Chapter - 32 

Roli watched helplessly as sid drove away. She entered the house with absent minded and bumped in to sujata, who just came out of the kitchen. 

"Where you're lost, roli?" Sujata asked, finding roli in pensive. 

Roli was snapped out of her thoughts, instantly as she stammered "no.. nothing, maa". 

"What's wrong, beta?" Sujata held roli's hand and asked with concern. 

Unable to come up with words, roli just shook her head in response. 

Watching keenly at her worried face, sujata interrogated "Did you get in to fight with sid again? Did he say anything to you?". 

As sujata was used to their cat fights daily, she thought that they might have fought again. But, to her surprise, roli replied "no, maa. He didn't say anything". 

"Wait, where's sid? You both went together, right?" Sujata just noticed that sid wasn't there with her. 

"He went out again" roli's voice sounded rather dull. 

Sujata understood that something was surely off. She brought roli over to sofa as they both settled in it. 

"Now tell me what's the actual matter" sujata asked seriously. 

Roli thought that it'd be better to clarify herself before her head would burst out of curiosity. 

"I'll tell but, you promise me that you won't tell about this to siddhant" roli said like a kid. 

"I promise" sujata assured with a smile. 

Gaining her courage, roli asked slowly "does siddhant have any girl in his life before?".  

As she split out the last word, she realized how stupid her question was. But, today she had to knew about this mysterious girl. 

Sujata thought that roli would say something so serious but, when she heard her question, she laughed. 

"Are you doubting my son or what?" Sujata said in all smiles. 

"Maa, please" roli really couldn't understand why she was laughing. 

Sujata stopped laughing and said "there's no chance for that. You don't need to worry about it". 

After hearing sujata's answer, roli felt a little relieved. But, soon her mind drove her to the incident while coming back from airport as it reminded her of that man. 

With a bit of nervousness, roli said "maa, when we are returning from airport, we happened to meet a man". 

Then she explained everything to sujata, who seemed to be taken aback as she listened to roli. 

"Maa.." roli called out as she watched sujata, who was in her thoughts. 

"Do you know anything about it. Why he was talking about siddhant like that?" Roli was determined to clear her doubts. 

"He might be ritika's father" after a few moments of silence, sujata spoke up. 

"Ritika? Who's she?" Roli got confused. She then remembered that man mentioning about his daughter. 

"She's siddhant's friend. Really a nice girl" sujata smiled as she reminded her. 

Roli's heart sped up it's beat. After listening to sujata's praising, she felt a strange weight over her chest. 

"You know Sid's friends, right? Ritika is also one of them. They all used to be a gang" sujata continued. 

"Then where's she now?" Roli asked, curiously. 

"She's in coma. Not sure of her current condition" sujata's voice was filled with sadness. 

"What?" Roli was shocked. She could hear her own heartbeat with the growing anxiety. 

"Ritika used to love sid. But, he always denied her saying that he treats her only as a friend. May be she couldn't able to accept his daniel that she committed suicide" sujata stopped as her words got stuck in the throat. 

"It happened when they were doing graduation. Though she was saved, she went in to coma. Her parents held sid responsible for their daughters' condition. They thought that he could have saved their daughter. After one month of that incident, they shifted to another city and never contacted anyone here. It took sometime for sid to come out of that whole thing. And when he did, he made himself distant from people even more. It's more than two years since that incident had happened and it made sid even more introverted than he used to be" sujata completed with a sigh. 

Roli was at loss of words after knowing the entire story. She suddenly felt like she knew nothing about sid till now. 

"We've tried a lot to change sid but, couldn't succeed. At that time your dad had come here for a business meeting. And I asked your dad to make you as my daughter in law. We brought you here so that we could bring you and sid together. And as expected, with your presence, sid is slowly coming out of the cage he built himself" sujata held roli's hand as a thanking gesture for changing her son. 

"Has ritika's father told anything about her health condition?" Sujata asked with concern. 

"No" roli replied as she was engaged in her own thoughts. 

"Hope she's fine now" sujata said, hopefully. 

"You like her so much, right?" roli said as she found sujata being concerned about ritika. 

"Of course, I like her. Don't know why she had taken such a stupid step of doing suicide. She wasn't like that. Hope she recovers soon" sujata smiled. 

Roli still couldn't come out of the things she just got to know. Yet, she was sure of one thing that whatever had happened in the past, it wasn't completely Sid's fault. He was just blamed for something he didn't do. No wonder that he would behave rudely sometimes. He became like that because of his bitter experiences from the past. She was determined that she'd do anything to make him live his life happily without any worries.
