Amidst rumors of lead actors Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta potentially leaving, India's longest-running sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), is stirring discussions. Former actress Nidhi Bhanushali, who played Sonu Bhide, recently shared her perspective during an interview with Hindi Rush.
Nidhi, who departed from the show years ago, stays connected with former co-stars Dilkush Reporter, Bhavya Gandhi, and Kush Shah. Regarding the rumors of Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta, and Tanuj Mahashabde's potential departure, she noted the impact of monotony.
“Aap kitne hi time ke liye ek cheez roj kar sakte ho. Everybody has a life and has a right to think about what they want to do for themselves," she said. “I know the show is big, and it has given recognition to many actors. But at the end of the day, it is work. I don’t feel like anybody needs to give any justification for their decision to leave the show."
Responding to reports of actors leaving due to production issues, Nidhi added, “Aisi kaunsi cheez hoti hai jo sirf acchi hai? Every coin has two sides. Everybody is trying to do their best. I really don’t know what to say on this. I chose what I chose when I thought the time was right. And I have just moved on in life."
Nidhi Bhanushali, who played Sonu Bhide in TMKOC, has commented amidst reports of actors leaving due to production issues, while producer Asit Kumarr Modi has affirmed that Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta remain on the show.
On Monday, Munmun Dutta responded to the rumors by posting a video from the TMKOC set on Instagram. She clarified the situation in the caption, stating, "Rumours are always not true."
Despite denials from the show's creators and Munmun Dutta, the departure of past popular actors, such as Gurucharan Singh, Shailesh Lodha, and Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, has fueled discussion.
Even after 17 years, the show, also featuring Amit Bhatt, Mandar Chandwadkar, and Sonalika Joshi, remains a household favorite in India.
