Chapter 12

              Part – 11 

Maneet set out to Chandigarh in Maan’s jeep… 

Ranno is happy as if her daughter is going to her sasuraal… 

She believes Maan is the perfect match for her innocent and stubborn daughter… 

Maneet are on their way…. 

Geet didn’t expect that she would go back to college anytime soon…. 

It’s like some magic that Maan came into her life as her savior… 

Geet is happy to be able to presume her studies again… 

She is surprised that Maan has understood her so well within a couple of days… 

She is thankful to her bababji for sending his Messenger MSK to help her out…. 

Maan on the other hand is content that he could bring back the happiness in someone’s life even though he couldn’t do the same in his own life… 

He won’t deny the fact that it gives him immense joy and satisfaction seeing the smile on Geet’s face… 

Geet enjoys the open jeep ride with the feel of the surroundings making her believe that she is flying high independent in the sky which is what she always dreamt about… 

She feels as if she has got her wings back, thanks to this man, who is still pretty much a stranger, sitting beside her… 

Maan: ab toh tum kush haina?

Geet: haan, bahut kush

Maan: college jaaane ki kushi ya mujhse chutkara pane ki kushi

Geet: dono hi nahi, par iss suhaana safar ki kushi

Maan wonders how Geet lives the moment like a kid and forgets all her worries within a blink of an eye… 

Maan wishes that he could be like her …. He is happy that he is trying to copy her and enjoy as much as he could when he is with her… 

He feels very light and carefree when he is in conversation with her… 

He forgets for a while that he is the MSK, and goes back to his worry free younger ages… 

Maan: toh tum mujhse juda hone se kush nahi ho?

Maan tries to find some solace that she does likes his company… 

Geet: mujhe toh iss baat ki kushi hai ki finally mujhe bhi ek boyfriend mil gaya

Maan is shocked to hear that… 

Maan: boyfriend?

Geet: mein toh sirf all girls school aur college hi gayi hoon, ab mera pehla friend jo boy ho woh Mr. Maan Singh Khurana hai, samajh gaye?

Maan: I can’t say me too for that 

Geet: what?

Maan: you are not my first girl friend na? 

Geet: hmm,  I know

Maan: for your kind information I have a lot of girl friends

Geet: achcha? Aap ko dekh ke aaise nahi lagtha

Maan: kyun?  Am I not charming enough to impress the girls

Geet takes a keen look at him… 

Geet:  charming toh hai, par thoda kadoos bhi ho, issiliye chances are very less

Maan: phir tum do hi din mein meri girl friend kaise bani?

Geet: kyunki mein Geet Handa hoon, mujhe koi aur ladhka nahi mila na

Maan: that’s so rude, koi other options ho toh tum mujhse dhosti nahi karoge kya?

Geet: hmm, ye bahut mushkil sawaal hai

Maan: Geeeet

Geet: achcha, aap hi mere pehle boyfriend ho, shayad meri eklauta boyfriend

Maan: that’s a privilege I'll always  cherish

Geet: but you can’t take my friendship for granted, you should always be there for me whenever I need a friend

Maan: jo hukkum sarkar, ye jeeni aap jab chahe jahan chahe aap ke liye hazir hoga, and that’s a promise

Geet: sachi

Maan: haaan 

Geet befriends Maan in that journey… 

They reach the hostel by evening…. 

Maan helps Geet carry her bags… 

Geet goes to meet the warden… 

Maan accompanies her … 

Warden gives an insulting look at Geet ….

Geet: mera room mein koi aur ladhki hai

Warden: haan, she is a new admission

Geet: mein kahan rahoongi?

Warden: how would I know? 

Geet: mera room kidar hai?

Warden: what are you doing here?

Geet: I’m a student here

Warden: you are a student of the college, not my hostel

Geet: what?

Warden: I can’t let people like you to stay in my hostel, there are many innocent girls staying here under my care, I’m responsible for their well being 

Geet: what do you mean by people like me? 

