Television shows have to abide by a certain sense of censorship while showcasing sensitive or intimate content. However, things seem to be changing off late. While the television show makers are slowly but steadily experimenting with bold content (liplocks), web series are making the most of the freedom that they have.
And one such example is Vikram Bhatt's ongoing web series on the Viu app - Spotlight. Spotlight centres around two successful Bollywood stars, Sana Sanyal and Romesh Raj played by Tridha Choudhary and Sid Makkar respectively.
Sid and Tridha's characters Sana and Romesh are seen to be indulging in an affair and both the actors have shot for some hot and steamy intimate scenes together.
Speaking about his intimate scenes with co-star Tridha Chowdhary, Sid said, "I don't believe in censorship for adults. Especially with the internet boom and all kinds of accessibility, it just doesn't make sense. It's pass. As far as 'bold scenes', it's a relative term. I didn't think kissing on screen is 'bold'. I get that it may be bold for many, but not for me personally. If I commit to a part, then 'whatever it takes' is my mantra."
When we put forth the same question to Tridha, she had a very interesting take on it. She said, "Honestly, Intimacy' depends on the director's perspective. It does not require shedding of clothes. In fact, if you see Spotlight, you'll realize that there was no nudity or even physicality in the show. I had also discussed our scenes with Sid, and our scenes do not look sleazy at all."
