sluggishly 

“What’s all this professor? Why are you heavily drunk?”

“This is my Saturday night Inspi.. inspi.. inspiration” 

“But why?” she made him get up and help him sit on the bed

“Saturday… start thiiiis much” he showed her this much with two fingers

“Awww” he burped  and she rubbed his back “Why have you done this” he held her hand and pulled her on bed beside him

“Dheere Dheere sab yaad aane lagta.. then this goes on increasing” he showed her all the bottles

“Why don’t you try to mingle with people down” “Yuckk” and she laughed as he made face

“Awww” he burped again

“Today, i doubled” 

“Kyun??” she felt so helpless. Then she realized, this man was here all while alone, lost in his drink, no one even cares to check on him. He is all alone in this world, at least for that they could check.

“Ajj double” 

“Why Professor” she was rubbing his back, trying to sooth him “You were here, getting your date fixed… celebration” he raised his hand

Geet could not hold and hugged him tight “Why did you bring your heart in between”

He separated and pointed his finger at his heart “It all started from here” Geet closed her eyes. She knew he was in a drunken state and did not know what he was saying. 

“Why?” she asked helpless

He got up and started walking, completely unstable and then held the table for support

Geet ran behind him and held him “Stay away” he said 

“Why? Are you upset with me? I already told you I am going to get engaged with Dev” she came in front and the “Awww” and he threw up on her, she moved and all went on ground. Soon the whole ground and Geet were covered with his puke. 

“Professor, are you OK” is the first thing she asked. Professor looked at her and smiled. This girl who was epitome of hygiene and sophistication, as of now did not even care of being covered  by his puke and is all worried about him.

“What is this silly smile for?” she scolded him and he nodded his head for no but kept smiling. 

She pulled him “Now stop smiling and tell me where’s the washroom” he signaled from hand and she pulled him there. 

“Now you need to get fixed. Wash yourself. Where’s you closet, need to get your clothes”

“Go find” he said sitting on the bathtub  “Aww”

“No no no prof, not again, don’t throw it on me ” She closed the door and got his clothes out. He freshened up, took a slight shower and came out wrapped in a towel. Geet’s eyes went on him and she kept looking at him… his well formed chest, his wet hair and only a towel wrapped on his waist.

He still was not much stable but better than before 

“Nakul would have cleaned up the room, why did you do it?” 

“coz i don’t want world to know i am here handling your puke on myself”

“Go to the next room, get freshen up there” “And what do I change into? your shirt” he came near her “I don’t mind that”. But soon he was emotional  

“Joa na… that is a magical room” he was not much in sense and he just wanted to go in the flow of his heart. In his full sense he would have never sent her to that room. Geet could see his emotion. She smiled and went to the next room as directed by him.

Geet went to the next room and was mesmerized by it. It was magical, so soothing and serene. It had such a wonderful famine feel. As she was feeling dirty, she went to the bathroom, freshened up and came out wrapped in a towel. Water droplets from her hair falling on her shoulder. She turned around to see a wonderful portrait of a beautiful lady there. Mesmerized by the beauty, she went closer 

“My mom” she turned with his words. He was stading at the door.

 “She is so beautiful” simply came out of her lips

“Was” he corrected

Geet could see the emotion all over his face “She is still very much in your heart and I can see why. She looks so mesmerizingly beautiful and serene. This whole room has her feel i guess”

“I try to keep….” he stopped and changed the topic 

“Go change. There's a range of her beautiful Sari’s.” he sat down on ground all lost and with some heaviness in head

Not even looking at her, lost, he said, “Will you wear her Sari for me?” There was nothing physical happening at this moment between them, but Geet felt encapsulated in his world.

She sat down “Which one do you want me to wear” He went ahead and got one of his Mom’s favorite one for her

She held his arm “You are not in sense professor. Are you sure you won’t regret later”

“You don’t want to wear” sadness could be seen on his face “Of course, I would love too. You go, I will drape and show you.”

Professor was crazily waiting for her to appear and when she came draped in his Mom’s Sari, he just kept looking at her as if forgot to blink. Geet was confused as what was going in his mind

“Are you regretting, professor? ” He came forward and placed his finger on her lips “Shhhh, let me look at you” she stood there as he kept admiring her. Geet was burning with his gaze on her, on top he was looking so fresh after his shower, Damn sexy.

She came closer and wrapped her hands around his neck “Bas karo professor. Aaj he engagement ke date fix huee hai meri.”

He pulled her to him “How did you end up here”

“Now you are asking” she pulled his nose 

“I tricked. That’s what you make me do” she placed a peck on his lips

“Later called dad and told him to handle them. I was not interested in the ice cream parlor.”

“Your Dad agreed” “He always agrees and helps me. That’s how my dad is.”

Geet looked into his eyes, she herself was not able to separate herself from him, this moment seemed so beautiful, so private

“Professor, I need to go now” he nodded for no and pulled her closer

“No” 

“Professor, please” she pleaded

“Then get my hand off yourself and leave on your own” she hugged him and spoke in his ears

“You know i can’t do that” but then his hands were roaming on her soft bare waist. 

“Professor, please” she cupped his face, ohh he was looking so damn sexy and vulnerable at the same time.

His hands went up her waist to her back as he brought her even closer

“Aaj jane kee zidd na karoo” he spoke with so much genuinely, she smiled 

“Okay, if you think it’s correct” Denying him and his closeness was something Geet could not do.

“Okay Go.” and he pulled her for a deep kiss, Geet herself was dying for one. They kissed like mad, the kiss was not only physical but so many unknown emotions were poured in it. 

Later as she was leaving he held her wrist “Keep this with you.” he showed her the Sari she was wearing

“Will you?” he confirmed. 

Geet smiled, “Forever.”

When Geet reached home, her Mom was pacing to and fro in the hall and her Dad was sitting, chilling on the huge sofa, looking at her mom. Geet looked at her Dad, signaling towards Mom.

“You” he spoke with lip movement and fingers

Geet took a breath “Mom”

“So here you are? where did you disappear and with a switched off phone. And do you realize, we were going out with your would-be husband and family?” she spoke in one breath

“Mom-mom calm down, one of my friends was in need.” it was then Rano’s eye went on Geet and she questioned her change in dressing 

“My dress got messed up. My friend offered me this one”

“It looks beautiful on you. But that’s nice, when I ask you to wear Sari you won’t but when friend offers drape it”

“mom” she hugged her Mom and Rano patted her back

“But beta, you don’t ignore your would-be family this way darling” Geet smiled and accepted.

She took their leave and was off to her room, where she immersed herself in her moments with her Professor.
