Chapter 9

Shaurya received a call from his trustworthy after he left the hospital. He was told that 'they' probably knew something but not everything. Shaurya asked what had the trustworthy found out. The man told him that he and his assistant have found out that the fire was not an accident and was probably being planned since very long. The fire that broke out was from the AC duct near Harish's suite where both Karuna and Harish were there for the day before the celebrations began. Probably the 'people' first tried to find out what they assumed were the evidences with Harish and when they were unable to find anything they set the hotel ablaze so that if at all there are evidences in the hotel they get destroyed with the burning hotel. Shaurya asked him if his home could also be under the radar for such attacks but the trustworthy told him that the chances for the same were negligible as 'they' thought that only Harish was probably aware of what was going on and since they didn't find anything on him they might just leave the Khanna's alone assuming them to be unaware of the whole wrong stuff 'they' want to hide. They still don't know how Harish sir and you are helping the authorities. They just are thinking on business rivalry levels because you and sir have not let anything out at all. Just be as normal and casual you can be. Just maintain a low profile and get the hotel restarted and on the launch claim that though the rivals tried to bring you down but your hotel was the Delhi's best and would continue to be. Just play as naive as you can be. Shaurya thanked the person and continued with his day.

When he reached home later that evening he saw crazy kind of preparations going on. It was apparently 'karwa chauth' the next day and his mother had hosted 'n' number of ladies for observing the fast at their place. It was being done on rotational basis since he was a small kid but he failed to understand how it could be two years in a row for his family. He asked his mother who told him that though it was Mrs. Swetlana's turn this year but due to some problem she won't be able to host the celebration as her husband producer Sanjay Malhotra had being doing a lot of work lately and it won't be feasible for her to arrange for such a gathering at her place with half her staff and belongings here at Delhi and half in Mumbai with her husband. Though her husband would be fly down to Delhi to make her open her fast.

Shaurya then looked at his mother seriously and asked her if she knew what this could mean especially after their cover was almost blown and 'those people' could have figured out everything. Karuna knew what he was saying and said that she didn't arrange for the celebrations on her own free will, it was almost as if Mrs. Swetlana and other ladies filled words in her mouth and put her in the spot. Shaurya understood that it was all being done as a potential trap and he needed to be careful. He got his team on stand by just in case and rechecked the security of the chip and his ever so precious laptop just to be sure. The whole karwa Chauth's arrangements and the other special arrangements consumed a lot of his time and then he handled some work related to one of his hotels in Jaipur before sleeping.

Next day he woke up earlier than usual and finished his morning schedule of his fitness and breakfast early and left. He could see how a part of his mansion was full of ladies who were getting henna applied on their hands while some entertainers performed. The gossip too was going on in full swing. He fully remembered his promise to reach the hospital and help during the discharge but there was still time for that so he went to buy a little something for Mehak. He reached a mall but most definitely couldn't step out because it was a busy day and he was no common man to go out like that without his bodyguard because handling the crowd could land people  in a soup more often than not. He called Awara to help him out in the situation and Awara reached the said location in no time. Sometimes Shaurya thought that how multi tasking Awara was and how his life would have been even more difficult had Awara not been there. Not only did he manage his security under cover but he also played the part of the house help just so that he remains close to his parents and his cover is not blown.

Awara asked him what shall he get for Shaurya but Shaurya didn't really know what would the bff like. He pondered over the question for quite sometime and then played safe and asked Awara to get a nice box of  chocolate pastries packed from the famous bake ideas and then collect a box of the best Italian chocolates with a bouquet of lilies. Awara did what he was asked for and handled everything to Shaurya before leaving for the mansion again.

Shaurya reached the hospital and went to Mehak'a room straight away. Mehak was sitting on her wheel chair ready to go home. She was dressed in a pair of denim capris that reached her knees and noodle strap top whose straps were tied on her shoulders to keep it in place. Shaurya entered her room and was pleasantly surprised to see Mehak in Western wear. The first thing he said after entering the room and overcoming the initial shock was "Seeta bani Geeta."

 Nehal who had entered the room just then said what did he mean, he explained that not that he mind but he had never seen Mehak in Western wear. Nehal head palmed and reminded Shaurya that he had seen Mehak only twice in normal clothes before he saw her in the hospital gown. Shaurya blushed saying that Nehal made a genuine point.

Mehak who was listening to something on her head phones turned her attention to them and asked why were they smiling. Both said nothing and Shaurya gave her the bouquet, the chocolates and the pastries he had arranged for her. Mehak accepted all of it with a smile. Shaurya asked her to taste the pastries and tell how they were but Mehak refused saying that she wasn't in a mood to eat or drink anything. Nehal got suspicious of her actions and asked her if she was again observing a fast for that idiot, Mehak said no but even Shaurya was then suspicious and started with his mellow drama and said that he was such a big star and he got the pastries from the most famous bakers of the city just for his friend and his friend was giving a him a hard time which was too much considering how hard of time he had at the shop saving himself from the eye of the common folk who would have come to him for selfies and autographs making it difficult for him to get out of the store and reach her and how he single handedly managed everything as his bodyguard was with his wife. While ranting he opened the box of pastries and tried to feed Mehak taking the spoon too near to her mouth. Mehak used her left hand to put the spoon away and said that she couldn't eat. On repeatedly persuading her to eat she finally confessed that she was observing a fast and she might hate Armaan but could not stop loving him at any cost.

Shaurya and Nehal looked at Mehak with surprise and anger. Shaurya though wasn't even related with the matter even remotely and didn't even know their past but it still made him mad. Nehal on the other hand was already dialling Kanta's number. Mehak stopped her and said that she should not give tension to Kanta Aunty as her BP might increase, already she was observing a fast and this would not be good for her health. Nehal whose call got connected said to Kanta that they were getting discharged in about an hour or so and then she would bring Mehak along with herself and Kanta should prepare something delicious for her as she is finally coming to their place and disconnected the call.

After disconnecting the call Nehal went whole Kanta on Mehak afterall she was Kanta's daughter and had inherited her anger. Mehak was listening to Nehal and so was Shaurya. It was then that even Ajay,Nikki and Vicky too entered. Nehal stopped as she didn't want to create a scene and Shaurya didn't say anything. The trio met and asked Mehak about her well being and left shortly after. It was then 1 when Mehak was finally out of the hospital. Nehal was taking her towards her car when Mehak said that Nehal had landed her in a soup and Kanta Aunty won't let her be without eating, drinking or meds. Nehal angrily said that it was what she wanted and there was no need to observe a fast for someone like Armaan and his darling new fiancee Shruti should do it for him if at all she was doing it.

 Mehak's face clearly told that she could cry any moment. It was then that Shaurya stepped in and said that Nehal could kill some hours before she absolutely had to go home and lie to Kanta that she has some important work and that Mehak would be with Nikita but in reality Nehal should go with his friends- Nikki, Ajay and Vicky and enjoy while Shaurya handles the fast obsession of Mehak. After some persisting Nehal agreed and left in her car to where Nikita asked her to come and Shaurya took Mehak in his car.
