Vishal Aaditya Singh - “Since last 2-3 years, I was waiting to do a love story"

Colors' new show, ‘Chand Jalne Laga’ stars Vishal Aaditya Singh and Kanika Mann as Dev and Tara, respectively. The story outlines the extraordinary journey of two childhood sweethearts, who once were each other’s sanctuary, but the cruel hand of fate pulls them apart. As the age-old wisdom goes, 'Love is the fire that kindles the heart,' 'Chand Jalne Laga' is that blazing fire, promising to be the most passionate love story of the year. Produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Swastik Productions, ‘Vishal Aaditya Singh talks about his character, his preparation and his equation with Kanika Mann.

1. Tell us something about the show, ‘Chand Jalne Laga’.

Chand Jalne Laga is a beautiful saga of love. It is a story of meeting and parting of two childhood sweethearts, Dev and Tara, whose destinies take unexpected turns, separating them only to bring them back together amidst new challenges. They coexist in a state of togetherness and separation. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque vineyard, this heartwarming narrative beautifully captures the evolution of their characters and the complexities of their relationship. With its rich storytelling and compelling character arcs, Chand Jalne Laga promises to take audiences on an emotional journey of rediscovering lost love. I am essaying the role of Dev. 2. Tell us about your character in the show.

I will be seen essaying the character of Dev, a self-made and determined man. He is a kind-hearted man, but sometimes the circumstances make him do things against his heart.  He has a unique gift of understanding horses and works as a stable boy for a wealthy Zamindar family. As a kid, he not only helps Tara conquer her fears but also imparts valuable life lessons to her. However, a misunderstanding creates a rift between them. Dev's life takes a dramatic turn as a grown-up who makes a lot of money. His sole purpose is to make Tara suffer. He holds her accountable for taking away his optimism and joyous spirit. 

3. How did you prepare for this role? How different is it from the roles you played earlier?

For me, it is important to get into the skin of the character first. For Dev’s character, I experimented with a lot of things. To get into the intensity and depth of Dev’s character, I often sat for long hours alone on my balcony and stared at the plain sky. It helped me develop the loneliness Dev has in him and made me feel connected to him. Dev’s character is so calculative, considering his balanced, limited display of emotions, which makes it very difficult for me to play this role sometimes, and this is what makes this role stand out.  I really hope that the audience appreciates my efforts and portrayal of Dev. 

4. The show's teaser has generated a lot of excitement. What was your reaction to seeing all the appreciation?

The response to the show's teaser has been heartwarming. It feels great to witness this kind of excitement for the show. I believe after a long time, the audience will see a passionate love story that will be enjoyed by every age group. Talking about the teaser, I feel that music speaks where words fail. To have the audience respond so wonderfully to our musical promo was uplifting and rewarding. The extravagant visuals had the desired impact and left the viewers eagerly waiting for the show’s premiere. It's truly gratifying to see that the glimpses of the show have struck a chord with the viewers. I cannot wait for the audience to experience this fairytale romance.

5. What made you say yes to the show?

The moment I read the script of Chand Jalne Laga, I was taken aback. I could have never imagined that such an exceptional opportunity would come my way. For the last 2-3 years, I have been waiting to do a love story, and that was ‘Chand Jalne Laga’ for me. It's an extraordinary tale of romance, drama, revenge, and friendship. The character of Dev fascinated me right from the beginning. The intensity and emotional layers of the role presented a challenge that I, as an actor, found very compelling. I took it as a chance for me to showcase my versatility. This project spoke to my heart, and I couldn't resist saying yes to it. 

6. How is your equation with your co-star, Kanika Maan? 

Working with Kanika Maan has been a delightful experience. She's an incredibly talented co-actor, and our professional partnership has been nothing short of fantastic. Our rapport translates wonderfully onscreen, and it’s this chemistry that the viewers have appreciated in the teaser of the show. We have this natural synergy, and we inspire each other to do better. It makes the entire process of enlivening a show fulfilling. I truly hope viewers will love our on-screen chemistry.

7.Lastly, what would you like to say to your fans and the viewers eagerly awaiting your presence in ‘Chand Jalne Laga’?

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the fans for their support. I am excited for them to experience the show and watch my portrayal of Dev. I sincerely hope that they will be enthralled by Dev and Tara and resonate with their love story. Get ready for a whirlwind of love and passion!
