Vivian Dsena: When they see you daily, audiences form a special bond with the actors and the shows

Vivian Dsena has been away from the screens for a while now and was last seen in Shakti...Astitiva Ke Ehsaas Kii. The actor believes that the pandemic has helped people learn a lot of things, compassion and being health conscious included. Meanwhile, he believes it has helped people understand their true friends and well-wishers. He feels that social distancing should be followed not just to save ourselves from the virus, but also from those who don't mean well.  

On the changes that he has seen in the industry over the years, he continues, “TV is growing in different directions. It’s not about saas-bahu anymore. They are experimenting with new genres, stories and also exploring different concepts and presentations. OTT can’t be compared with TV because it comes in seasons, while TV is for daily viewing, hence these daily soaps. The audience is completely different, so is the reach. Yes a lot of people have smartphones these days, but more people have TV that came much before mobile phones. Television connects to its audience on a daily basis, for some the medium is a part of their daily regime. People who like to watch daily soaps schedule their day accordingly and with new concepts being explored, they are enjoying watching TV all the more.”

Unlike what seems to be the majority perception, he thinks that people love watching TV even now and he feels that it is wonderful to work in the medium as it helps you get closer to the masses. 

He said that people across different strata of the society watch television and hence, they see an actor daily, there's a bond they develop with the show as well as the actors. He feels that being recognized and loved by people from all walks of life is a different feeling altogether. He added how he is recognised by everyone, right from those working on the streets, or a rickshaw puller, or even someone at the medical store, much like those who step out of big cars, etc, and this is the connection that makes working in TV worthwhile and that is the real award. He concluded by saying how it is gratifying to have touched so many hearts through his work.
