That Valentines Week

They say, The blacksky inlaid with infinite stars and the brightness of the full moon looks asbeautiful as a bride does. Somewhere on the earth, a bride who was staring atthe full moon, without removing her eyes from it, was looking more, much morebeautiful than the Moon. Her chocolate orbs, rosy lips and smooth pink cheekswere enough to define her mesmerized beauty. Her red and golden lehenga,magnificent ruby and diamond jewelry and her hands all decorated with thecaramel shade of mehendi were making her even more beautiful.

Today was the huge day of her life, her marriage but her eyes were lost in themoon and the black sky as she was lost in the past, the memories of past. Thememories, the past was knocking the door of her soul rapidly and she startedflowing past, her past, their past, the past memories started painting in frontof her eyes like a canvass.

~~~~~~
Past
This was theroutine day, Khushi was at her farm house all alone alike her life, this was avalentines' week.  She always came at herfarm house at valentine's week to get separated from the entire world, as herfarm house was far away from the city, Delhi. She was on her terrace afterdinner for some fresh air and yes, the moon, the full moon. Her favorite art,created by nature. She was blessed with eternal beauty, but her eyes were hermirror, all the loneliness, questions and silence of her eyes, were the sign ofher pain, her agony and the incompleteness of her life. Those eyes, thatchocolate brown big almond shaped always screamed that loneliness, thatincompleteness.
The red heart shaped balloons were floating in the sky, the rose petalsscattered on the road and the colors of spring season were spread in thenature, it was the indication that the day of most beautiful and joyful feelingcalled love has arrived, the Valentine 's Day. It was 12 at midnight and shewas staring intensely at the moon. Love has a special existence in everyone'slife, alas she was an exception. The Love, the Valentine's Day, the full moonall were the part of her story, but the story was painful and filled with tearsof loneliness.
Years Ago, anine year old, Khushi Kumari Gupta, the only daughter of famous and workaholic businesstycoon and a well- known and independent actress, was chirpy and chummy, abundle of happiness, just like her name. Her life was beyond perfect, withoutany flaw. The Good God has blessed her with all the joys and prosperity of thechildhood.
But a day, the day of love, Valentine's Day, her parents decided to getseparate, the honorable court gave her custody to her mother and she has got dividedinto two, her mother as well as father. Her parent's ambition for their work stoleeverything from her, along her childhood. She received the love neither fromher father nor from her mother, all she got loneliness. The little Khushistarted believing that love gave her the hatred of the whole life, hatred forthe day of love, as they separated on the Valentine's Day, the so called day oflove and it snatched everything and everyone from her.
~~~~~

The day her parents separated,she started looking at the moon, as she sympathized from it, she startedthinking that the full moon was all alone in the huge and dark sky, alike her. The most terrible poverty is loneliness,and the feeling of being unloved and she was the poorest.

She was living herroutine life, bound with a timetable, rules and principles, as in herdictionary there was no existence of happiness, love and attachment. But shehad no idea that the life, a cluster of suspense has decided something else forher whom she had never dreamt, and a loud thud caught her attention. Ablack SUV collided with the huge tree. The front part of the vehicle wasdisastrously shattered and a hand hug out from the gate of driving seat, seeingthis she ran towards the vehicle.

Few hours later, He opened his eyes inspect the whole area and found himself ina hospital. He inquired himself his forehead was bandaged and the right handwas injured. He then look at his right, a girl wearing a yellow suit and whitelab coat over it was writing something on her writing pad. She was incrediblybeautiful his mind thought but within a second he took himself back. She askedhim flipping the pages of writing pad, "Howare you feeling now". "Better", he replied in a low tone. "Okay!So, Mr..?", she looked at him with raised brow. "Arnav Singh Raizada", he informed her proudly. "So Mr. Raizada, I'm your doctor, Dr. KhushiKumari Gupta.", she introduced herself and again started looking at writingpad, "We have done all your tests and itshows that you are fine now.  B- - ,",she spoke very casually in a single breath but he interrupted her in between, "Ah! Thank god! I hate hospitals. When I'mgetting discharge?", he asked in haste as he was dying to get out of thehospital. "Hmm! After a week.",  Khushi replied casually. "But I'm fine as you said before--", said Arnav disbelievingly. "Mr. Raizada! You are fine, not well. Andwhen are you my patient, you've no right to be impatient.", she looked athim and said firmly then shrugged her shoulders, "So you have to take rest for a week, I'm not going to discharge youbefore that.", saying or ordering this she took a glance over her watch andleft the room without listening him. "Didshe said or ordered?", Arnav said looking at the nurse who only managed tosmile a little.

