Actress and content creator Shirin Sewani has seen the entertainment landscape shift dramatically over the years—and she has evolved right alongside it. Having made a mark in shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Naagin 2, as well as web series like Taj Mahal 1989, Beauty Spot, Dev DD, and Only for Singles, Shirin transitioned into digital storytelling, where she found a fresh platform to express herself and connect with audiences. Now a new mom, she reflects on how motherhood, creativity, and the changing face of content have influenced her journey and future plans
“Life after becoming a mom has been the most beautiful transformation,” Shirin shares. “It’s a role that teaches you patience, unconditional love, and strength in ways nothing else can. It’s changed me emotionally and spiritually, and I know that will reflect in how I approach my roles going forward.”
While television continues to hold a special place in her heart, Shirin has found a new kind of fulfillment in content creation. “Being a content creator gives me freedom—to be myself, to tell stories that are personal, funny, emotional, or even experimental. I can be the writer, director, actor—all in one frame. It’s very empowering,” she explains.

However, she’s also keenly aware of how content has evolved in today’s fast-paced digital world. “The landscape of content has changed drastically. There’s a lot more variety, yes—but also a lot of pressure to constantly stay relevant. The algorithm doesn’t wait for anyone. Sometimes, creativity gets compromised for virality. That’s why I try to strike a balance—creating content that’s both meaningful and entertaining.”
Despite her love for digital storytelling, Shirin hasn’t ruled out returning to television. “I’m definitely planning to come back if an exciting opportunity or a great script comes my way. I believe in choosing projects that truly resonate with me and connect with the audience. If the right one comes along, I’ll be back for sure.”
When it comes to the kind of work she wants to do, Shirin is clear: “I’m drawn to roles with depth and emotional arcs. Performances like Alia Bhatt in Raazi or Fatima Sana Shaikh in Dangal really move me. It gave the actor such a wide range to play with. I want to do work that challenges me and lets me grow as an artist.”
