Part 2 ; Regrets

When Pradyuman regained consciousness he was tied to a chair.......He saw that Abhijeet, Sudhakar, Daya and Asha were tied up as well.

Slowly everyone regained consciousness and started to try and get out of thier binds when a strange man entered the room........

Abhijeet recognised the man he told everyone that he's the father who killed his son in the beach murder case and tells the guy that he won't get away with anything

The man laughs and tells Abhijeet that he's not doing all this to get free......he's just doing this to ask them about their regrets.

"Regrets?" Abhijeet said mockingly , "don't bother about us.....I'll tell you what your greatest regret is.....this, which is happening right now. Do you think your sentence will be reduced by tying up four cops? You're terribly mistaken-"

At this the man kicked Abhijeet while screaming bloody murder "DO YOU THINK THIS IS MY GREATEST REGRET? YOU DUMBASS! MY GREATEST REGRET WAS KILLING MY OWN SON" He stopped himself to regain his composure , he spoke in a normal tone  but with melancholy in his eyes....Pradyuman could see that clearly , it was the same look he had everyday since......no he can't afford to think about that now so he asked the killer "why do you want to know our regrets?"

The killer replied "I did a lot of research about you band of misfits while I was hiding , and man! You guys have some serious unresolved issues! I mean I could tell what they are but I'd like to hear it from yourself.....first let's start with the muscle man himself " he pointed at Daya 

Daya was clearly enraged ......but he was simply biding time to get out of these ropes so he decided to play along "My greatest regret is that I never told Shreya how I felt and asked Abhijeet to deliver her a letter - which he never did!"

"Oh come on this agian?" Abhijeet was done with the whole Daya - Shreya drama "it's been eleven years get over youself!"

"Oh how can I when I didn't even get a proper explanation as to why you never gave that letter to her?" 

"It was because of her stupid father , yes her father , he took a huge loan from a guy to whom he cannot repay the ammount and decided to marry off his daughter to that guy's son"

"Seriously? What is this the 1950s? ....so he traded his daughter to get free of debt? What a cliche . And Shreya actually bought this?"

"Well , she's not aware about that arrangement, but now she  has more pressing matters to think about , her child has been kidnapped for the past 5 years and  still not found and everything

"Oh"

"Really Daya?" The man began to speak after watching that soap-ish conversation "That is your biggest regret ? I mean I get it , not one , not two but three failed relationships!  But shouldn't your regret  be that you haven't talked-"

Daya saw where this was going and stopped him..... "YES YES, THIS IS MY ONLY REGRET"

The man just shrugged "Whatever helps you to sleep at night after what you've done" "Now you guys..." He pointed at  Sudhakar and Abhijeet "My oh my , you guys have got a ton of issues....I mean Abhijeet's greatest regret would be not recognising his mother.....but everyone already knows that........but the both of you.........when you thought Sudhakar was the killer and wanted to prove it and Sudhakar reappearing decades later just to demote you? Discuss"

Sudhakar wasn't sure why this foolish man was doing all this ..his greatest regret would be not being there to save inspector Adithi from that mad bomber lady.....Adithi and Sudhakar were good friends...........Abhijeet had uselessly stationed Freddy at the call tracking place and he wasn't there because Abhijeet had told DCP Chitrole that he was incompetent and Sudhakar was at his undercover mission to prove otherwise......Thinking this made him angry at Abhijeet ............but this mad killer wants Sudhakar to fall prey to his anger and take it out on Abhijeet.... and the killer had  clearly got into Daya and Abhijeet's head back there......he wasn't going to let that happen to him . He said "Looks like you got your research wrong.....I and Abhijeet , we've put that incident behind us a long time ago""And one more thing.....how do you know all this? What reasearch did you do?"

"Newspapers......the killer replied........you guys bait the killers with sending out elaborate newspapers articles saying that so and so officer did this and hence suspended........and the worst thing is the criminals always fall for that crap........another thing.....how did you guys manage to get kidnapped thousands of times? Are you babies to be kidnapped that easily?"

"Don't ask me I was never there when those stuff happened......"Sudhakar replied "And I have no regrets"

"Oh really?.....then how would you feel if I said that even though you guys lock horns constantly , you're very simillar?"

"Excuse me?"

"Yeah both you and Abhijeet are the only people to stand up to your seniors and argue with them when you know you're in the wrong .....both of you have ran away from your crime scenes to prove that you're innocent .....yadda yadda yadda......that's why both of you can never be real friends and can never work cordially ,because you never confide your stuff with anyone, both of you have these walls up and never open yourselves up to anyone , and that'll be your undoing..........but look at Daya and Fredricks.....both of them are down to earth , and owns up to thier actions , that's why they can work as a team.....and as friends too because they have the patience to listen to both sides of the story before jumping into conclusions......but both of them decide to be your friends to just spare your feelings"

"REALLY?"- Abhijeet started to ask , feigning anger

"That's not true Abhijeet" Daya responded

"He's just trying to get inside your head Abhijeet" Sudhakar replied 

"Oh is that so Sudhakar? So tell me what is your greatest regret?"

