Vijay Varma and Triptii Dimri’s Spy Thriller Afghan Snow to Undergo Re-Editing Before Netflix Release - REPORT

Netflix India has unveiled an exciting lineup of upcoming projects, including Nadaaniyan featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, along with Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*. However, one highly anticipated project was missing from the list—Triptii Dimri and Vijay Varma’s spy thriller, Afghan Snow. According to reports, the series is now set for a re-edit before making its way to Netflix.

Produced by Karnesh Sharma’s Clean Slate Filmz, Afghan Snow was reportedly delivered to Netflix in December 2023. However, as per a Mid-day report, the streaming giant has now taken full control of the project. Directed by Anshai Lal, the series is likely to go through a re-edit, with Netflix even considering reshooting certain scenes to enhance the final product.

An actor from the show revealed, "Afghan Snow has been given to Netflix, and the team is contemplating re-editing the show and even shooting additional parts as they deem fit. I’m told it will release later this year. Many titles will be added to the streamer’s slate beyond the ones announced on Monday."

The report also pointed out some behind-the-scenes issues, including creative disagreements between the makers and Netflix after the series was completed. Additionally, production crew members faced payment delays, with some only receiving their dues after much follow-up. Others are still awaiting their final payments, which are expected to be cleared upon the show’s release.

In the midst of these developments, Clean Slate Filmz has reportedly been facing a period of uncertainty for over a year. Industry insiders suggest that the production house has been nearly defunct but is expected to relaunch soon under a new name. Meanwhile, writer Sudip Sharma has announced that the second season of Afghan Snow is in the works, hinting at an expanded storyline for the spy thriller. Fans can now look forward to a refined version of the series when it finally lands on Netflix later this year.
