What should be the Punishment for a crime like Rape?

As the recent rape occurred in Uber Cab has caused a stir among the public raising the concerns over women security, we speak to actors to know what punishment should be given to the accused and what can be done to curb such heinous crime.

Utkarsha Naik currently seen as Amba in Colors' Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi says -

Punishment is not solution for this crime because the person who is committing this crime is not in his senses. It's a psychological problem where a person who is committing this crime himself is not aware what a disaster he is doing and so is also not bothered about the punishment. Rapist himself is a victim, how? He is a social victim because its more of the mentality. When a boy is born, he sees that being a boy he is superior and girls are made to serve them, thus the roots lay on their upbringing. Another reason for the increase in the rate of this crime is lack of education. I am not saying that such criminals should not be given punishment, I think death is the ultimate punishment for them. But that will not eradicate the crime, the only solution is the awareness and the education.

Manish Wadhwa currently seen as Niranjan in Star Plus' Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon... Ek Baar Phir says -

I am always speechless when I hear such cases that too in a country like India where women are given the status of Goddess. I think strict and immediate action should be taken so that no one dares to do such thing.

Siddharth Shukla currently seen as Shiv in Colors' Balika Vadhu says -

Siddharth Shukla, currently seen in Color's Balika Vadhu, I think these rapists should be given the stupidest punishment. These people should think 100 times before committing a crime like this.

Deepshikha Nagpal last seen as one of the contestants in Colors' Bigg Boss 8 says -

The only punishment I feel is kill the attacker. As this is the only thing that can make people scare. Imprisonment is something that people are not really scared of as they get release in short span of time that is set for attempting such crime. Then there is influence which helps them to get out of jail easily. The only punishment according to me is death for terrorist and rapist that will make others scare and make them think 10 times before attempting such a shameful act.