"My greatest regret was not apologising to Dr Nyanti .....which I did just this morning"

"Hmmmm bummer......who else have I left......oh yes DCP saab......tell me  what's your greatest regret? Is is not solving the blast at CIDSB bureau killing all your "special officers?" " Or is it the time when the "Varun incedent" happened? Man it must've been sooooo bad for your entire team......such a shame......  Or is that the one where you killed your son? Tell me how could you sleep at night knowing that you riddled your son's body  with bullets?.......I mean I'm no saint but I killed my son because he got greedy and ambitious and decided to steal something big.....which would have resulted in both of us being caught......when I stabbed him , I felt miserable , but it had to be done....but you , you had some authority and power to make your son disappear from the face of the earth .....and yet you didn't-"

"THAT'S ENOUGH" Daya screamed "JUST BECAUSE HE'S STAYING QUIET DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU'RE RIGHT"

"But he is right" Pradyuman thought to himself .....all these years he had avoided himself from asking the same question......he understood that he did his duty as a cop......but the parent side of him blamed him endlessly for what happened after that......his wife divorced him......she knew what he did was right but couldn't live with her son's murderer......so she left him . DCP was praised for his bravery from his seniors but the price he paid for it was too much.......his greatest regret would be never spending quality time with his son as a father..... He had the righteous cop mask on his face even when he was at his home......he never actually knew his son......if he had he could've stopped his son from taking such a dark path.....

Cid bureau

Fredricks was starting to get worried......

Daya , Sudhakar ,Asha and Abhijeet left to make sure that DCP sir was alright .....they told him that they will be back within an hour......but it's been 3 hours......just to make sure he decided to track thier phones  .......all thier phones were in the same location ; DCP Sirs house......Freddy should have calmed down seeing this......his friends being in DCP sir's house should have brought relief to him......but something didn't feel right.....he decided to check for himself if everything was alright and left for DCP's house when he thought that he needed some backup......because he definitely felt something was wrong and called for backup "Senior inspector Michael .B. Fredricks here , requesting backup team at DCP Pradyuman's house"

He left DCP sir's house with the backup team 

DCP Sir's house 

Just as he reached DCP sir's house a man came flying out of the window breaking it into a million pieces in the process

Freddy was stunned but was quick to respond....he immediately recognized the man, handcuffed him and handed him over to the backup team

He went inside the house and saw Asha untying DCP sir , Abhijeet and Daya

"What happened?"

5 minutes earlier

When he got no reply from DCP......he moved towards Asha

"So what is your greatest regret JCP Asha?"

"How about I reveal your fears for a change? You are shit-scared  , you wanted to validate yourself for your actions , while comparing yourself with DCP sir , but you know the difference between you and him? He tried to redeem his son....reasoned with him many times to stop all his criminal activities.....but he didn't listen......he tried to reason with his son as a father and only then the cop side of him emerged and killed his son......you on the other hand was just terrified to do some jail time and stabbed your son in cold blood , and I'm sure that you've never tried to redeem him , you're the one who introduced him to this dark path which only ends in death/conviction ........ you can't compare yourself to anyone...... And you thought  you were getting inside everyone's heads by playing saint and exposing everyone's regrets? Everyone here played along with your BS just to get free of thier binds, you want to know my regrets? I have none!" 

Saying this she cut loose from her ropes and kicked the murderer........he stood up to retaliate when she gave him a roundhouse kick right in the chin which made him fly out the window.........

She untied everyone and when she was untying DCP sir she noticed that he hadn't said anything in a long time......she needed to talk to him personally about everything the murderer accused him of , just then.....

"What happened?" Freddy stood there with an amazed look on his face "Hey that kick was awesome Asha.....are you guys alright? I just handed that guy off to the backup team.....he's the murderer from the beach case right?"

"Yes Fredricks" Sudhakar  answered happily and hugged him....

Everyone were outside DCP Sir's house while Asha was telling DCP sir that she'll pay for the broken window .......after appreciating Asha ,Daya , Sudhakar and Abhijeet came out and started apologizing to each other about the things they said back in the house.

Asha came back after talking to DCP sir  "Well sir is fine with his window being gone but I still  insisted that I'd pay him.....what concerns me the most is that he seems rather shaken after the confrontation with that maniac we have to talk to him and make sure he's alright "

"I will.......in private......and I'll need your help as well....." Daya said "Asha , Sudhakar aap log mera saath kal yahan aao hum DCP sir se baat karte hain" 

 "Are you sure you don't want us?" Abhijeet and Freddy asked

"No you guys should be in the bureau making sure that none of the things the murderer said to us in the house is  in the official case paperwork" Sudhakar said "DCP sir loves paperwork and last thing he needs to see is the things the murderer accused him of in a legal document , abridge the paperwork if you can- no you know what? You should abridge the paperwork"...
