Vikram, headlined by Kamal Haasan, will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from July 8

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram opened in theatres across the globe on June 3 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Disney+ Hotstar shared the digital release announcement of the film on Instagram Wednesday.

Kamal invented a spy persona for his 1986 action film called Vikram, from which Vikram was derived. The former RAW agent is brought out of retirement in the newest film by director Lokesh Kanagaraj to combat the burgeoning drug epidemic in India. In later films, Lokesh will widen Vikram's world.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie opened in theatres across the globe on June 3 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Disney+ Hotstar shared the digital release announcement of the film on Instagram Wednesday.

Vikram has raked in Rs 290 crore thus far in India alone, claims Cinetrak. On June 3 in south India, the film received a lot of excitement before opening to full theatres and rave reviews from both reviewers and viewers. The movie reportedly made more than 172 crore rupees in Tamil Nadu, 39 crore rupees in Kerala, 38 crore rupees in the Telugu states, over 24 crore rupees in Karnataka, and 16.5 crore rupees in the Hindi belt.

Also starring Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, "Vikram" has reportedly raised over Rs 400 crore gross in box office collection. Haasan has backed the movie through his production banner Raaj Kamal Films International.

Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Antony Varghese and Arjun Das also round out the cast of "Vikram", along with Suriya in a cameo.
