Vikrant Massey reveals whether he has stepped away from OTT projects

Vikrant Massey caused quite a buzz recently when he hinted at retirement, but he later clarified the situation for his fans. Following the success of 12th Fail, Vikrant has become quite a name in the industry. Initially venturing into the realm of OTT platforms and then transitioning to the big screen, he recently mentioned that although he hasn't abandoned OTT projects, he is patiently waiting for the ideal script to mark his comeback.

In a chat with ETimes, Vikrant Massey spilled the beans on his views regarding OTT projects, "I haven’t stopped doing OTT projects, but I’m waiting for the right script to make a comeback. If the script is good, I will do that project irrespective of the medium."

The actor, celebrated for his performance in 12th Fail, looks back on the admiration he received for the movie and how it heightened fan expectations for his upcoming projects. However, his encounter with The Sabarmati Report acted as a wake-up call.

Despite the praise garnered for 12th Fail and Sector 36, he faced backlash and even harassment for his role in The Sabarmati Report, highlighting how swiftly audience reactions can change without truly grasping the character.

Vikrant also opened up about handling trolls as an integral part of his profession. While he brushes off anonymous social media remarks, he admits it's disheartening when these trolls target his family and loved ones. Nevertheless, he remains committed to portraying stories he deeply believes in.

The Sabarmati Report star has consistently opted for unconventional roles in his career, spanning from A Death In The Gunj and Haseen Dillruba to Gaslight and popular OTT series like Mirzapur and Broken But Beautiful. Reflecting on his journey, he elaborates on the blend of conscious decisions and the projects that come his way.

In the early days, he accepted any roles that crossed his path, gravitating towards unconventional characters even during his television stint. Gradually, it evolved into a deliberate choice to pursue such roles, as he believes they align with his purpose.

Vikrant stresses the importance of selecting projects with enduring significance, whether they are mainstream films or those with profound messages. Inspired by his father's appreciation for movies from decades ago, he aims to contribute to films that future generations will value and cherish.

Moreover, Vikrant shares his reflections on fatherhood, describing it as the most rewarding role of his life. He expresses gratitude for the experience, highlighting how his son Vardaan has enriched his life and made him a better individual.
