Chapter - 31

Next morning, all the family members gathered at dining hall for breakfast. Roli's mood too got changed. She didn't look sad or being worried. After sid talked to her last night, she thought about it the whole night. As he said, she decided to ignore naina and her words. Thus, she was feeling much better when she woke up this morning, without any worries.

Sid, who had observed the change in her, felt relieved, though he didn't show it out.

Time flew by with them getting back to their busy college life. Jamnalal stayed back for one week upon roli's continuous pleasing. After a week, he got some urgent work in US, for which he had to leave.

Rosid accompanied him upto airport to send him off. Roli almost cried when the time had come for jamnalal to take off. Watching jamnalal feeling hard to leave after seeing her crying, Sid assured him to take care of her, through eyes.

After he left, rosid got back to their car. Roli was still sobbing, silently.

"Stop crying like a kid" sid felt like he was with a little kid, who'd cry soon after the parents left them in school.

Roli looked at him without saying anything as she continued to sob.

"God.. if you keep on crying like this, I'm gonna leave you here itself" sid warned, completely pissed off with her tears.

Roli instantly stopped sobbing and looked at him with a pout. She then turned and got in car. Sid, with a sigh, got in and started driving.

The distance between airport and bharadwaj house was long. So, it'd take time for them to reach. On the way back, roli sat silently as she wasn't in a mood to speak. Sid, who was waiting for her to speak, got annoyed with her silence.

The whole week she was busy as her dad got back. She spent most of the time with her dad. Sid didn't get much of a chance to spend time with her. And now that her dad left, her whole attention would be on him. Atleast that's what he thought. But, here she wasn't saying anything, making him pissed off.

"Roli.. are you planning for a silent strike?" Sid queried, fixing his focus on to road.

"What?" Roli turned and looked at him confused.

Sid smirked as his plan of gaining her attention got success.

"Nothing" he replied without turning to look at her and continued to drive.

"What do you mean by silent strike? What I did now?" Roli continued to question, keeping her complete attention on him.

Sid smiled, watching her eagerness to know his answer.

"Why you're smiling now?" Roli got curious with his behavior.

"There's something about you, which I'm not gonna tell" sid tried to keep her curiosity.

"And what's that?" Roli watched him keenly.

"Why should I tell you anyways?" Sid snickered.

"You... Speak it out" roli couldn't keep up with the curiosity and started punching his shoulder.

"Roli, stop it. I'm driving" Sid tried to focus on driving.

"First tell me what's that something about me" roli kept disturbing him.

Sid, though tried, lost his attention and was about to hit a man, who was crossing the road. Luckily, sid gained the control in a nick of the time and stopped the car.

Roli got panicked with the sudden incident. Sid got down from the car to check if the man was fine.

"Are you alright?" Sid asked, reaching him.

He was a middle aged man. He got up by taking his belongings, which fell on the road.

"I'm fi..." His words left unsaid as soon as his eyes fell on sid.

Same with sid. He too was shocked to see the man before him.

Roli, who just reached them, asked with concern "Are you okay?".

His gaze shifted from sid to roli. He watched her without saying anything.

"I'm sorry. I hope you didn't get hurt" roli apologized, holding herself responsible for the incident.

"So, you got a new girl" he finally spoke up after a few moments of silence. His eyes fixed at sid.

Sid stood silent and didn't say a word. Roli looked at him, confused. She didn't understand what he meant by mentioning her as 'new girl'. She was also surprised to know that sid had already knew this man.

Roli held Sid's hand and asked him in a low voice "who's he?".

"Get in to car" instead of answering her question, sid said her to get back in to car.

Roli was about to say something but interrupted by that man.

"I don't know who you're, but you should stop being with this guy. Take it as an advice from a father. Because being with him will only lead to bad. You might even end up dead.."

"Enough" sid shouted, stopping him from speaking further. Roli was startled at his sudden outrage. She had never seen him like this.

They were at a side of road, where not many people were there. Otherwise, it'd have created a big scene.

"Shouting like this cannot change the things. What if this girl too end up like my daughter" he said with tears forming in his eyes.

Sid fell silent for a few moments before saying "she won't".

By saying it, sid held roli's hand and returned to their car, without looking back at that man.

When sid started driving again, he didn't seem to be in a mood to talk to roli anymore and kept focus on road with a stern face while a millions of thoughts ran in his mind.

On the other hand, roli was in a mixture of complex emotions at the moment. After watching sid's anger and hearing that man's words, a lot of questions occupied her mind.

Remembering his words, she recollected him saying about his daughter. She wondered thinking what did sid had to do with him or his daughter.

When she was thinking about it, naina's words rang inside her head. She remembered naina saying about a girl from Sid's past. Could it be possible that the girl naina had mentioned and this man's daughter be one and the same? She questioned to herself, but got no answer.

The only person who could give any answers to her questions was Sid. She turned and gazed at his face. For some reason, she couldn't able to collect the courage to ask him about anything, watching the serious look on his face.

But, her heart was being heavy with the wild conclusions that her mind was drawing. She just couldn't imagine any of them being true.

After sometime of silence throughout the drive, they finally reached home.

Roli got down and was waiting for sid to get down. But, instead, sid turned the car and left. She tried to call him but he didn't wait and drove the car away, leaving her behind with all the puzzles in her mind.