Rose day

They say that, a life with lovewill have some thorns, but a life without love will have no roses. There wereno roses in her life; she hated them too, as they were the symbol of love.

She entered her cabin which was all decorated with the roses, it reminded herthat how her father used to gift bunch of roses to her mother at every rose dayand then finally, the separation of forever. Her eyes were moist; roses werelike thorns in her eyes which were pinching her again and again. She left thecabin in haste with rage and scolded the peon hardly for forgetting to not keepthe flowers, specially the roses in her cabin. Her pitch was low but the wordswere harsh, which were scaring him. She made him sure to not repeat the mistake.But one person was witnessing the whole conversation between the peon and her,Arnav Singh Raizada, whose room was near the corridor, where she was scoldinghim.

Listening, all this the chirpy and fun loving Arnav was so amazed, he mutteredin his mind making the face of disbelief, "Kya ladki hai. How could a person hateflowers, Woh bhi roses! The symbol oflove. Unbelievable!!"

~~~~~~
Proposeday
Akash, anintern entered Arnav's room for checking his reports, his fell face wasscreaming that he was sad so sad, Arnav the keen observer observed it andquestioned about his sadness. At which he explained how in the morning Khushi,his senior, reunited his moment by scolding him when he was proposing hiscolleague, Payal. He emphasized her last line when she said, Stopall this Nonsense...Love has no existence. It's all Bullshit. Arnav's jawtouched the floor and eyes were popping out from their sockets like soccer indisbelief.
"I thought I'm the only prey. But noPeons, Interns all are on the target of her killer gussa", surprised Arnavsaid, "Don't you think she is soKhadoos", he said looking at Akash who nodded his head in no and replied, "No! She is super Khadoos. How could sheruined my moment and top of this, she said that Love is useless, in fact it hasno existence.", He shouted that too in a low voice so she couldn't listenwhile settling his hands on his waist. "Par 100Rs. Ka sawal to ye hai, that whydoes she hates love?", the dramatic Arnav. Akash settled down on the chairnext to his bed and whispered, "Woh! I've heard that - ", heenquired the room by looking here and there, "That's related to her personal life, -- please don't say it to anyone haan. Nahi to meri naukri to gayi",he request at which Arnav replied, "Arey don't worry I'm not going todiscuss it with anyone. But why did you stop, continue it na", the curious Arnav assured him and demanded for the wholestroy. "I don't Know, what the elsestory is.", he casually replied shrugging his shoulders and stood upnervously as he was facing towards the door. The over confident Arnav whoseback was facing the door started moving backward, "Ah! I can bet it's the fakestory spread by her, the truth is the one who hates love, is simply heartlessthat's it an"", he was about to continue but the same time he collidedwith someone who was on the door.
Two pairs of eyes was on him, he gulped down the fresh lump formed in histhroat when he came to know that he collided with no one else, but the girl towhom he named Heartless, Dr. Khushi Kumari Gupta, her eyes were moist butstill she was trying her best to hide the tears and pretended to be strong.Along with her, Dr.Lavanya Kashyap was also their and she was filled with rage
He tried to explain himself but she showed her palm in deny and ordered toAkash to get back on his duty at which he obeyed and she finally left the roomin haste first time in her career, without observing the patient'scondition.  Lavanya ran behind her andlooked him with anger for a second.
Chocolate Day
Arnav passed the whole propose day, night without blinking them, whenever hetried to sleep her eyes, filled with innocent and unanswered questions came infront of his eyes. His mind was tucked on her eyes, those chocolate orbs. Topass some time he started creating something on his paper with his pencil,whereas khushi passed it with memories, tears, and loneliness and yes the moon,and this way the whole night passed.
