As we already know, Varun Dhawan would be headlining the Indian adaptation of the science fiction series Citadel. The show's creators, the Russo Brothers, published the first image of Varun's character on social media in addition to the news that filming will start in January 2023, a few days ago.

Today, Varun took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture of himself from the sets as he begun filming for the show. In the selfie, Varun is seen with a bleeding nose and dirt on his face. It looked like he had shot for a rough action sequence. He captioned the picture as, "It's been a ruff night. Day 3. India Citadel".

In the first poster, which announced Citadel's lead as Varun, he was seen gazing intently into the camera while wearing a black T-shirt and a brown jacket. The Taj Mahal hotel and the Mumbai coastline could be seen in the distance.

In a statement announcing his web series debut, Varun had exclaimed that, to be part of this great universe, conceptualised by the Russo Brothers' AGBO and Jennifer Salke, is a landmark moment in his career. Citadel is an extraordinarily ambitious and intriguing franchise. He has always admired their work, so he is ecstatic to be a part of this project and can't wait to start filming.

Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, will debut on Prime Video soon. The sci-fi spy thriller was made by the Russo Brothers, and it will have other spinoffs in different nations, Citadel India being one of them. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who collaborated with Raj and DK on The Family Man, reportedly also has a role in the Indian show.
