Seasoned actor Ajay Singh Chaudhary, known for his versatility, recently joined Rahul Kumar Tewary’s hit show Udne Ki Aasha. Ajay appeared in a very unusual look for his character—something completely different from what he had done in the past.

Speaking about his role as Ranjit, he shared, “Look-wise, this one was quite different. In fact, it was a bit challenging too. For the first time, I played a character who uses Mumbai’s local dialect—the ‘tapori’ kind of language. That was new for me and definitely a challenge. The character had a very simple appearance—normal shirt and pants, glasses, slightly messy hair. I even put on a bit of weight to make it more real. I didn’t get much time to prepare, but I truly enjoyed the process.”

He added, “I never believed in looking the same in every role. I’ve always tried, within the scope of television, to make each character visually distinct. Because when a character changes, their entire personality, body language, and appearance should change too. So this time as well, I worked closely with the creative head and discussed it with Rahul Tewary sir, and we decided to keep it minimal and grounded. That was actually the beauty of this character—he was someone who had gone through a lot in life, someone with a painful past who reconnects with a childhood friend. We wanted the look to reflect that.”

Ajay, who had already spent several years in the industry, mentioned that he strongly believed in contributing his own inputs to every role.

“I always gave my 100% to every character I played. I come from a theatre background—I completed my Master’s in Theatre from Mumbai University—so we were taught that the actor should disappear, and only the character should be visible. The audience shouldn’t see ‘you’; they should only see the role. That’s always been my goal,” he said.

When asked about his rapport with co-actors on set, Ajay shared, “It was really good. I gelled with everyone very quickly. Most of my scenes were with Kanwar Dhillon, and he’s a genuinely nice guy. We had some great conversations and became friends almost instantly. He was very focused, sincere, and had a strong sense of determination. The energy on set was very positive.”

“I’ve worked on big shows before—like Uttaran, Phulwa, Naath, Ghum Hai Kisike Pyaar Mein, and now Udne Ki Aasha. One thing I’ve always noticed is that the environment on set has been full of positivity. Everyone is so dedicated and hardworking that you don’t even realize how the day passes by. I loved that about this team and was genuinely glad to be a part of the show. I looked forward to doing some great quality work here,” he concluded.