In the morning, the Sun rose withsweetness of chocolates and the chocolate day arrived. He was licking hisfingers stained with chocolate when his door knob twirled, the name firstlycame in his mind was her's, but he was wrong, it wasLavanya, a famous psychiatrist as well as best and the only friend of Khushi's,who always stood for her all in her good and bad.
She confusedly entered insideeven she didn't know why was she there, playing with her palms she tried, "Yes she hates love!", he picked his eyesup from the floor and settled down on her, "Use pyaar se nafrat karti hai islie woheartless nahin hai, uske pass dil hai islie wo pyar se nafrat karti hai", shespoke softly which forced Arnav to get confused even more, He creased his browsand looked at her with a question mark on his face. "Confused? haina. I knewit.", she asked raising the eyebrows and he nodded.
She started narrating and he was listening without interrupting first time inhis life. "For all of us, valentines'meaning is love, but for her it's the synonym of separation and loneliness.They both spend their life the way they wanted it, but she"she never lived herlife.", she sighed and turned her back on his face. His eyes filled withtears and were standing like an ideal of stone, whereas she kept continuingherself, "their"their ambition scoldeverything from her, and that nine year old girl is still believing that thelove was her culprit.".The pool of tears was rolling from his eyescontinuously but without blinking them he was listening to her who was also intears for her bestie Khush.
She finally turned his back towards him, "Usne Is Pyar Ko Sirf Ek hi naam diyahai---nafrat ka" and the fresh tears of regret started flowing from hiseyes which remained him soulless.
Khushi's mind was tucked on the last night, when he called her heartless,she was in a dilemma whether she was disturbed from this because it was theopinion about her or because he has made this opinion in her regards it waspinching her again and again. She came back to the cabin after checking somepatients' recovery. She settled down on her chair and rested her head down onthe table when a packet took her attention.
The packet was neatly wrapped with the turquoise sheet and knotted with agolden ribbon. She opened the packet thinking that who must be the sender. The packetunwrapped which was full of chocolates combining with other flavors, some werewith nuts, some were with coconut, some were with cherries and so on. She wasin mixed of emotions, expressions and feelings, anger, fear, hatred, confusionall were attacked simultaneously. She moved her fingers in the packet and founda note, she started reading
Dear Doctor,
" A great personality has saidthat Chocolate says "I'm sorry" so much better than words, And if I'mnot wrong you know who the great personality is. "
       - Your fool PATIENT
"Who else than you can say this, after all you are the mostgreat personality in the World", she murmured. And it forced her for nothingjust to curve her lips into a beautiful smile, which was witnessed by him, as he was hiding near the cabin's door. Hesighed with relief and a smile formed on his face with moist eyes. He wasrelaxed after knowing that somehow he has opened the door of her heart forlove, a little and the feeling to regret vanished for that moment.
Teddybear Day
She was flipping the day of calendar of her room, where wasstated, 10th February, A cute teddy day, along with apicture of a white teddy bear which reminded her that all it took to make her feel better was her teddybear in her alone childhood days. She caressed that picture and took her hand back,gulped and tip toed to the washroom for her routine life.
Arnav's pencil was moving on the paper, on which he was working since threedays, when she entered. She tried to see his art but he removed it from herreach which forced her lips to form in an O. She kept on trying to take aglance of it but he was even more stubborn then her, so finally she decided tonot look. She forcefully snatched his hand as he was busy in sketching andstarted removing the bandage and he asked curiously, "So how were the chocolates? Have you tasted them? How were they--",he started his chain of words but interrupted by her, "You've not discharged yet, then where the hell did you get them from",the strict Khushi asked in a loud and strict tone.
Arnav was confused by her question and thought, didn't she like it? If no thenwhy did she smile and if yes than why is in her well known anger. Hegathered the courage and spoke the nervous Arnav, "Were they not good?". "First tell me, chocolates kaha se ayi", Khushi asked in even more strict tone."A-actually, I asked A-akash to b-buythem", he innocently stuttered making a pouted mouth which forced her tosmile a little and he jumped in happiness, "Didyou like them?", she nodded her head positively and was about to leave theroom after bandaging his hand again when he called from behind, "Well I've something for you", he saidwith mischievous smile at which she creased her eyebrows in confusion, but it solvedwhen he indicated his index finger towards a drawer near his bed and she openedit.
