Vikas Kumar's stint in Sony TV's Khhotey Sikkey had made a section of fans go crazy for him. And here comes a buzz for the dedicated fans of the talented guy. The latest we hear about Vikas is that his independent digital film called Handover has been selected for the International Film Festival to be held in Ahmedabad.

Talking about his role in the movie a source informs, "Vikas will play the male protagonist in 'Handover', directed by Saurabh Kumar. It's an achievement for this small movie to have been selected in the competition section of International Film Festival at Ahmedabad,
alongside some biggies like Anurag Kashyap's 'That Girl In Yellow Boots' and Santosh Sivan's 'Urumi'."

'Handover' deals with a poignant plot of a mother selling her child due to poverty. Vikas plays a local government official who is assigned to investigate the matter. The movie was shot mostly in and around Biharsharif, a small town in Bihar.

When contacted Vikas he shared his thoughts with TellyBuzz. "Sometimes, adversity brings out the best in us. Handover was shot on a very tight budget and we had to take services from locals in the form of additional cast and crew. For most of us, the film was a first. The fact that the film got completed, and has shaped up well, and has now been selected at the International Film Festival Ahmedabad, obviously makes us very happy."

"Personally, Handover will always remain special to me. Firstly, the film deals with 'selling one's child', which unfortunately, is a reality, but at times, the reason behind the selling can be absolutely shocking! Secondly, while shooting, I got to interact with, and learn from some very talented cast and crew, most of whom were either students at FTII or recent pass-outs. In fact, I was probably the most inexperienced. And last but not the least, the film was shot in my
home town, and is the only documented feature I'm aware of, that uses the Magadhi dialect, my mother tongue," he adds further

"With short films and independent films, all one can hope for is a maximum audience. Likewise, for Handover, I wish that t gets seen by many people, and that they enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it, "signs off Vikas.

That's another great effort by Vikas towards society…
