Cinematographer Pratik Shah is facing renewed scrutiny after filmmaker Abhinav Singh took to Instagram with allegations pointing to emotional abuse and misconduct. In his post, Singh described Shah as “highly manipulative,” “emotionally abusive,” and referred to him as a “predator.”

As shared by News 18 India, following this, an old blog post from 2015 began gaining traction online. The blog, authored anonymously, doesn’t name Shah directly, but the context and timing have led many to associate it with him. The writer, identifying herself as his former girlfriend, explained her decision to revisit the post by saying, “people need to know the truth.”

She reflected on the early phase of their relationship, describing how she was initially attracted to his quiet nature. She recalled how things felt good in the beginning — she felt cared for and emotionally connected. But she said the relationship changed as control and emotional pressure began to appear.

“One of the first red flags,” she recalled, was how he reacted when she went out without informing him. She described how he later demanded access to her personal accounts:
"That summer, he asked me for my Gmail and Facebook passwords, and in return gave me his. I remember the rage that flew through him when he saw that I had flirted with a guy over Facebook in one conversation, or 'poked' a guy friend on social media. I remember him screaming in my face that he would kill himself. I felt so horrible. Like I didn’t deserve him. In the next year, he would repeat the line, 'Most guys would have left after what you did, but I didn’t.'"

The writer also claimed she later learned about his affair with a mutual friend. When she confronted him, she said he reacted violently:
"I should've reported it then, when the neighbours called the police. I didn’t. But what was by far the worst was his inability to understand the concept of 'No.'"

She reflected on his attitude toward boundaries, writing, "He didn’t grow up in a home where the word 'no' held any real weight, and for him, 'no' meant nothing."

She went on to describe an incident during her birthday weekend. She wrote that he was heavily intoxicated, and while she excused herself to use the bathroom, he followed her inside without her knowing.
"Never, in a million years, would I have thought I would be a 'survivor of abuse.' Never would I have thought he was 'that type of guy.' I remember thinking back on the situation months later and saying to myself, 'That would have been considered rape if he wasn’t my boyfriend.'"

It all began when Filmmaker Abhinav Singh initially shared a message on Instagram, advising women in his network to be cautious around a particular cinematographer. He also offered to provide more information privately to anyone who reached out. In a follow-up post, he revealed the scale of the responses he received: ''The number of women who’ve reached out to me is honestly frightening. I feel like I’m having a Margot Robbie moment from Bombshell. I will not be silenced. And to those who are still employing him – fk you. His name is Pratik Shah. He’s a cinematographer.”

As of now, Pratik Shah has not responded publicly to any of the claims. The matter remains unresolved.
