The Goat Life

The makers of The Goat Life took to Instagram a few days ago to share an exclusive conversation with Benyamin, the bestselling author of Goat Days (Aadujeevitham). Directed by National Award winner Blessy and headlined by superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran, The Goat Life promises audiences one of the greatest-ever survival dramas. Having released the posters of Prithviraj’s jaw-dropping look from the film, the team has now shared a video of Benyamin talking about his experience of conceptualising the novel, how he met Najeeb - the man behind the story, and his journey of translating his thoughts into words on paper and now, for the big screen.

Speaking about The Goat Life’s journey from the book to the big screen, Benyamin shared,  “I had formed the novel, Aadujeevitham, in my mind, way before I met Najeeb. There was a phase where I wished to write a novel about an isolated man for a long time. As someone who has lived in the Gulf for a really long time, I always wanted to write a story about life in the Gulf. In my quest for the same, I crossed paths with Najeeb one fine day. It took me 1.5 years to get Najeeb to open up about his life and understand his story. Although the novel represents Najeeb’s life, I used his story as a reference to shed light on the experiences of countless Malayalis in the Gulf. Blessy sir and I had dreamt about adapting the novel into a movie for the past 10 years. When the shoot was in its final stages, we felt that our dream had finally come to fruition. There’s no doubt that The Goat Life will have the best visuals as we have collaborated with some of the world’s best artists to bring the film to life, and I am as excited as the audience to witness this spectacle unfold on the big screen.”
