Netizens discussed how Indian X (formerly Twitter) was all about Rohit Sharma, Ritika, Paid PR and so on this weekend. As we know, Rohit Sharma decided to opt out of the Sydney Test due to poor form. This was blamed by his fans on Indian coach Gautam Gambhir who got slammed on social media. A news report of the alleged cold war between the two did not help matters. Yesterday, Bollywood celebs like Farhan Akhtar, Varun Dhawan and Vidya Balan put up posts lauding Rohit Sharma and his contribution to Indian cricket. The actress got trolled as fans noticed that she put up a post that was a copy paste text of what Rohit Sharma’s PR team had sent out.

They drew conclusions on how Vidya Balan was close to Bunty Sajdeh, who is the founder of Cornerstone, and cousin of Ritika Sajdeh. Now, Vidya Balan’s team has sent out a reply denying that the actress’ post was PR for the Indian captain. It also addressed the gossip that she was not much into cricket. Old interviews where she said that Sachin Tendulkar was her fave player was also raked up on social media.

The spokesperson of the actress sent out a note that read: “Let it be unequivocally stated that Ms. Balan posted this completely of her own volition because she was moved by his selfless act, and NOT by request from his PR team. Ms. Balan is not an avid sports fan, but she is a fan of those who show dignity and class under trying circumstances. To attribute her actions to anything other than a spontaneous reaction to something she found admirable is completely preposterous.”

Let it be unequivocally stated that Ms. Balan posted this completely of her own volition because she was moved by his selfless act, and NOT by request from his PR team.

Traditionalists are shocked at how PR is employed even in the world of sports of late. Rohit Sharma fans slammed Gambhir saying that even Virat Kohli should have been dropped if the issue was only that of poor form.