The time she opened it, all her smile vanished when she found a white teddybear, with a heart on his chest engraved with two words, friends forever. Atinstant her eyes were twinkling with tears, as it was the first time whensomeone has done something special for her, that too was a stranger. She lookedat the teddy and then at him, he was smiling like a cute 7 year old, but frominside he was in dilemma, Will she accept it or shattered because ofme again, millions of questions were rising in his heart.
But finally she smiled nodded her head positively, when a tear drop rolled downfrom her eye to cheek and then finally destined to the floor. He came forward,wiped the tear from her cheek with his thumb and curved her lips into a sweetchildish and cute smile.
Promise Day
Khushi has changed a little, as she has found an anotherfriend in her life and she was so happy with this change, first time in her lifesomeone was trying to open the doors for her and welcoming her with open armsof love and happiness as a small but important part of her life. In thesefifteen years of loneliness and separation, she has promised only one thing toherself, to do not enter the word, love in her World. But she even wasunaware with the fact that someone was entering in her World, knowingly orunknowingly.
Sometimes people don't understand the promises they're makingwhen they make them, and ArShi were also not the exception. Their hearts hadsilently promised each other to love each other from the core, but they didn'teven realize it. They say that love is not noticed by us, others eyes identifythem. Someone was there who was noticing it, Lavanya. She was so happy with thechange she has seen in those two days in her friend after a long time. She wasrealizing that she was in love with him, but unsure about Arnav.
Lavanya was in a dilemma does he really love Khush , doeshe really a nice person or does he passing his time, as he was indeed astranger. She finally decided to talk Khushi, but she has not reachedthe hospital yet, first time in her career, she was late. She was the onlyperson who has seen khushi, struggling with all the good and bad. She was notin a mood to let her struggle again with the worst past. She didn't want thatthis time someone, just for his fun give her pain, not even a pinch.
She rushed inside the patient room no 14 which was, Arnav's. He was having hisbreakfast when her eyes reached at her. He welcomed her licking his fingers butshe warned in a loud voice, "Don't youeven dare to cheat her", at which he was confused so confused. "What are you talking about?", confusedArnav. "Don't try to be smart haan.", she pointed her index fingerat him, "sari galti meri hai why did I shared her secret with--", shewas going to complete herself but her hand touched to his sketchbook whichfelled down and she picked it up, when she noticed something. She one by oneflipped all the pages of the sketchbook and continued herself calmly, "yehto--", she didn't continue herself and took a sigh of satisfaction.
"I'msorry", she mouthed and apologetically bit her lower lip, and her eyeswere twinkling in satisfaction and left his room. But on the door she collidedwith someone, she took a glance over the face, it was hers. She kept looking ather face for umpteenth seconds and came to her senses when she tap on hershoulders and gesture her hand and brows with question what happen, at which shenodded negatively.
Lavanya was about to left to left when Khushi entered inside and askedstrictly, "Why didn't you finish yourbreakfast yet, Arnav?", herquestion forced Lavanya to turn as it was first time when he friend was callingsomeone with his first name, especially her patient. She smiled joyfully andheard again, "Promise me you will finishyour food prior to my arrival", it was again Khushi who was showing hereyes to him and her index finger was in her direction whereas he bowed down andspoke,  "johokum mere aqa", this was the first time when she was sharing such afriendly relationship with someone, the one who was a stranger few days prior.Even she has not shared such a relationship with her too, she was happy forher; no she was happy for them. She mouthed Thank you god!, Lookingat the sealing, and somehow he has entered promises in her life too.
Hug day
A sketchbook with some pencils was lying on the bed, alone when she tip toedinto Arnav's room; she picked it up curiously, to see what has he drew. Sheopened the cover page of sketchbook, it has numbers of white plain sheets butall seemed as spoiled, as they were crossed with the pencil and charcoal, shekept on flipping them and finally reached to the last few pages. She was aboutto glance his piece of art when a hand came towards the sketchbook and snatchedit away from her, which belonged to the artist, the Arnav Singh Raizada.
