Chapter - 33

Roli wanted to see sid at the very moment she got to know the past. But, sid hadn't turned back, yet. 

Hours passed in a blink of an eye. Roli's appetite was poor at dinner. But, she had to have it for sujata. 

Time crossed ten, yet, there were no signs of sid. All the family members left to their rooms as they got used to Sid's habit of late coming. 

Roli kept walking from one corner to other in her room. For every five minutes she would rush to window to see if sid had returned. As she wasn't getting sleep, she went downstairs and was waiting for sid in hall. 

After an hour or so, when sid returned, he found roli sound asleep in the sofa. He stood before her, gazing at her, who looked like an innocent kid while sleeping. 

While watching her sleeping peacefully, the words of ritika's father rang in his mind. His gaze turned dark as he reminded of ritika's incident. 

"I won't let anything happen to you" sid promised to himself as his gaze softened at her sight. 

As he was too lost in her, he couldn't notice the movements in her body. Even before he could respond, roli, who was sleeping at the edge on sofa, lost her balance and fell down on to the floor. 

"Ouchh.." feeling the pain, roli was finally woke up from her sleep and sat on the floor, holding her elbow, where she felt pain. 

Sid squatted before her as he watched her. 

"When did you come?" Roli asked, looking at him as she caressed her elbow. 

"What are you doing here at this time?" Sid replied with a question. 

"I was waiting for you" roli tried to get up but couldn't as she felt a severe pain at her ankle. 

"Ahh.." with that pain, she again sat back on the floor. 

"What happened?" Sid asked, worriedly. 

"My leg" roli whimpered, holding her leg. 

"Come here" sid helped her to sit in sofa. He then bent down to look at her leg. 

Roli felt scared as she thought it'd hurt more if touched. And she didn't allow sid to examine it. 

"It'll be alright. Leave it" she shoved his hand off and tried to get up. 

Though she felt pain, she stood on her foot and tried to walk. Sid watched her walking with much difficulty. With a sigh, he grabbed her towards him and scooped her in his arms. 

Roli was startled at the sudden action and closed her eyes tightly out of fear. 

"It's nothing wrong to let others know your pain" sid spoke as he started walking towards her room. 

Finding herself safe in his arms, roli got relaxed as she circled her hands around his neck. 

Reaching her room, he placed her in bed. She was in all smiles until he spoke "you should start dieting. You're too heavy". 

"Did I ask you to lift me?" Roli glared, angrily.  

"If I hadn't done it, you'd still be crawling in the hall now" sid rebutted. 

"I don't need your help. I can take care of myself" roli turned her face away from him like an angry kid. 

"I know how well you can take care of yourself" sid scoffed at her. 

Roli glared at him as she tried to get up. 

"What do you want now?" Sid stopped, knocking on her forehead, making her to sit back in bed. 

"Blanket" roli yelled, pointing at cupboard as she caressed her forehead. 

Sid went near cupboard to bring blanket. When he opened it, he found a childhood pic of roli, which she took in a fancy dress compitition in her school. The costume she wore then was a bit comical, which made sid to burst out in to laughter. 

"What's so funny?" Roli frowned at him, hearing him laughing loud. 

"You're so funny" sid flashed the photo to her as he continued to laugh. 

Roli quickly tried to rush to him to snatch the photo. But as she tried to do so, she felt a severe pain at her ankle and she sat back. 

Watching her in pain, sid left the photo and rushed to her. 

"Can't you sit without hurting yourself" sid scolded her as he knelt down before her, taking her leg in to his hand. 

"It's all because of you" roli argued.  

Sid glared at her and twisted her leg. 

"Ahh.." roli cried in pain. "You.." she glared at him. 

"Is it still paining?" Sid asked, caressing her leg, gently. 

Roli looked surprised as she wasn't feeling pain anymore. She stood on her feet and took a few steps. 

She turned around and smiled brightly at him. "What you did?" She asked, surprisingly.  

"Now stop jumping and go to sleep" as usual, sid didn't answer her question, instead ordered. 

"Wait" when sid was about to leave, roli stopped him. 

Roli was hesitating to speak. As though sid understood her, he said "you want to know about that man and his daughter, right?". 

She stood still for a while before nodding her head as 'yes'. 

"You'll get to know when the time comes" sid said, calmly. 

"I wasn't going to talk about that actually" roli replied, bluntly. She even thought whether to tell him that she already knew about them. But, she wasn't sure of his reaction. So, she decided to keep it to herself. 

"I wanted to say that I'm not gonna stay away from you just because he said. No matter what people say, I'll always stay by your side" roli said in a go. Only after the words left her mouth, did she realize what she had said. Especially that last sentence made her to blush. 

Roli got nervous at her own words and looked away to avoid looking at him. 

Sid gazed at her as he felt his heart melting at her words. He was smiling inside, though, he didn't show it out. 

"Could she be anymore cute?" He wondered to himself. 

He then slowly moved near her, making her restless. His eyes were fixed on her whilst she kept her gaze down, didn't dare to look at him. 

When he was too close to her, she couldn't able to stop the butterflies dancing in her stomach. 

"It's too late already. We should sleep now" roli turned away to look at the clock as she tried to avoid his gaze. 

"It's good that you realized the time atleast now" sid said in mockery, still standing close to her. 

Roli pouted at him. While he smirked and turned around to leave. As soon as he turned, his stern face revealed a smile, which unfortunately roli missed to see as she was standing behind him. 

When sid left the room, roli sighed and got on to the bed. She had thought to talk a lot when sid returned. But, as usual ended up bickering with him. 

"Can't he talk simply without teasing and mocking me?" Roli pouted, thinking about Sid's attitude towards her. But, little did she know that he was already treating her in a very special way than others.
