Triptii Dimri roped in for Parveen Babi biopic; netizens say, 'Let the woman rest in peace'

Yesteryear actress Parveen Babi’s life has fascinated many filmmakers. It seems a new project will be made for Netflix and Triptii Dimri has been roped in as the leading lady. The director is going to be Shonali Bose, as per Filmfare. In the past, she has made films like Amu, Margarita With A Straw and The Sky Is Pink. It seems the project was being discussed for a long time. Triptii Dimri has already done projects for Netflix like Bulbbul and Qala. She won immense appreciation for both of them made under Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Films. This will the first biopic for her.

The life of Parveen Babi has already been made twice on celluloid. We had the movie Woh Lamhe starring Kangana Ranaut and Shiney Ahuja. It came out in 2005 and had some great songs. Later, we saw Ranjish Hi Sahi with Amala Paul and Tahir Raj Bhasin in lead roles. Pushpdeep Bharadwaj was the director of the same. Moreover, Mahesh Bhatt’s 1982 movie Arth was also inspired from his real life situation where he left his wife for Parveen Babi. Netizens feel that enough has been known about the late actress from the POV of Mahesh Bhatt, and now she should be left alone.

Triptii Dimri has been roped in with Shahid Kapoor for Vishal Bharadwaj’s film. She is also doing a Imtiaz Ali movie with Fahadh Faasil. Parveen Babi, a Gujarati Pathan was born in an affluent family of Junagadh in Gujarat. She did her studies from Ahmedabad and began to work as a model in 1972.