"Mr. Raiza--", Khushi was about toyell while trying to snatch the book when he interrupted her, "Its Arnav, A-R-N-A-V remember we arefriends now!", he emphasized each letter of his name and hung thesketchbook up in the air. She pouted stubbornly, "Argh! Fine Arnav...hand it over to me", andhighlighted his name. "Dou you reallywant it?", he asked calmly but his hand was still up in the air and he was standingon the bed. She nodded in a yes childishly and he stretched his hand in herdirection to offer the sketchbook. A victorious smile formed on her lips andshe was about to drag that sketchbook from his hand, the same time he jumpeddown and ran away along with the book. "SeeI'm your doctor haan. You have to obey my orders", she creased her browsand said gloomily while crossing her hands on the chest.
He smiled a little and forwarded his hand towards her but she turned her face,he forcefully took her in palm in his and kept the sketchbook on it. She smiledand flipped the pages of the sketchbook and reached to the end. A pair of bigdoe-shaped eyes was sketched beautifully on the paper, eyes which seemed veryfamiliar to her. The pain, loneliness, questions all were clearly visible on italong with love, although it was an art created on a piece of paper.
She was still confused and not able to recognize them she tried her best, buther mind was not with her. He looked at her expressions and came to know thatshe was unsuccessful to identify them. He held her shoulder from his one handas other one was injured terribly and turned her towards the mirror hung in theroom.
Her image fell on the mirror she rolled her eyes in to and fro motion in confusionand then finally realized that those beautiful almond shaped eyes drew on thepaper was no one else than hers. She turned her face her eyes were filled withtears, tears of happiness, love and not to be alone anymore, she loose hercontrol on her emotions and hid her head in his crook, in a hug. They restedlike that for a long time but came to their real World when her stethoscopefell down on the floor, and they blushed in crimson red.
Kiss Day
Arnav was feeling suffocated in his room, so he took thepermission of the senior doctor, Dr.Bakshi and reached the terrace, but someonewas already there, Khushi. She was looking, no staring at the moon intensely.He didn't see him as her back was facing him. He placed his hand on hershoulder to turn her around. She wasdressed up in a light blue saree, this was the first time when he saw her in asaree, she was looking beautiful would be in understatement, in the dim lightof the moon and umpteenth stars, she was looking breath taking. Eventhe moon can't compare her beauty, all he could thought. The storm wasforcing her to blink her eyes rapidly, but he was not in a mood to be defeatedby the storm, he didn't take his eyes from her, not even once, even he didn'twant it too.
 Her whole body wasshivering with the cold; she was shivering hardly still asked him, "What are you d-doing here? You aren'tallowed to be here?", in little loud tone as the trees were moving noisily.But he didn't answered the he was busy at staring her. She gave him a confuselook shrugged his shoulder, "I'm askingto y--", before she could say he shushed her and stepped forward, whereasshe took her step back. He kept on tip toeing forward and she kept on walkingbackward and finally she pinned to the wall.
She gulped the lump of nervousness, and the cold breeze struck her face, herhairs started flying due to the storm, which was increasing rapidly. Her lipsstarted shivering and her lips parted. His desire kept on increasing with everyshararatand gustakhi of storm. He cupped her face in his left palm, which madeher spine shiver, but this was not enough for him. He caressed her right cheekwith the back of his index and middle finger as well as thumb which forced herto close her eyes with a moan.
He cupped her face tightly and finally closed the doors for the differences oftheir lips and then untied the string of her blouse and was about to slide his handunder it but the same time two hands pushed him backward with a huge force. He wasconfused that who was it and then he realized it was her.
It seemed that it was the silence before the storm, "How dare you? Tumhari himmatkese hui mujhe--", she screamed as loud she could and then discontinuedher own statement. She was gasping when he placed his hand on her shoulder, "I'm s--", but she didn't allow him tocontinue and shrugged his hand roughly. "Don'tyou dare touch me? It was my fault--", the pool of tears formed in her eyesand kept rolling down her cheek, whereas he was also in tears and was just lookingher at disbelieve, "it w-was m-my fault.Why did I trust you? Why?", she kept on saying soullessly "Strangers are always stranger, Why did I believethat you aren't a stranger? Why", she knelt down and kept on crying. Hecame forward; a tear drop fell down from his eye and touched the floor, "at least lis--", but she interruptedin between, "Aj tumhari chocolates bhi tumhe mafi nahi dilwa sakti.", listeningthis he was about to go but stopped when she continued, "You named me as heartless, butyou, you have a heart, you have all filled with hypocrisy, lies and artificiality.I hate you Mr. Raizada. I hat--", before she could complete herself hetook the charge.
