Why was Sudhanshu Pandey taking MEDICATIONS 'sometimes' during stint on Anupamaa? Actor says: 'Gone so deeply'

Actor Sudhanshu Pandey has been part of the Indian entertainment industry for over two decades. He is known for his work across television, films, and music. One of his most recognised roles was that of Vanraj Shah in the popular TV show Anupamaa, a character that gained widespread attention for its layered and emotionally intense nature.

Recently, Sudhanshu spoke about the emotional challenges he faced while portraying intense roles, particularly during his time on Anupamaa. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, he opened up about how deeply he was impacted by the character of Vanraj. He said that it was difficult to immediately return to normal life after shooting certain emotionally heavy scenes.

"I have touched upon certain spaces where it’s been hard for me to get back to normal on an immediate basis. It takes a little time, maybe a few days sometimes. That’s why, in Hollywood, you hear of actors like Dustin Hoffman who played certain characters and had to go to rehab for a few months afterwards. So yeah, you’ve got to be willing to take that risk, you know? And for an actor, I think, You need to know where to draw the line when you’re playing a certain character," he shared.

Sudhanshu described himself as someone who is generally well balanced but admitted that the role still had a strong emotional impact on him. He said that during Anupamaa, he often had to access darker emotions, which affected him physically and mentally.

"I’ve even had to take medication for pain and aches sometimes, because I’ve gone so deeply into the character. But that’s just how I am as an actor. I don’t care whether it’s television or OTT, I give my 100% to everything I play," he said.
