Thank you everyone for all the likes and comments on the last moment.
I've written two new moments, (I'll post the other one tomorrow, let that be a Sunday read.) so getting reading.
Home is where the heart is
Prerna calls to let her mother know she’d been shortlisted for business personality of the year back home. Veena who longed to have her daughter visit was over the moon. Both proud of her achievement and what this could mean.
“Ab toh tu ghar aasakti hai na beta?” (“That means you can visit right) asks her mother.
Prerna holds her heart steady she’d been nominated she hadnt yet won. She avoided answering before she had Mr Bajaj’s approval.
“I Miss you ma” she said with teary eyes.
“Miss you too beta” replied her mother.
Prerna wiped her eyes when she saw Rishabh had walked into the room.
“Ma mein baad mein baat karti hoon.”
“I hope those are tears of joy” he said as he looked at Prerna sat on the edge of the bed with her confirmation of nomination letter to hand. She looked on at him with a brave smile.
“You didn’t have to put the phone down on my account” he said as he joined her side.
He took her hand in his and held it tight.
,I’m proud of you” he's said referring to how far she'd come both personally and professionally.
Prerna took it in her stride. He had always been generous with his compliments.
"Aap ke bina nahin kar paati " (“I couldn’t have done it without you”)
“Oh I don’t know about that” he said softly. Later looking on at her concerned that he'd been too harsh on her for too long one one matter in particular.
“You should go collect your award in person, Spend time with your mother.. You’re ready..”
Prerna looked towards him at first not sure what to say.
“Will you come with me?” She asked keen to have him by her side.
“I’ve got some things I have to take care of here.” He explained.
...
One more call from Prerna he thought and this time at his desk.
“Yes Mrs Bajaj” he took the call without even having to check who it was.”
Mehra who was sat in the corner of his office took note amused.
“I Just remembered don’t forget Kukis non uniform day---.” said Prerna from her seat on the plane that was about to take of in the new few minutes.
“On Friday yes I know” he quickly made clear she’d already mentioned it once. “Have a safe flight Prerna” he said focusing on his paperwork.
When Rishabh looked up from his paperwork he could see the remains of tiny grin on Mehra’s face he chose to ignore it.
"What do you want to about Anurag Basu" asked Mehra getting to business.
RB sat back in his chair.. his eyes deepening in thought.
“Lets not do anything” He said to Mehra’s surprise.
“And lets make sure no other business deals with him either."
“Blacklist him?” Asks Mehra
Rishabh nods in agreement. Banishment from business would teach Mr Basu Manners.
...
It was awfully strange without Prerna, George served two plates of shapes in tomato pasta because that’s what Kuki had asked for. Rishabh quietly wondered where Prerna would be and what she’d be doing.
Kuki noticing that her Pa hadn’t had anything much to eat trundles off her chair to climb his lap. Take a peace of pasta with his fork and draws it to his lips.
Realising his 6 year old was feeding him and not the other way around Rishabh smiles " come on then let’s see who can eat the most!" He smiles still thinking a little bit about his wife even now.
...
Thinking of him was probably not what she ought to be doing but as Prerna waited cross-legged on the floor for her head massage from her mother just like old times she found her self thinking about what Mr Bajaj would be doing right now.
Her mother disturbing her daze
"Kush lag rain hai Priyu, bohot Khush"(“You look happy Priu very happy”)
“Why are you surprised?” she says looking up at her mother.
“Because you've always had it difficult and to be honest I've always thought Mr Bajaj was a bit .: “ Veena couldn’t find the right word ..
“Bit of a tyrant yahi na” Her daughter had finished off the sentence but Veena didn’t approve of the choice of word and tapped her over the head lightly for talking about her husband like that.
“You and the rest of the world ma but he’s far from it.” She said smiling.