"You are right. I'm not the one tobeloved. I'm a hypocrite; a liar and what did you said--", he pretended to recognize, "yes, The one who has an artificial heart.",he shook his head whereas his words force her to stood, "but do you know Dr. Gupta, Who owes theartificial heart", he emphasized his last two words, when she turned toface him, "Don't you?", he cocked hisbrows, "hmm! The one who don't want to accept the present. The one who may bealone or might pretended to be. Right Dr.Gupta" he asked or else statedbut she was stunned with his statement as someone has sealed her lips.
"Just look at that moon...tumhari nazar sedekhu to, he is alone in the dark sky, parmujse agar poocho, he is filled with brightness and beauty, he is the oneand only companion of million stars.", hesaid softly and looked at her eyes, those chocolate orbs filled with tears. "What do you think Dr. Gupta, the wholeworld is going to betray you alike them?", he said in a single breath andkept continuing himself, "prior I thought that you are the one whoneed accompaniment, but now I've realized, the all you need is compassion, that'sit.".
The pool of fresh tears kept flowing from her doe shaped beautiful eyes but hekept on saying, "tumhe kya lagta hai tum is duniya mein akeli ho jise kisi ka sath nahimila?. If you then I should clarify that you are not Dr. khushi kumari Gupta. Youare not.", he screamed. His eyes showering water on his cheeks but hekept on. "Don't you believe na! chalo let me tell you a short story,I hope then you will believe.", he said softly.
And he lost himself in the story, "once upon a time, a 7 year old was supposeto go for the celebration of a marriage, someone's day of love. His parentswere forcing him to go with them, but he being a stubborn chubby playful boydenied, and the parents left him with his nanny. He spend the time in all hismasti, and the way few hours passed, even the day passed and the nanny laid himdown to sleep peacefully. The nanny was worried as his parents were not athome, night passed too. And--", but she interjected and asked, "Did they come"
He shook his head disbelievingly, "You'veno right to be impatient while listening my story", he chuckled also in suchan unfavorable condition, "So where wasi..yes..In the morning the door bellrang, he ran to open the door to welcome his parents, and they entered",she took a sigh of relief but he shook his head again and a fresh tear fell onhis cheek, "yes they entered..All covered with a shroud".
She closed her eyes apologetically and opened them when he asked, "Aren't wanted to know who the boy was?"atwhich she nodded positively. He smiled a little and left after saying just fourword, "I"Arnav Singh Raizada."
Fresh tears kept on flowing from her eyes and she remained there like a stone.
The Valentine's Day
Arnav has receivedhis discharge papers from Dr. Bakshi as he didn't want to leave the hospitalafter seeing her, that too for the last time. He dressed in his own clothes,met Akash, Payal, Lavanya and the whole staff of the hospital who took hiscare. All were unaware with their conversation of last night.
he was on the exit of the hospital when a sweetest voice reached his ears, "you're forgetting something.", heturned around and found her holding his sketchbook. He looked at her withintense and deep love as he knew he was seeing her last time. "Don't you dare look me like that haan. I stillhate you", she warned pointing her finger. "Excuse me!", he disbelievinglysaid and look here and there as they were crowded with millions of people. "I was right. Kitne ajeeb ho tum,", she looked at him from head to toe withamusement.
And finally said softly, "pehle zindgi jeena sikhate ho, or fir doorjake zindgi hi le jate ho.", her eyes were moist but he was stillconfused as always, "oho buddhuraam!", she hid her face in her palms and thenremoved, "mere bed no. 14 you have just sketched my eyes on a paper, but I, I'min love with yours.", she smiled in tears. "Youwere right. I was the one who has covered itself in a shell. It was my mistake.",she confessed finally.
"Jab jo bura kaha, uska koi matlab nahi.
Jab jobura kiya, uska koi matlab nahi. Isspyaar mein sahi aur galat ka koi matlab nahin. Bas ek cheez ka matlab hai, kime, hamesha, hamesha tumse?", and her face inlaidwith tears when he placed his hand on her lips to shush and engulfed her in atight hug.