Warden: you don’t want to hear more than that dear, just leave with whoever it is

That warden looks cheaply at Maan… 

Maan is puzzled… why is the warden looking angrily at him? 

He is not going to stay here… 

Warden thinks that it’s Geet’s latest boyfriend or so… 

What does this girl think of this place? Koi recreational facility that she can use as and when required? 

Warden is starting Maan now instead of Geet… 

Geet can’t take that insult to Maan… 

Geet: you have no rights to judge him, it’s none of your business

Maan holds her back….: Have some patience Geet

Warden: halo Mr

Maan: Mr. Maan Singh Khurana, Khurana Construction, Delhi

Warden: what do you want?

Maan: I have come here to drop my fiancée at her hostel, I think she deserves some respect form a responsible person like you 

Warden: she has lost all my respect, she has no place in my hostel  

Maan: that’s very rude ma’am, you just can’t deny her a room for no reason 

Warden: no reason? I can give you a lot of reasons 

Maan: like 

Warden: I think you don’t know much about Geet 

Maan smiles… 

Maan: you have mistaken, I know everything about Geet, I think you know nothing about her 

Warden: what? Are you insane? You know what she did and you still believe I would let her stay here? 

Maan looks at the warden seriously…. 

Maan: I know she made a misjudgment, she is sorry for whatever happened and would be careful hereafter 

Maan hints at Geet to apologise… 

Geet: sorry ma’am 

Maan:  she has learnt her lessons the hard way, now she is more equipped to handle the real world out there, I think she handled the situation with a lot of guts and maturity, she fought for her friend, and that’s what friendship stands for, I think you would join me in appreciating her courage to overcome such an adverse situation

Warden is shocked to hear that from Maan… she thought Maan wouldn’t have known the true story, or else how would he support her after knowing the truth? 

Warden: I totally agree with you Mr. Khurana, but you see, there are a lot of young girls here, I should take care of them too, I’m answerable to their safety

Maan: I know m’am, Geet would strictly follow your orders 

Warden: but if I let her stay , wouldn’t that be bad precedence?

Maan: why would it be? In fact if you take Geet back, it would be an example that where there is a will there is a way, and it would actually encourage girls to stand up for themselves whenever they face such situations in life by any chance

Geet: if you don’t let me stay here, where will I go m’am? 

Warden: it’s not my problem dear

Maan: if I wish I could arrange  a private stay for her with personal aids ma’am, but I want her to stay with her friends again and enjoy her normal college life just like any other girl

Warden thinks for a while… 

Warden: ok, I’ll let her stay just for you, now you are purely responsible for her conduct as long as she is here

Maan: I can assure you that you won’t have any chance to regret this decision

Warden: please give your contact details in the guardians book

Maan gives his personal no and email details… 

Geet is glad that she came with Maan, or else she would have never got a room in the hostel… 

Maan signs a few papers and Geet gets a room…. 

Warden: Mr. Khurana, the room would be ready in a couple of hours, you can wait outside or come back later 

Maan: thank you m’am 

Maan: so I think I should take a leave now

Geet is still not sure that she would get a room that easily… 

Their warden is a very very strict iron lady…. 

Geet: aap aaise beech mein chodke nahi jaa sakthe

Maan: mein yahan kya karoonga?

Already all the girls’eyes are on him only which Geet doesn’t like at all…. 

Geet: chalo hum Happy Singh ka dabha chalthe, mujhe bahut bhook lagi hai

Maan: dabha?

Geet: haan, ye yahan ka bahut famous dabha hai, unka tandoori chicken bahut yummy hota hai, I miss it very much

Maan: ok, I’ll take the jeep you come

Geet: hare, yahan paas hi hai, chalo walking chalte hai

Maan starts walking and Geet proudly walks alongside with him… 

She feels like she has got back her lost respect in everyone’s eyes… 

“See I have got a new friend, I’m not guilty of any crime as you all wrongly think…” that’s what is Geet’s feeling right now…
